This small mall is a bit unconventional, with its "food court" actually consisting of restaurants located outside the main building. Inside, you can easily explore the entire mall in about 30 minutes. Notably, there are no dining options within the mall itself, except for a few vending machines, Cinnabon and Auntie Anne's. This is STRICTLY for the store Prowestern in the Chico mall. Every time I've came to the mall, they have their doors closed and a sign saying "out for lunch! Be back soon." I waited today for over an hour to look at a dress they had. No one showed up. I asked near by stores and MALL MANAGEMENT if they knew when the employees would be back. They didn't know they went on lunch or when they would be back. Im so irritated and don't know why they would have that store if there's never anyone there to run it. read more

This mall doesn't care so the customers doesn't care! I don't know why it's so hard to wear a mask when you go inside a mall. We are released to go out again but the COVID-19 is still out there! I went there on Saturday, June 6th, and it was crowded and majority of the customers are not wearing masks. No social distancing. One guy even deliberately stood next to me while I was browsing at the jewelry section of JC Penny. Why couldn't they, (the mall admin), implement some ruling that customers have to wear masks when going inside the mall? The cashiers are wearing masks thankfully. But I was just so frustrated that I got out without getting what I came for. read more

This mall ownership group they purchase older traditional malls and in this case not a small shopping mall like some of the reviews suggested. This mall used to have over 100 businesses... not small. Unfortunately this ownership group buys old malls and turns them in to shopping centers or strip malls and then you have to leave the actual mall, go outside get a shopping cart then walk through a janky dangerous parking lot to get to the new stores that are all the same types of stores. Whoever at the city of Chico whose decision it was to approve this sale to this ownership group completely dropped the ball! Place isn't a mall anymore it has a planet fitness where the food court and arcade used to be. this is probably the worst mall i've ever been to. is it even considered a mall? it's more like a community center. it's the smallest mall i've ever seen. half of it doesn't even have stores, they're empty. the food court is EMPTY. there's only two spots that are open so it looks awkward. the only thing they have that's good there is dick's sporting goods and bath & body works. everything else is just kinda... not good. we need an H&M, lush, mainland, nordstrom's, macy's, etc. i heard they're trying to redo the mall, but i haven't really seen any changes yet. please bring all the big name stores here. read more

The Chico Mall is super supportive of the community. They host many venues in the mall, so check their website for details. The Mall; also offer Scavenger Hunts for children's birthday's and host them for our local church groups too!. So fun!! Make sure you call ahead and check in with Security for available dates and times. Let them know as well as the stores participating ahead of time if your doing a Scavenger Hunt inside the Mall. Dicks Sporting Goods has brought a lot more appeal to the same area . NOW-So hoping f in the future) they can bring in a bigger Department Store like a Macy's, Dillard's, Nordstrom's etc. that would bring in so much more revenue to our small city! read more

It's a small mall but has the products I'm looking for that I'm too lazy to wait for online so that's cool. The food court doesn't have much besides Subway, a Sweets shop, a pizza place, smoothies, and Japanese food. I honestly think the Mall needs to renovate itself for the growing population to make it more modern. read more

Poor Chico Mall. I am mostly giving three stars out of Nostalgia. Now the mall is kind of tragic. Many shops are closed and most of the good places left. I think Forever 21 is the only thing holding them open. They did a nice modern update recently but I would say it didn't do too much to bring in clientele. I see a lot of people complain about this mall so if anything you can move this mall to Jackson CA, we will be happy to have it in Amador County. Honestly the saddest mall ever. Too small and doesn't even have the brands that customers WANT. The only mall that I would go to is either Roseville Galleria or Arden Mall and that's like an hour and a half drive for me. But definitely worth it compared to this mall. This mall is always tryna add new stores but like I said, they give us stores we DO NOT want. They obviously need to read these Yelp reviews if they want to stay in business. But I doubt they would. What they need to work on is remodeling (place looks so outdated and old), making it bigger (2 story), and bring in POPULAR BRAND names. Stop giving the open spaces to brands that will not keep you in business! read more

20 years ago this place was hoppin. They had a carousel, a Hello Kitty store, and a Walden Books... basically the only things a 7 year old girl really needs from a mall. The Hello Kitty store was absolutely perfect, they had a Keropi cut out and you would pay a dollar to throw a bean bag into his mouth and if you made it in you got a grab bag. I think the whole bean bag thing was just a formality because they never put a limit on how many throws you got, but to a 7 year old it was AWESOME. My collection of Hello Kitty notebooks and pencils was the talk of the whole 2nd grade. Christmas time was awesome too... Santa didn't have the typical hum drum throne with elves... he had a fricken airplane with elves dressed like flight attendants!! My childhood memories are probably giving this place more credit than it deserves. It's pretty run down now, and to spite my glittering childhood memories it kills me to even walk around this place. It is washed out and run down and the complete lack of stores is simply depressing. UPDATE: I am not a big fan of the mall, or any mall for that matter. I would much rather spend my time and money downtown at local businesses than in the vortex of big box stores. BUT I have to give whoever owns the mall some credit... they are trying, and hopefully their efforts are not in vain. The new remodel is nice and there is supposed to be a bigger sporting goods store coming in so it may help the mall and our local economy out. read more

Well....it's quaint..I guess. They have the average run of the mill stores. I'm glad there is a Victoria Secret and a Spencer's gift store to amuse myself in, much like an immature 12 year old girl. The only reason I give 3 stars is because they have a forever 21 that I could spend hours on hours drooling in. I love forever 21. Only other significant thing is that there is a pretzel store that sells mildly tasty pretzels. The smell of the pretzels is more awesome than the taste. This mall is a joke. The stores seem like they change a lot, particuarly the small ones, because the rent is so high. Because of this, it's disappointing to go and the store you want has probably closed. This mall doesn't even have a place that sells books or music. Wtf is that about? The chico mall is extremely sub-par. Stores are closing left and right and it doesn't seem like much is being done about it. The food court is awful. I can't speak for Git Ya Some Pizza and Chico Smoothie. Those are both relatively new and I haven't visited either. The pizza smells good but all pizza smells good. Lens Crafters just closed, which sucks. There's an eerie essence to the whole place that just feels desolate and sad. The only high points are JC Penney, which has a Sephora, Forever 21, which is dated but very large, Victoria's Secret (they're all the same), and Dicks Sporting Goods. The employees were really friendly when I needed to buy a specific gift for a friend. There is a great variety but not as many of clothing stores as I see in other malls. I came here after reading about stores closing one after another, so I expected s deserted mall, but it was still decent. I came here on separate weekdays during the summer and crowding wasn't really a problem that existed. If you are looking for something fun to do while on vacation, this might be a good backup plan if it rains and you can't go to Bidwell Park. read more

Security here is a joke and BAD for business. A few months ago when the mall was open one of the "security" guards who was vaping inside, somehow didn't see the woman who was screaming on her phone and spitting on the floor (that's right spiting INSIDE the mall). Then today while trying to eat lunch out in the parking lot (new COVID 19 normal) one of their "security" guards kept circling my car and GLARING in. His truck was NOT marked, only figured it out when he finally lurked for the third time from the other direction and I could see his shoulder patch. I nearly wasted the local police department's time in reporting a creeper, who was clearly looking to cause trouble. Way to go whoever owns this already crapy "mall". I'm a middle-aged woman in a brand new car - clearly eating lunch- what nefarious acts could I have possibly been up to. I'm sure what's left of local business appreciates the loss of customers. Whoever is doing the hiring needs to be fired. This repeated bs is why people shop out of town. read more

A visit to the Chico Mall is more than a touch depressing. Anchored by Penney's and Sears, there's nothing up-to-date or modern about it, and you may feel as if you've entered a time warp to the early 1990s. You won't find exciting stores or items, and all the empty store fronts - especially the large area formerly occupied by Troutman's that's been sitting empty for about five years now - feel sad. With the demise of Gottsalks a few years ago, the entire town of Chico is now without a single makeup counter, and this is unacceptable. Can't Penney's be persuaded to add a Sephora as they have in other locations? I understand that the mall has new owners who are planning on some renovations, but it will take more than throwing a few million at this place to bring it into our current century. An acceptable department store for the Troutman's space would be a good start. read more

Chico Mall is amazing...it has a good selection of stores, but they have a kiosk called The Phone Wizard, and the worker was seriously one of the most inconsiderate employees. She was lacking so much in customer service. We walked up to the counter, and waited while she talked on her cell phone. I walked around the other side of the counter and asked if she was on a work related call, and she turned her back to me. ARE YOU SERIOUS?!? In the end she explained that it was her boss on the phone. She was trying to get days off work. That is TOTALLY fine, but do that on your break, or send an e-mail, or even just excuse yourself LONG ENOUGH to help the customer. I was appalled. I seriously would never be on my phone during work hours when I'm assisting customers, and even if I was, it's not hard to say, can I call you back or hold really quick I have a customer. At least they've finally remodeled a bit inside, but a better appearance doesn't make up for lack of content. Anchored by JC Penney's, Sears, and most recently, a Forever 21, this undersized mall is pretty scant compared to others in the north state. I remember when it used be somewhat decent, but they don't even have a book or record store anymore, which is personally an epic fail for me. (I would also say watch out for the annoying and persistent kiosk workers, but apparently they're becoming more commonplace in malls all over.) Typical mall stores, but a fun and unqiue play area for the kids (warning, bulk candy store right near there. Sneaky!) Haha. Lots of fun stores, well kept, variety of snak-type foods available. This is a small regional mall that has gone thru a lot of changes thru the years. Lots of band - aids put on issues. Then a new owner bought the mall and a complete remodel took place. not bad considering the economy was not doing well, they cannot forecast the closing of stores, but they are always working on new business to fill those voids ie. The Chico Mall...don't waste your time. You'll spend all of 10 minutes (max) walking from one end to the other. The staple stores are Sears and J.C. Penny. No Macy's, Nordstrom, nothing. I have reviewed the mall before and this is basically an update to my previous review. The mall appears to be improving dramatically. They did a lot of cosmetic work lately and it looks a lot nicer now. The food court selections have dwindled dramatically with the loss of Sbarro's (bankrupt) and Burger King. They could definitely use some unique and delicious eateries that would draw more people to the mall. It appears there is hope on the horizon for the mall and now that I work within the mall, I will definitely keep my eye out for new stores and improvements. Keep up the good work. read more

Security here is a joke! There are zero cameras and the security guards are lazy, seriously unfit, and ineffective. I have witnessed and heard of multiple robberies and some crazy sh*t happening at this mall and nothing ever happens to fix this problem. Robbers come back and get away with it every time. Probably one of the worst malls in northern California. Not a whole lot of great stores and the employees are generally high school kids who don't offer much help. The selection of clothing is slim to none from chain stores that don't carry anything except pop culture style. I will say that I do appreciate the employees of GameStop in this mall, always helpful and knowledgeable of up coming titles. read more

I work in one of the stores in the Chico mall. And it's true it is always clean. But I've also have worked in malls near sanfransico. And The staff at the Chico mall get a 0 out of 5, and I'll tell you why; the staff in those San Fran malls go out of their way to get to know the stores staff, take concerns, questions, post sales on their web sites...they knew us by name! I've worked at the Chico mall for two years and the only time I see the staff is when they walk through the mall with the retired vet mall cop... Don't go near Penneys jewelry department! I gave it 3 stars because the people at the Watchman store were very helpful, reasonably priced, and were able to fix the damage done to my watch by the people who work at the jc penny jewelry department. I'm from out of town and decided to take four of my watches to have the batteries changed at jc penny. Usually I use an actual watch store, but I figured it doesn't take a genius to change a battery, and I saw that penny's advertised watch repairs so I thought it would be fine. They spent an entire hour with the watches just to tell me that two of the watches were too complicated for them. By the way, the two watches were swatch and michael kors....not exactly rare brands of watches. And the Armani watch they told me I would have to go buy a battery and bring it back for them to use. I left the store and went over to the Watchman which is right outside the store accross from the food court, bought a battery, left my two watches for them to change the batteries, and went back to pennys. The lady at the jewelry department then sat there struggling with the watch for another 20 minutes while she dropped stuff on the floor and complained that the screws on the watch were very small...for crying out loud...it IS a watch. She then said she couldn't do it and called some other guy over to do it. He struggled for a while and then said he was done. When I went back to the Watchman to get my other watches I asked them to to look at the Armani watch to make sure that it was ok. They told me the watch was not running and that not all of the pieces had even been put back in the watch. SERIOUSLY! I had to go back to pennys where I could see the pieces sitting right there on the counter, get the guy to give me back the pieces and then leave the watch at the Watchman overnight to have the watch guy repair the watch. Moral of the story: (1) Do not go near the jc penny jewelry department ever! If they can't even change a watch battery just imagine what they would do to nice jewelry. (2) The Watchman charges $3 less for watch battery changes, it takes about 5 minutes instead of 1 hr, and they won't break the watch. read more
