Comfort food at its best. Actually one of the best places I've had in a while. Big Mama's in Omaha (which was recommended by Guy Fieri of DDD) came to mind during my first bite. Prawns - tasted a bit stale (fishy), but there is no ocean here. Can't really blame them. Fries - thin cut. Portion was quite large. Almost too large but I managed to clear it off. Coleslaw - also decent as well. I'd give this place 3.5 stars, and will definitely be back to try other items.

It was taking long so I figured it was the pump. When I got in the car I asked the elder with me if she could see the amount and told her "I don't know if I got any gas because it appeared to be fizzing slowly. At the same time a girl from Chicken chef came out and said "you just asked for $30 gas? " I told her "yes" She said "I forgot to stop it and now there is $84. in your tank" I gave her another $14 and told her I would next week to pay the rest as I wanted to be honest. She said "my mom won't wait that long" I told her I asked for $30 and that was all the money I had on me. She asks me to leave a credit card with her and I told her I didn't use credit cards. I left her my cellphone number, an old driver's licence so she wouldn't think I was being dishonest. We then headed back to Winnipeg. The following Wednesday I went there to pay for the rest of the gas that the girl had mistakenly put into my tank. The mom "Dianna" came to take the money and said. "are you the one with the Ford Explorer?" I told her yes. She instructed the girl to give me a receipt and then said to me "Ok it's all good. I will call the police and let them know that you came to pay for it." I said "the police???" She said "don't worry, I'll let then know you came to pay" I couldn't believe she called the police for their mistake. If I was going to be dishonest I wouldn't have left my phone number and id with them. She walked away without even saying "thank you" Later on I checked my old messages and she left a message saying "Katie, this is Dianne B.., you gassed up here and left without paying for your gas. Call me. The police have been called and told that you left without paying for your gas. The nerve!! ! I called the Lundar police and explained everything to them. I also told them about the message and all he said was "unbelievable!!!" He assured me that it wasn;t my fault and not to worry about it. They'll never get my business again!!! I am also reporting this to the Better Business Bureau, taking it to the paper and filing a complaint with her to the corporation!!!!

The "owner" (I use that term VERY loosely) after we had got back in the car and pulled away called the RCMP and told them that we had been smoking Marijuana in the car with our children. We found this out after being pulled over about 2 mins down the road when 2 RCMP cars pulled us over. The officer who came to our vehicle said right in front of our children " Where's the dope??", I was flabbergasted as was my wife. To make a long story short, because of this Chicken Chef "owners" lies we have had one of the worst vacations ever. I suggest avoiding this place at all costs as we were told that this is not a new thing for this apparent business owner. She apparently enjoys being nosy and causing trouble for every and anyone that she can. Was great, rich brown gravy and what must be hand cut fries. Was delicious. For dessert, more pierogis. 5 types of fruit and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Daily fresh borscht and options for those averse to the Ukrainian decadence. The owner is as much a character as is the dining area carries. She's warm, funny, and carries herself like a community aunt - joking, laughing, and suggesting you eat more. And no matter how much you can eat, it's affordable. Worth. The. Drive.
