The food is always hot and satisfying. They usually are pretty quick with service. The inside is always cleaned and maintained. You can call in your order and now they offer online ordering. I've had Chicken Paul on my list of places I wanted to try in the Towson area for a really long time. I finally found myself on that side of town & my heart sank bc a fellow Yelper whose reviews I trust had just an ok Chicken Paul experience. Maybe that was just an off day at the office bc my experience was outstanding. I got a chicken box with Western fries, nothing more, nothing less ... and truthfully, nothing else was needed. My chicken was cooked to perfection, nice & crispy, and flavorful. There's this underlying DC/Bmore food beef & although I am DC born, and practically raised, ever since I've moved to Odenton, and have frequented more food places on the Baltimore side of things, it's no comparison. That applies here too with the fried chicken. This chicken beats any carry out in DC all day every day. As far as the Western Fries(Bmore)/Wedges(DC) go? DC all day. Chicken Paul's wedges were serviceable but not special. I've had special wedges too many times to give them a pass. Still good tho. Lastly, being a smart Alec I requested Mumbo sauce, which is totally a DC thing, just bc I was so sure they wouldn't have it. Boy was I wrong and it cost me .50 cents. Atleast, they called it mumbo sauce. Because nothing about it was that sweet and tangy sauce that I grew up on. So, if we're tallying everything up, that makes it 2/1 DC but the winner is Baltimore because the chicken here is so friggin delicious they win anyway. read more

Chicken Paul's used to be located further down Loch Raven Blvd near the Greetings and Readings.... I first discovered them when I was in college. Back then, I didn't care how many calories I consumed so I would happily order the 4 wings and fries AND fried rice. I would wash this down with a jumbo half and half. Then one day, I received the sad news that the shopping plaza that Chicken Paul was located in was closing down. I cried for days lamenting the loss of possibly the finest chicken wings in town. On the bright side, the abrupt closing of Chicken Paul possibly saved me from developing severe circulatory health problems so I guess it wasn't all bad... But still, sometimes I would think about those hot, steamy, juicy wings and the crispy, salty western fries and I would get all teary eyed asking myself, "If only..." And then it happened. At first there were some unsubstantiated rumors, then some eye-witness accounts, and then physical evidence.... Chicken Paul was back. With my eyes swelling with tears of joy and my lower lip quivering out of a mix of tepid nerves and excitement, I was brought to my knees by the wonderful, unexpected news. The chicken is always cooked perfectly. Hot, crispy skin and moist juicy meat. They are seasoned with just the right amount of salt and pepper. Add a splash of hot sauce and.... so good..... The fried fish is amazing as well. Be warned however that the jumbo lake trout really is a jumbo sized lake trout. It's big enough to feed 2-3 people depending on how comfortable you want to feel afterward (gotta remember to wear sweat pants next time...). The half and half is classic Baltimore style: too sweet iced tea mixed with too sweet country time lemonade. read more

You can miss the place completely if you are getting fresh off I-695 going across Joppa Road. Bring spare change, because there are parking meters outside of the store. If you have never been to Chicken Paul, I recommend getting something simple, like four pieces of fried chicken wings and fries. The chicken is moist, savory, and cooked well. The chicken wings aren't small either, if you are wondering. The store offers either french fries or potato wedges. If you get either one, they'll put enough to the point where the tray is hard to close. I believe to total was a little bit over $5. Big fan of Cheesefish subs? Excellent, because those are delicious as well. What about half and half (Baltimore talk right there)? The store will serve it up, no problem. Honestly, I'm confident that pretty much anything on the menu will be good enough to order. So I couldn't sample their homemade brew- it's sweet tea and there is also lemonade, both the right beverages for this type of joint mixed 50-50. Lucky for odd balls like myself, there is a high-quailty brand (Tradewinds) unsweet-tea in the cooler. Not bad pricing- 4 wings and fries, 5 bucks; add soda, makes it 6. This review is being while I'm eating my order from Chicken Paul. This is the first time I went there. All the good reviews left me wanting to try the place.I got carry out. I wanted the #7 which is 4 thighs and fries. Guess what? A chicken place has no thighs at lunch time. Really??? I got a breast and 2 wings and fries. $8.39. The breast is the worst I've ever had. Obviously this thing has been sitting under the hot lamp for a couple of weeks. It was so freaking dry!!! It was overbattered and had no flavor to it. The skin was actually too tough to chew. 2 bites and threw it away. The wings were ok but I usually don't buy wings. Nothing special at all.They were hard to eat because the still had the wing tip on it. Damn. Too lazy to cut them off before cooking. The fries were just the same old fries you get anywhere. I definitely feel like I got ripped off. $8.39 for 2 wings and fries. And I'm still hungry. I certainly won't be going back. You should stay away too. read more

This place is great, the food isnt mind blowing but it is good and filling. It opens early, like around 7 am and you can get fried chicken. The prices aren't bad either. Typical breakfast sandwich is less than $3 and the French toast platter is around $5-6 bucks. I only wish they stayed open later. read more

We decided to try this place because I like to try any fried chicken I can.We drove from Harford cty. so we called on the way to have order fresh n hot..my wife ask the person how the chicken came 4 piece or what, she was told it came 4-8 n 12 pieces so she ordered a 8 piece chicken we ask what sides they had we were told they only had fries..so fries it was...when we arrived we were given our chicken....it was 8 pieces of wings!! for 16.00 !!we went round n round on the difference between wings and legs thighs ect.then when i ask her to show me where the 8 piece wigs were on the menu she could not...she made up the price. they offered to make us chicken if we waited 45 min. The people could hardly speak english wich made the ordeal even harder, the place was also very dirty stuff on floor and spill on counter and we were the only ones there.never got to eat chicken but just the looks of the place and the way we were treated I shure wont go back read more
