When it was being built I thought, why build a gas station across from a gas station? Tucked in what appears to the naked eye as a simple gas station/convenience store is Donuts & Deli. It's no secret I'm from California as I reminiscence often of cool balmy beach weather as I swelter in the humid heat of Southern Louisiana. Louisianians love their snowballs, but we Californians LOVE us some donuts. We have as many donut joints as you have snowball stands, maybe even more. After hearing about this place ( from darling Alexis), I was eager to get my hands on some donuts. They serve a selection of classic donuts, glazed, chocolate, Bavarian cream, jelly filled and sprinkles. But then.......a wide grin as big a the Cheshire Cat creeped across my face as I eye spied a cinnamon roll as big as my head. The little Alice in Wonderland within me jumped for joy as I drooled over the various donut holes and miniature apple fritters, perfect for any mad hatter tea party. We order the giant cinnamon roll, chocolate covered donuts and jelly filled holes, all delicious! I thought I'd try their original potato, filled with the yumminess of bacon bits, cheese, butter, sour cream and green onions for a whopping $3.29 ....their menu includes sandwiches, burgers and smoked meat lunch plates....it's was obvious that some knew about this place as a dozen or so worker guys were chowing down at tables located inside..... Portion size was way too small The waitress even admitted that the fish was half the size of the normal size but nothing was done about it even after asking. The Crawfish Monica was horrible it came cold and it tasted like Kraft macaroni and cheese one of our party ordered a side of crawfish Monica sauce and we counted three crawfish tails in the whole portion. This was very disappointing being that I was trying to make a good impression on family that had never been to South Louisiana before. The only good thing I can say about the evening was that the appetizers were okay. Grady V used to be a class place after this evening not so sure. Won't be bringing anyone there anytime soon Hope they get it together
