I took Maeva's group course leading up to the birth of my first baby and she was an instrumental resource. Maeva helped me prepare for little things I could do now to help prepare for an easier labor - like certain sitting positions, yoga moves, and meditations - and made me feel strong and ready as the event approached. Maeva was sweet and very informative with many tips and advice for the big day. Each class was full of so much information but I think the best tips I came out with was stretching everyday, positive thinking and affirmations, and whatever method works best to achieve relaxation. She's very patient and non judgemental. She's available to answer any questions and explains anything that one does not understand. If I weren't already planning on having my mother and my fiance in the delivery room with me I'd consider using her as my doula for added support. I came to Maeva last month because I needed help to get rid of some old deeply anchored addictive behavior that was holding me back from living my life fully. Maeva was our HypnoBirthing instructor and she was GREAT! Before taking the class, I read the book. I debated taking the course because I thought maybe I would be paying to hear all the information in the book reiterated. After reading reviews on Yelp and calling Maeva to ask her a few questions about the course, I decided to take the 5 classes. I was NOT disappointed. She provided us with a lot of useful information that was not in the book and answered all of our questions. We came into the class not knowing much about labor/birthing and she prepared us with everything we needed to know. I felt very confident about giving birth to my son, with little/no fear in my mind. After we had taken the course, I reached out to her when I reached 40 weeks and my OB/Gyn started discussing induction with us. She was happy to provide me with advice that was very helpful. Thankfully I went into labor on my own a few days before they were to induce me. My spouse and I felt very prepared for the birth of our son when it came time. I have told all of my friends who are pregnant or are trying to get pregnant that hypnobirthing is definitely the way to go, and Maeva is an awesome instructor! read more

I wish i was never taken this class. From day one you will be convinced that you have to fight for your rights in the hospital and all what the medical staff wants is you to leave; the hospital is the machine to make money and they want to get rid off you as fast as they can and that you HAVE to bring birth plan to the birthing room and make sure everyone reads it. When you are giving a birth you don't want extra stress and you don't want to feel combination of agony of pain and anxiety, believe me. The lady has strong opinions about each hospital and refer you to in her opinion are close to French standards. Which is understandable in a way, but when she says "French hospitals are way better" in the 1000 time you feel unsure of giving birth in US lol . Lady is so arrogant and want to you, your husband and all people in a room know all about her modelling career and her quieting smoking ("haha") and starting hypnosis career because of that. WHAT?! All the Hypnosis session felt like scam for the "STUPID" society, aka New Yonkers who like to pay a lot and whine about themselves. When you giving birth you should be comfortable and know that medical staff is equipped and ready for you. Giving birth is so mental and please don't go to THIS person to get ready. Birth of our baby was long 72 hours filled with fear pain and stitches all over thanks to Maeva who made me so anxious about giving birth in New York Presbyterian Hospital. We had originally planned a hospital birth with an OB but at 6 months due to the amazing education we received from all the resources Maeva provided above and beyond the amazing HypnoBirthing process we decided we wanted to work with a midwife and change where we would give birth. Me and my wife attended this Hypnobirthing class back in February and turned out that it was one of the most pleasant experience we had as new coming parents. Within such short time we had gathered so much information, details and examples that could help any of us when the due day comes. It all comes down to one very important detail: mommy needs to know how to relax properly and then her body does the rest. Detaching from that noisy and busy hospital environment and creating your own quiet one in order to bring to this life the most loved one is the key point here. Having someone very well trained and experienced like Maeva on your side is a blessing, specially for some first time parents like us. We were very thankful and enjoyed every second of this class and we decided to even have her as our doula, although we were going to deliver into a regular hospital. Unfortunately the pandemic hit us so hard and no one was accepted into delivery room. But the real story starts now. Although she was not allowed into the room, Maeva was next to us 24/7. She guided as over the phone as a virtual doula the entire time, starting couple of days prior to the delivery (where we needed couching to naturally induce the labor cause the baby was overdue) and also inside the delivery room. We felt very safe knowing that Maeva and her knowledge were on our side. She answered every single text that came from us even during the late hours. I don't know how everyone is handling this "crisis" but having Maeva on our side during that time was a blessing and our confidence level went up. If hypnosis is something you have been considering now may be a great time to try it. I knew Maeva to be an excellent hypnotist from hypnobirthing classes. When a family of mice decided to quarantine with me/ make me confront my life long phobia or rodents I reached out to her for help. Some people have asked me if it was weird to do the session over zoom and for me the answer is no.  It was like a house visit. I was very comfortable in my own bed and felt like I got to keep some of the magic of the session in my own home with me. In a manner that felt very measured and safe we were able to find out what was at the root of my phobia. After the session I was left  feeling as though I had lost 90 pounds of fear.  I can not recommend Maeva highly enough. read more

I decided to go to Maeva because I was already aware of the issues that I had personally and wanted to go as deep as I could to come to terms with it. The difference with 'shrinks' and this specific therapy is that this WORKS. Maeva guided me to confront my 'unfinished businesses' and helped me understand why I am the way that I am (meaning when I deal w/ things in a negative/not productive way) so that I am able to start changing so I can live in the now, happily, and positively. Maeva is professional but makes you feel very comfortable that I wasn't afraid to 'dig deep', I will continue to see her when need be. My husband and I were very pleased with our hypnobirthing class experience. Although I've yet to give birth, we both feel we've now got some tools to help us through the birthing process. I think Maeva really strikes a good balance, in her personality, way of speaking to class and in her practical discussion of hypnobirthing in a modern medical setting. Everyone plans to do hypnobirthing in her own way, every birth is different, and that really came across during class. No dogma or extremes. Great instructor. The class was 5 sessions, once a week in the evenings. I think the length and size and format of the class works, with some practice done at home and some hands on practice in class (I am not the type to just be able to read a book and 'get it'). I can't say enough amazing things about Maeva. She was our hypnobirthing therapist, as well as doula during the birth of our daughter. The techniques she taught me were invaluable during the big day. I can't recommend Maeva enough. As a first-time mom, I was nervous about the whole birth process, but had heard good things about hypnobirthing and figured it was worth a shot. Now, obviously this is a more "new-age" type approach and may be a little too out there for some, but that's what make Maeva so great, she never made it seem like it was "out there." She made every class informative and fun, laughed with us when we watched the crazy birthing videos and more than anything, made us feel comfortable and calm about having a baby. The most important thing I took away from the class was her ressurance that what we were learning were tools and that not every birth goes as planned, but at the end of the day, the way you have your child is the way they were meant to be born. It really helped the day of when things, as usual, didn't go as your planned and what she said made it feel like it was OK to deviate from the original plan if need be. Maeva was so caring and calm and really took the time out for each one of us students. She even took time on her own to call and check on me when I was scared that something might've been wrong and she reassured me that I was fine. (I was.) She was so amazing and this class was so great for gearing us up for that big day. Not to mention, the other people in the class were so wonderful as well, we really felt like a family and it was sad when we had our final class. We had our baby in May and I still support everything on my first review. We delivered a healthy ~8 lb baby without medication, using the breathing and visualization techniques we learned in Maevas class. Moreover, she checked in with our class around the time of our collective due dates to see how it went. What a pro! What a doll! Please take her class if you get a chance. I was concerned that Hynobirthing might be too esoteric and impractical for me but Maeve struck the perfect cord between the spiritual side of birth and the reality/nitty gritty of birthing in NYC in 2014 - whether you are going to a hospital, birthing center, or having a home birth. It was very educationally based so that my husband and I are now prepped for the many complications that may arise and the strategies/rights we can employ when they do. It's been about a year since I went to Maeva for issues pertaining to social anxiety, and I still think of my sessions with her, and use the practices acquired therein, on an almost daily basis. The sessions helped me gain a lot of confidence and her approach has led me to finding new ways to work out problems I encounter on a day to day basis. We took Maeva's Spinning Babies class and it was incredibly informative. We learned so much about the anatomy of the pelvis and the physiology of giving birth that I think will be of incredible value. I can't believe this information isn't given to all pregnant women by their healthcare providers as a standard practice. Beyond all you learn in the class, which includes a lot of practical advice on what to do in many different birth scenarios, Maeva provides a lot of written information so you can review everything at home and get into a routine of practicing what you learn in class in preparation for birth. She exceeded expectations in every aspect of the process (from ensuring a relaxed environment at home to liaising effectively with the medical staff at the hospital while talking care of me during an exhausting delivery). After being free of smoking for ten years, I had a slip. My previous hypnotist was great but had moved out of town and I had no idea where . Consequently, I reached out to my former therapist who recomended.Maeve. I went to her office to leave a note; Very amateurish operation. No support staff Another woman who had a tiny space under the stairs, who called herself an aroma therapist slipped the note under the door which wasn't marked. The whole operation is very new agey-full of crystals and salves, candles and such . The crowd I saw in the halls and offices.were all trendy overindulged SOHO types. After seeing all this I was highly suspect. after checking her website, she says she was trained in New York. New York WHERE? Awfully vague in the specifics. I can only echo the sentiments of others, here. I would highly recommend Maeva's hypnobirthing class, and Maeva herself is a large part of that recommendation. I was a bit skeptical when I started the class, worried that it may be a bit too "far out" for me and my partner and that we'd be getting propaganda rather than information. But Maeva's positive, informative, intelligent, and practical approach made us feel immediately comfortable and dispelled any of those worries. I left feeling like I had been given a broad range of information from someone expert in the field and that I was empowered to make my own decisions about the type of experience that I/we wanted for our birth. The group that I took the class with was also fairly diverse in our level of knowledge and anxiety as well as our wishes for our birth experiences. Maeva navigated all of that quite agilely and without judgment, making sure everyone had the opportunity to get out of the class what was best for them as individuals/couples. As a first time soon to be mom here is what I found really informative in Maeva's classes: 1) Each and every birth is different and unique, no matter what they'll tell you 2) Your birth might not go as you planned but you'll gain the tools and knowledge to remain calm and adapt to YOUR current situation 3) Breathing techniques and visualizations to help you remain calm 4) The fact that it's not enough that your baby is engaged, baby needs to be in a certain position for an easy birth - she will teach you what to ask at the hospital and how to map your belly to see how the baby is standing... 5) Partner will learn massage techniques to help you during the labor 6) Maeva is offering tons of information about hospitals, doctors, midwives, doulas... Hypnobirthing is not offering a pain free birth techniques instead is teaching how YOU can "play" with your mind to put yourself in a calm hypnotic state of mind so your body gets to do what he knows best- birth your baby easily and calmly... It will also teach your partner how to be a mental and hands on support to help you get in that calm state of mind. I personally continue to practice these lessons each day and now look forward to a peaceful birth at home. I brought my daughter to see Maeva. My daughter is 12 years old. And she has been sucking her thumb since she was 3. We have tried everything to help her stop but nothing worked. She needs braces so she also needed to stop sucking her thumb. My sister in law who is a doctor told us that hypnosis could help my daughter. After a session with Maeva who worked on the little girl she used to be and the teen she is. Alicia lost the urge. She went back to sucking her thumb a little bit. But it clicked something allowing her to think that it was possible to get rid of this habit and so she did! It has been more than a month now and we now have an appointment with the orthodontist. I came into this class a little bit skeptical. Not because of the class but because I truly questioned my abilities to succumb to relaxation and hypnotherapy. I felt like maybe I wasn't a great candidate but I knew I wanted a positive and relaxing birth experience and hypnobirthing made the most sense to me. First let me say that Maeva is a wonderful, caring and non- judgmental hypnobirthing teacher. I really like that she is a Doula and has a natural instinct and understanding for babies and what the body needs to do in order to prepare for giving birth. I found her class to be really enjoyable and was able to learn so much which really eased my mind. I had no idea about so many things, like pelvis shape and the baby's position, it kind of still blows my mind. I found the breathing exercises and focus on the partner being as supportive as possible a huge help. The thought of pushing a grapefruit through a hole the size of a grape is terrifying so its best to be prepared and Maeva's class was such a positive experience! read more

Maeva is incredible! I work as a prenatal massage therapist and I can tell you that she is amazing at what she does. She was with us for the birth of our second son at home. The whole pregnancy, we followed the hypnobirthing program and personalized our sessions. We worked on specific points that I wanted to address that second time around. Maeva is highly intuitive and will guide you gently but efficently throughout all the emotions that come up. She came to our home for labor. She fulfilled all the expectations I had and with her coaching I was able to totally let go, be completely free during my labor. It was amazing. She knew exactly when to say the key words I needed. I highly recommend her to all my clients. She loves what she does and is great at it. Hypnobirthing is one great way to get ready for labor and Maeva is the woman you want to have by your side. Maeva and her hypnobirthing classes are fantastic and they far exceeded my expectations. She is not just teaching a birthing method, we learned so much about the human body, the baby's experience, having a healthy pregnancy, relaxation, what interventions are available and what they do, positions for all stages of birthing, as well as helping the baby get into position and so many more helpful things. I feel like I went from being totally unaware to being an extremely well informed participant in my pregnancy. My partner also learned a lot and it is helping him understand how to be more part of this process in a productive way. Maeva is very knowledgeable, pleasant, honest, and seemed fairly objective. I wouldn't say we were the most easy going clients, and she was very agreeable and helpful. I feel very good about the experience and how this has prepared me for the the "little one." As part of the class, we received useful literature, 2 great books, and lots of references to helpful links and audio relaxations. I have gone from feeling like I'm going to be a total spazz the day of birth, to feeling very empowered and relaxed that whatever happens, I will be able to cope and make informed decisions about my medical treatment. One last thing I have to mention is that this class was a VERY GOOD PRICE for what you are getting. Most of the classes I looked into gave less than a quarter of this for the same money. My close friend took a supposedly comprehensive class at the hospital, that cost over double what this cost, and she felt she knew very little useful information when it came down to the day she gave birth, and she was not a participant in the interventions she received because she really didn't know what they meant. She also knew very little about how to help herself during the pregnancy and birth. So yes, I highly recommend this class! read more

At 37 weeks pregnant and recently diagnosed with a breech baby, I was frantically looking for alternative methods to help flip my baby and avoid an ECV or subsequent c-section. Although Maeva's classes were full, she was so accommodating and held a personal class for me at her home. We discussed and practiced some key exercises to help move my baby, which I did up to 7 times a day. On the day of my ECV, the nurse checked the position of my baby and found him to be head down. I was elated! Whether it was body, my baby, the exercises that Maeva and I discussed or a combination of those three, I was grateful for Maeva's instruction as it made me feel like I was taking an active role in a process that is very unnerving and out of my control. However, one of the most rewarding exercises was the hypnotherapy. As this is my second child, I did not have the same mental or emotional capacity to devote to this baby in utero. The hypnotherapy allowed me to pause and take a few moments to connect with my baby in the last few weeks of pregnancy, which I found invaluable. I would highly recommend hypnobirthing and particularly with Maeva. She was wonderful! read more

I would wholeheartedly recommend Maeva's Hypnobirthing class. As others have mentioned, it's so much more comprehensive than any other birth class out there - thanks to Maeva. Not only is she sweet, compassionate and genuine, but also very intelligent and realistic, a rare combination in the world of alternative birth professionals. There are many other Hypnobirthing class offerings in the city but Maeva is a certified hypnotist who has attended numerous births herself, which I think makes all the difference. In addition to teaching the Hypnobirthing method, she provided us with TONS of practical info for pregnancy, birth, postpartum and breastfeeding that we had not received from anyone else (not even from our own doula) and her recommendations and referrals to other professionals if and when needed were always spot on. My only regret is that we couldn't have Maeva's support as our doula but an other (very lucky!) mom had already booked her when we met. HIGHLY recommended. read more
