Childbirth is one of those experiences that everyone tells you about, but there's no way you can comprehend it until you actually go through it. However, there are teachers, like Latifa, who can take you through the process, explain to you the essentials of what you and your partner need to know, and prepare you as best as possible on what you can expect throughout the birthing process that will make it easier when the time comes. Latifa's class was one of several recommended by my ob/gyn and it was is one that I was able to fit with my schedule. While I found the birth overview in her class informative, it was the hands-on work that I appreciated the most, including how to bathe and dress your baby and put on a diaper. Regardless HANDS DOWN, THE MOST VALUABLE thing I learned was the technique of how to push from the top of my stomach while I was in labor. As a result, my labor was approximately 2 hours. Now, I know not every situation will be the same, but a short labor, if possible, is very appealing for a mother-to-be. It seems counter-intuitive, but I have since told others to imagine a toothpaste tube. If you squeeze at the top near the opening, most of the toothpaste stays in the tube. If you squeeze from the crimp at bottom, you can get almost all of the toothpaste out of the tube. I would absolutely, VERY HIGHLY recommend taking a class with Latifa before welcoming a bundle of joy into your life!!!! read more
