One thing I can say is that I'm very picky when it comes to my wings, but Chicken Kitchen is definitely worth the 20min drive from my house. Not bad for a strip mall chicken joint. I walked into what looked like a run down deli. That that for what it's worth, but everything seems a little dirty to me. I was already committed so I looked at the menu. The woman behind the counter didn't look up as I stood there. After a good 30 seconds she asked if she could help me. I ordered the chicken dinner and a drink. Paid about 11 bucks and sat to wait. And wait. More waiting. She called my name and the food was certainly fresh, I know they just made it for me which is awesome, but it took at least 10 minutes and the longer I sat at what I realized was a dirty table the less comfortable I was. I got my food which was piping hot. It came with 4 pieces of chicken: wing, drum, leg, and breast. Side of baked beans, a little cole slaw and a roll. Once it cooled off I jumped in. Pretty good flavor on the chicken, nice and crispy skin that isn't too thick or bready and moist fresh meat, no processed junk here. The roll was probably store bought and the beans just a step above canned, the chicken is the hero of this meal. I'd probably rate this place higher if I hadn't just been to Popeyes earlier this month. Popeyes was cleaner, better sides, better prices and the chicken was about the same. If probably get take out or delivery from here, when judging purely on the chicken this place is 4 stars! read more

I came here again for a second and third time and the food was amazing: The fried chicken- seriously just like my moms. It is awesome. And affordable so you definitely don't have to spend much. $14.99 I got Six pieces of chicken Half pound of macaroni salad Two sides of mashed with gravy Two apple turnovers The apple turnovers are amazing! I thought they had left them out of the bag and went back in and got two more. When I got home I found the two missing apple turnover overs underneath the chicken. When I go back I plan on paying for the pies. Another time that I went I ordered four pieces of fried chicken and someone else ordered the chicken cutlet sandwich with a side of fries. I posted pictures of the sandwich. It wS huge and very good. I took a bite of it and it was on point. Definitely going back and definitely paying for my two eyes apple turnovers but I was so glad I got them I ate them the next day and they were still good. Been going to this place for over 10 years but the customer service I just dealt with on the phone is going to make me never go again. They are lucky I I was even going to give them another chance after my rubber chicken sandwich from last month. Super overcooked and couldn't even chew it. I called and placed an order for pick up for a buffalo chicken sandwich and I asked if it comes with fries and the lady on the phone got mad and said "that's a lunch special" and "next time tell me you want that lunch special!". Ha, like I'm supposed to memorize their menu?. I don't need to deal with passive aggressiveness if I'm going to spend my hard earned money first of all then when I said I wanted a bottle of water with it she hung up the phone and didn't even call back so I called back and asked if she hung up and she was making a bunch of excuses so I canceled the order. Have been eating here since 1996. Very clean ! This review is for April 11th, 2020 Excellent reasonably price chicken but was not impressed with ribs. Ribs looked delicious but were tough and full of fat. Cole slaw and potato salads are excellent too. We will be coming back for sure but no more ribs. Hit or Miss. How I will describe this fried chicken place. Hit or Miss if it is open and Hit or Miss on quality. My family have been getting our fried chicken fix for years from here and always happy, but the last couple of years are failing. A few times over the last couple of years my wife has gone to get a meal on the way home from work and the place is closed!? And not the Monday closed day. Appears to be too big of a business as not to have staff in place to stay open when maybe owners need time away. With a recent closed time, my wife got our fried chicken fix from a fast-food, joint not too far down the road. And turns out it was very good from the fast-food place. Last night my wife stopped by to get some chicken for dinner, and it was the worst ever we have had from this place or any place really. Very small pieces and dry and just not the normal from here. Very disappointing! I think our new go to is a fast-food chain, which is a shame as I like to support local, but not with these unreliable situations. Their lunch specials are pretty good. But too bad I came here during dinner time. I ordered their wings (the ones with the drummy part and the wingy party together) with a couple of pieces of chicken (yea yea, I'm a fatty). But I wanted to get a good sample of their offerings. Of course, I wasn't expecting anything high class which is a good start. I would say the batter isn't fantastic (like Popeyes.....man I want some Popeyes), but it's comparable to Cluck U's. Wings were a little dry, but a heavy dosing of my special sauce (aka hot sauce + ketchup) and the solution was quickly found. Chicken was pretty moist and I saw giant buckets as containers. This place is hidden at first sight, not a big sign not a big store. But this small place is the best wings in town. We got the More than hot or whatever it is and tbh eu were fantastic. they were hot while still edible. The buffalo is the same as more than hot flavor wise just a bit milder if that's what your into. Then, we got the honey barbecue which were absolutely fantastic. They weren't too sweet and definitely not too sticky, they were also mild but a great flavor. The lemon pepper were good. Id just say good because there was a lot of seasoning on them. The fries were average but the corn nuggets were really amazing. 4.7/5 would recommend. read more

The Fried Chicken Authority. The only place I go to get friend chicken. Chicken is always fresh and most important, the oil is always fresh. I normally get the Family Deluxe 16pc chicken and it is always a consistent bucket of chicken. It's usually 2 whole chickens. 4 breasts, 4 thighs, 4 wings, 4 drumsticks. Sometimes it's 5 breasts and 3 thoughts or vice versa but normally the same. Value is very good for what you get. The best thing about this place is the nostalgia. I just like the old school. The people are the same people year after year. You have a relationship with these people. Can't say that about Popeyes, KFC, etc. Buy local, support local. read more

I signed up for yelp specifically to leave this review. When we called to order dinner tonight, the woman on the phone was incredibly, insultingly, rude. From the moment she picked up she was extremely derogatory. She did not want to take our order, it was clear we bothered her by calling. She didn't even have time to hang up the phone, or make sure we were off the phone, before she starting complaining about us to the other staff. We heard every word. I would love to know what we did wrong, other than order food and give her a credit card to pay for it. Remarkable. Zero customer service. I have been going to this restaurant since this place was next to the Marshalls. I moved away from the area, so I didn't go there for a while. I just recently got back there, and it was an awesome purchase. The chicken was as good as ever, maybe even better. The fries are fantastic, same with the ribs and most of the sides. The wings were as juicy as they can be, and blow Cluck-U out of the water, same with Quaker Steak, and Buffalo Wild Wings. The state needs more places like Chicken Kitchen. read more

Now when I come home to visit family, I cannot resist stopping in to Chicken Kitchen for my usual. They don't even have to ask for my order. They already know what I'm there for. I always get the chicken and rib dinner. 2 breasts, ribs, mashed potatos, small coleslaw and a dinner roll. Chicken Kitchen's food is made to order and not chicken that has been sitting there all day. They have the tastiest chicken and ribs in the area in my opinion. You may place your order to go or stay in their dining room and eat. They also have fish options, rotisserie chicken and loads of sides to choose from. I like chicken sandwiches. It's disappointing that I can get a better one from Wendy's or McDonald's. I thought I would give chicken kitchen another try, too bad I did. Just a regular fried chicken sandwich should be easy enough for a chicken place. At first glance the roll had come apart on top. I proceeded to put mayo on it and found that the chicken had some darker gray spots on it, which looked gross. The chicken itself looked so dry and hard like it had been in the freezer for way too long. The person making this should have seen this immediately. Quality control failure.
