There are husband and bride skeletons on the floor in the window by the door. Once inside, we were greeted, and asked if our order was pickup. It was to go. The wonderful and very busy woman at the counter, offered the menu, but we already had one. She was busy not just taking orders, taking payments, and getting deliveries out the door, but mixing drinks, and taking care of tables! She was a one woman army! Outside looks small, and so does the inside. But the layout is done in such an effective way that it there is counter seating, and more than enough tables to host a small event. It is like a small living room that is still large enough to throw a decent party! The décor is authentically Mexican with Mexican pottery, glassware, imagery, decorations, etc. Regarding the food, it is as authentic as the décor. Chilangos Mexican Grill is not Taco Bell or Pollo Tropical! The food is made from the heart and soul not from a corporate cookbook. Chilangos is the Taco Tuesday spot in Plantation! Came here to celebrate National Taco Day, on the most ideal day of the week to celebrate- Taco Tuesday! I haven't been here before but after a quick search on Yelp, I heard about their iconic deals so we had to come. Although they don't have $1.50 tacos anymore, the 40% off tacos all day is still a great deal. Upon walking in, it was already crowded so we opted to order to-go. After sitting at the bar area, we decided to dine-in there and they were super accommodating. After seeing them make a frozen margarita, we asked to get one while waiting and it was delicious! For our order, we got three birria tacos, two al pastor, and two carne asada, plus an elote. The food was so good, and even if it took a bit to come out, the was worth the wait. I had to stop myself from eating all the chips. My husband ordered a michalada. For $9, I think it's pretty fair pricing given the amount they give you and the sheer size of the cup! Which was adorned with a tamarind straw and a lime. We both decided to get some tacos. You can order them a la carte, and honestly, that was great because I just wanted a couple. I ordered the picadillo taco and a carnitas taco. My husband ordered a chorizo, cabeza, and a lengua taco. The tacos came out after a bit and were nice and warm. Chilangos is always a great choice when you are in this area. The restaurant is charming and welcoming. Very unpretentious but with great quality food. The michelada is huge and very flavorful. Orchata and agua de Jamaica are always available, and the kids love them. I always think that their tacos are the best choice when coming here but have to say that the burritos are also very good. Hole in the wall but they delivered on food. When we walked in no one was there to greet us so we just grabbed an empty table and sat down. After a couple of minutes someone came out and gave us menus and took our drinks order. Chips and salsa were brought out- definitely had better and they were not fresh but still good. We ordered 6 tacos but 2 are missing in the picture. The best ones to get is carne asada, the piccadillo and the birria. Super flavorful, and while the tacos look like its a small portion it fills you up pretty quickly. I found my favorite tacos spot!!! Not only because it truly feels like a hole in the wall being in a sketchy plaza, very limited parking, and ornate Mexican decor hiding how old the building really is, but because the tacos are legit the best I've ever had! The food is very yummy with lots of options. As someone married to a Mexican I'm well versed in their cuisine and was impressed by the options they had. Lovely little hidden gem. My fiance and I are in town from NY to scuba dive. He is Spanish and wanted to come here based on good reviews. We were disappointed. We both had two tacos. Beef shrimp and fish. All were fresh, light, and rich in flavor. We were both very satisfied. I will say, it smelled like a public bathroom in there. This experience was not as expected, being that I was originally going to another Mexican restaurant but changed to Chilangos when I saw they sold Pozole. When my girlfriend and I walked in it was about an hour till closing and we were greeted by the woman at the front. She was friendly but I could tell it was ran closely by family so the stares that we received from the others as guests were just a little intimidating, and because of that we ended up ordering to go instead. We ordered the burrito, which was super flavorful and filling, the taco plate, tostadas & chips and salsa but was missing the tostadas & salsa in the bag unfortunately. Sooo happy we live close by because we will be coming here very often. The margaritas were strong and delicious. They were priced well as well. And the food was amazing. My husband ordered 4 tacos, he said the pollo and al pastor were his favorite, and he also got chorizo and carnitas but said they tasted very similar. The elote was a delicious treat as well! Honestly it doesn't even have to be Tuesday and I would still pay regular price for these tacos. Every taco I tried there has been seasoned to perfection. Each with its own flair and complements. My favorite is the quesabirria and it also comes with a side of consume (the dip). The next best thing is the fish which has some amazing flavoring. The steak and head tacos don't miss either. Food comes out fast and they give you big water cups so most likely you won't be asking for a refill. The women who serviced us was polite, light on English and very professional and present. We started with the queso chorizo chip and dip and it was your usual oily dish nothing special from the 100s of other Mexican spots I ventured to. I would give the dip a 5/10. Upon arrival we were given chips and green sauce (I do not know the name, but if you know, you know) it was good 8/10. We ordered the queso Birria tacos ..... AMAZING!!!!
