mango green tea
Kialani Marie M.

came here today and the ladies were so nice :) my sandwich was soo good i like how they kind of do an egg and cheese omelette then add the meat so you get a nice warm cheese pull each time. we will definitely become regulars its hard to find a place that has quick breakfast/lunch that isnt fast food & donuts. my bf and i got a sandwich, 12 donut holes, mango tea, and a mochi donut for $23. i also highly appreciate they use seasoning lol they helped us quickly and we were in & out in about 15 minutes. mango tea is sweet and refreshing

Delicious burger!

Chick's has been a staple in our family for years! Their donuts are always fresh and fluffy, and they taste out of this world. We went for breakfast the other day and my husband got the French toast while I did something different and decided on a burger for breakfast. The burger was everything you could imagine a home cooked burger to taste like! The service was fast, friendly and made sure we had everything needed while dining in. My favorite thing is that nothing has changed too much, and it's such a treat to feel like we're going back in time in a class diner.

Assortment of doughnuts

This review is based off of a Too Good to Go order from them. I received an overstuffed box of a bunch of assorted doughnuts. Definitely worth the price when the box was ~$6! The glazed doughnut was standard and I quite enjoyed the jelly-filled one. Their doughnuts were mostly fluffy and pretty light. Some were a bit stale/dry, but that could be because they were for Too Good to Go. Overall, pretty standard doughnuts.

Counrty Fried Steak and eggs

A friend of ours recommended this place to us to go while we were driving around looking to get breakfast. It's a cute donut shop in the front and a dinner in the back. I ordered the Country Fried Steak and eggs, hashdrowns, and sourdough toast ($14.95). My wife got the Skinny Chicken Omelet with hashdrowns and sourdough toast ($14.29). Everything was really good! The gravy was flavorful with chunks of sausage in it. Just wanted a little bit more. The steak was also very flavorful. Hashdrowns crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Just the wa I like it. We will definitely come her again. I gotta try their apple fritters.

I ordered the "20" burger as was the waitresses recommendation since it had a little spice and some garlic in it. I also ordered the garlic cheese fries, which were good but not as good as the burger. Fries: 6/10 burger: 11/10 I was blown away. The atmosphere was giving local gem too. Quaint local vibes, cool spray paint murals, old school quippy signs and classic country American overtones. I will return for your tremendous burge

Our orders were taken in a timely manner. The waitress was nice and helpful. We waited about 15 to 20 mins for our food. We were told that there were issues with the kitchen staff, new staff being trained, etc. Honestly, she stated it was a bad day for them, so we should have been told that prior to ordering so we could have decided to go somewhere else. When the food came, my bacon was burnt (I asked for crispy, not burnt), and my French fries were cold. How does food that takes so long to find out come out cold and wrong? My wife's biscuit was together in the top and broken up on the bottom AND served on a dirty plate. We sent all the above back. He country potatoes had no seasoning on them, and the omelet looked on cooked on the egg portion. The food and cheese that was supposed to be cooked in the inside because it is an omelet was not put together as an omelet. It was like the egg just served as a blanket. She did not eat the majority of her food. This does not happen often. The biscuit was good the 2nd time. My bacon came back the same way, I ate around the burnt areas. The bacon was salty. The manager or owner (I'm unsure of who he was. He did not introduce himself) walked around asking how everything was. I was very honest. He took off 20% from the bill. We will not be going back.

OKAAAYY 1800, with the updated furniture since my first visit! It definitely gives it a "more than…read morea diner" feel. The outside is still as inconspicuous as ever, though. If you blink, you might miss it. Service is still 10/10! This time around, I ordered a hot matcha latte, and honestly, I wasn't expecting much (let's be real, some places can mess up matcha). But surprise, surprise -- it actually tasted like real matcha! It was delicious! For my meal, I tried the cowboy scramble, which I swear was everything but the kitchen sink tossed in a pan. It was hearty, satisfying, and totally hit the spot. The only hiccup? The melted butter they used on the toast had a weird aftertaste. I can't quite explain it -- like if butter went to a weird party and came back a little off. But hey, it didn't ruin the whole meal, just a little side note. All in all, I'm into the new look, and I'll definitely be back for that legit matcha latte and hefty scramble!

I originally went out looking for a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich and Googled "good breakfast…read morenear me." This spot came up, and although my wife and I have driven past it many times, we've never stopped in. Today, I decided to finally give it a try. After looking through the Google photos, I changed my mind and ordered a breakfast plate instead of a sandwich. Parking was a little challenging. I arrived around 11:00 a.m. and had to circle the block a few times before finding a spot directly in front of the diner. When I walked in, I wasn't sure whether I should seat myself or wait to be seated. All of the waitresses appeared busy, so I stood near the entrance. Once she was available, Marianna greeted me. Initially, I wasn't a fan of being asked whether I was picking up food rather than whether I was dining in or taking out, but I quickly realized they may be accustomed to regular customers who already know the process. Since it was my first visit, I explained that I wasn't sure if I should seat myself. Personally, I think a sign near the entrance would be helpful for first-time guests. Since I was dining alone, I chose a seat at the counter and ordered the Sugar Plum Special with cheese grits and sourdough toast. While waiting for my food, I noticed something that concerned me. The staff did not appear to be wearing gloves, and I observed food being handled after touching various surfaces, including condiments, plates, glasses, and trash areas. While I understand that food service relies heavily on proper handwashing practices, I personally felt uncomfortable watching bread being handled directly by hand. I requested that my toast be handled with a utensil instead, and my request was accommodated without issue. When my food arrived, my eggs were cooked exactly as requested--scrambled hard--and the bacon was perfectly crispy. The bacon was a little saltier than I personally prefer, but that's more about my taste than the preparation. Overall, both items were flavorful. Now, let's talk about the grits. I come from a strong Southern background, and we take our grits seriously. The presentation was fantastic. The butter melting on top and the cheese looked absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, the texture wasn't there on the first serving. The grits were noticeably gritty and undercooked. After a couple of bites, I sent them back and requested they be cooked a bit longer. One of the waitresses explained that customers typically need to request the grits "well done." That was surprising to me because I've always believed grits should naturally be cooked until smooth and creamy. In my opinion, that's how they're meant to be served. Thankfully, the second batch was much better. While they still could have been stirred a bit more, the texture improved significantly and was much closer to what I expected. I also want to recognize Marianna for her excellent service. She was accommodating, attentive, and handled my concerns professionally throughout the meal. Overall, I would return. The restaurant has a warm, family-oriented atmosphere and an old-school diner feel that is becoming harder to find these days. It reminded me of the kind of place you'd visit after church on a Sunday morning or somewhere you'd go with your grandparents for a comforting home-cooked meal. While there were a few areas that could be improved, the welcoming environment and friendly service left a positive impression on me.

In addition to their standard breakfast/brunch/lunch menu, there were also weekend specials. A lot of great-sounding options but since it was our first time, we decided to try some of our favorite traditional items. The corned beef hash was in the form we like and well-seasoned. It was accompanied by two eggs (ordered over easy and cooked just right!) as well as crispy hash browns that were not too greasy. The sourdough toast was crisp and came with assorted smucker's jams. We also tried their breakfast combo where we ordered eggs and link sausage (4 juicy links) along with a large portion of nicely prepared French toast. The coffee was Columbian and hot, and my cup always stayed full. They also provided large glasses of ice water, and provided ketchup and Tabasco sauce for our breakfast platters. The portions were large and commensurate with their prices, which were reasonable, and the service was outstanding. We are already aiming to get back soon to try other things on their menu.

I decided to give this neighborhood cafe a try and so happy that I did. The place has a very welcoming atmosphere. Little bit of a nostalgic vibe with a touch of modern. I loved that there was the old diner counter to sit at and watch the cook do his magic. There are several tables as well inside and some tables outside to enjoy a meal under the sky. If you view the menu, you'll see they offer quite an array of choices. My choice today was the Portuguese omelette with toast and hashbrowns. I complemented the cook on how easy he made it look to cook on a griddle and how well he managed to prepare the dishes. If you've ever tried to do an omelette on a flat griddle, you'll understand my point. The food was amazing. Well made and with such great flavor. I'm really hoping to be here next weekend to give this place another visit before I depart for home. The omelette was three eggs and plenty of filling. You'll be pleasantly full or asking for a box to go. The hashbrowns were perfect also. The lady my order and making sure I didn't need anything was super friendly and had a great personality. A trifecta for a five star visit to an out of town visitor. Kudos to the Bay Leaf Cafe for making my morning a wonderful one.
