Worth EVERY penny we paid, and then some. We had HFA doulas with us starting from the night we brought each of my children home from the hospital (2021, 2023) until each was about three months old. I literally and metaphorically slept better with the HFA team there. As first-time parents -- it's so comforting to have expertise and support at every moment as you're navigating life as a parent for the first time. When you have no idea what's going on, you're healing and tired and hormonal, your doula is a rock. As second-time parents -- LIFE-SAVING to have someone there to let me sleep as much as possible so that I could be semi-human for my toddler in the morning, and gave my husband and I some much-needed normalcy in the evenings. I had a 2.5yo and was pregnant with twins, and knew we wanted to hire someone to help us with the nights once the twins were born. I had a list of questions a mile long, and every single person I spoke to was kind, patient, and made me feel heard. I had a lengthy conversation with Devon about what I was looking for in a post-partum doula, and then Jill came to our house and answered my questions for well over an hour - all of this, before we even signed a contract and committed to using their services! Jill, Morgan, and Victoria are three incredible women. All with families of their own, but they came to our house each night (individually, of course - the three of them rotated throughout the week), helped feed our babies, stayed up with them in the night (& got them on a decent sleep schedule!), helped fold laundry, washed bottles, sat with me and listened when I was feeling completely overwhelmed and incapable.... really, I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with Happy Family After. Devon and our doula, Leslie, were an absolute joy! My husband and I are first time parents, and were overwhelmed, stressed, and exhausted when we came home from the hospital. As soon as I let Devon know that our daughter had been born, she immediately coordinated our first few overnights with Leslie. When Leslie showed up that first evening, I knew we were in good hands. Not only did she answer our hundreds of questions about caring for a newborn (bathing, sterilizing bottles, breastfeeding questions, etc.), but she was a constant source of confidence for these nervous new parents, ensuring that we knew that we could handle this huge undertaking. For example, when I was having trouble breastfeeding, Leslie provided me with tips and tricks to help my daughter get a good latch. In terms of overnight care, Leslie was singularly focused on making sure that my husband and I got the maximum amount of rest at night so that we could recharge for each day. I knew that my daughter was in good hands with Leslie, who is an experienced pediatric nurse and was so sweet and gentle with her care. You can tell she loves her job! We couldn't have asked for a better experience. I will definitely be using this service (and hopefully Leslie!) with my next child! read more

I was nervous about asking for help. We did the "on our own" the first time after a traumatic birth and I hated every minute of the first 4 weeks (the hardest!). I felt like I had to do it on my own. The second time around we hired Happy Family After to help out at night (my hubby has a health condition and needs proper sleep) for 8 weeks after my c-section. Not only did Miranda help me out with all things baby.... but she was truly wonderful with my 3 year old toddler (who was also trying to adjust). We used Happy Family After to help us with sleep training. Devon was a lifesaver and a miracle worker. Our 6 month old would not sleep in his crib or co-sleeper for more than a half hour without being held or sleeping on a person. No one in our house was sleeping for more than an hour or two at a time. We were in desperate need of support. From the start, Devon took charge and put us at ease. She was a pleasure to work with! Within a few days, she had our son on a daily schedule for naps and nightly sleep that we could easily follow. Within 2 weeks our son was sleeping through the night. Devon and her team of doulas are a LIFE SAVING TEAM! I've never heard of the doula service until my husband started searching for night time help when my son was born. I was at my breaking point getting no sleep and then taking care of my son during the day with little time to rest. Enter Devon and her doulas! The doulas were able to help get my son on a eating/sleeping schedule and also helped teach me how to do first time mommy tasks like the ever daunting cutting fingernails! While my son has outgrown the overnight phase, I continue to use them during the day because they are the ONLY group of people I feel comfortable with. 2.5 years ago we came home from the hospital excited, but tired from a tricky labor. Within a few days we were completely exhausted wrecks and feeling so uncertain about how to get our darling baby to sleep. Frantic internet searching led us to Happy Family After and after putting in a desperate online request Devon got in touch almost immediately (over a holiday weekend no less!!). A day later Jill arrived at our door and our lives changed. It's almost impossible to quantify or describe exactly how grateful we are to Jill. She is the perfect combination of an experienced and professional doula - that is she was able to care for our baby and for us, as first-time sleep deprived parents - as well as a seasoned mom herself, and a truly compassionate and kind person. We signed up for four overnights a week for about two months and within those weeks she got our baby to sleep longer and longer stretches (and so we did as well!), taught us about parenting, supported us as we adjusted to our new lives, and was a tremendous source of encouragement for me as I breastfeed our baby (she taught me how to pump!). After we were all sleeping Jill continued to come during the daytime to look after our baby and gently helped and encouraged us as each new developmental step occurred. To this day Jill is still the only person we feel totally comfortable to leave our baby - now toddler - with. We all adore her and cannot image how we would have got through the first few months without her. read more

2 years ago I came home from the hospital with my 2nd child and quickly realized I needed more help. My baby wasn't able to breastfeed so I was having to pump, feed and clean bottles all through the night and try to take care of my recovery. Devon was recommended through my lactation consultant and was an absolute life saver. Every night one of her doulas came took care of cleaning and prepping bottles pump parts, and feeding and caring for my baby while I slept and pumped. But more than that they really took care of me too- I always had water and a small healthy snack next to my bed for pumping. If there were dinner dishes in the sink when they arrived the doulas would instantly wash them. They would entertain my then 5 year old and even helped me decorate for his birthday one night. They really went above and beyond what a baby nurse would do- they are an extension of you the mommy and care for your well being too. Worth every single penny. And Devon was an absolute dream to coordinate everything. I'm about to bring home my daughter from the NICU and have already contacted Devon for night doulas to help with this baby. I was definitely one of those people who had reservations about having someone come into my home to help me with my newborn twins. However, after just one night of having Devon stay I was a convert. As a doula, I found that Devon had the rare combination of being both respectful of our privacy while being proactive with everything that needed to be done. She listened to what I really wanted and found ways to support me and the babies that were most helpful for me. I really appreciated the fact that she gave me all the information on a given topic, and then stood back and let me decide what was going to work for our family. For example, when I first started breastfeeding I went through several difficult periods and thought that maybe I would stop nursing. Devon was supportive and encouraging without pushing any particular agenda. For me, this really took away any pressure I might have experienced and helped me feel more positive about working toward my goal (I was able to continue breastfeeding). Devon will always have a special place in our hearts for all the help and support she has provided our family. She is wonderful! read more
