Seemed completely disinterested, didn't want to answer questions, and seemed frustrated to answer questions as if she had already answered them before yet it was my first time calling. Lena has been life changing for my daughter and our family. When we started working with her we were in such a dark place. Lena was exactly what we needed to get on track with our daughter's OCD issues. A non-OCD counselor once explained how we needed an OCD specialist for our daughter similar to how a cancer patient would need an oncologist, not a primary physician. Finding a team that knows down to the detail the concepts of the different kinds of OCD and how to work on them meant the world to us. I am here just reviewing patient's responses and those of Tom, who is defensive and patronizing, like many in the "helping" "professions". ...explaining that one person WHO CAME TO THEM FOR HELP REGARDLESS OF HOW HE DID IT as "just a stranger". OUCH. Anytime the therapy process creates more distress to get involved instead of less, beware. Tom minimized the trek to Outer Wilshire, my main reason for looking at the reviews, as that was my first negative reaction was the distress of an all-day-affair-in-LA-traffic-with-incompetent-therapists. To top it off with arrogance, scolding and shaming the bad reviews doesn't cut it. To make the intake process so disturbing on so many levels, even with one or two people, who clearly are able to state valid responses, I'm going to pass. Been there, done that. read more

I was denied help for my OCD because I'm Autistic! I have been trying to join one of this center's OCD groups for years. They always fill up immediately. Today I finally got on the phone with them and they said yes a spot is open. During the intake questions it came up that I'm autistic. The woman then immediately told me that autistic people are not allowed to be in the ocd groups. She said that the therapists yell at her when an autistic person "slips through the cracks" and into the groups because they don't know how to deal with autistic people. I explained to her why this is incredibly prejudice and how it made no sense. I was seeking support for OCD. It's not like I would talk about autism in the group. Find the therapists at this center disgusting honestly. Not a safe place for mental health care. read more

My insurance does not accept the superbill for reimbursement because they do not have NPI. Also, they lock into a session and charge you even though you are not going or requesting for cancellation. So terrible. Be aware. read more

A place where you won't get any improvement, They don't really care about you except your money. They treat people differently base on their race. Like in a group when a white girl cut me off nobody say anything, when I cut her off the group leader frown at me...So disgusting. I am so blessed to have found this place. They do something here that most places don't do and that's the education. I use to believe what I was going through was just anxiety but after coming here they help you understand exactly what you are going through. I take my sessions with Sarah and she is beyond understanding, acknowledge and sweet. Never have I ever felt intimidated or dumb with her. OCD is NOT fun but again, this place helps you feel you fit in some sort of norm, even if you are different. read more

This center has been extremely helpful to me as an OCD sufferer. The group therapy is invaluable because you get to be in a room of other people who actually understand your OCD, which - try as they might - non-OCD people in your life may never fully "get." And the individual therapists are fantastic - and available in-person or online. Sheva is superb at dealing with Relationship OCD. Kevin (my first group therapist there) is great with Contamination OCD. Elena is a great cheerleader for working through many subtypes. And Elizabeth and Lauren have subbed a few times and brought great pieces of their own styles to our therapy work! I really can't recommend these therapists highly enough! I have a feeling that others who feel the same (positive) way don't write reviews because they don't want to publicly talk about their condition. It's hard work, but it's soooo worth it to get your life back. And the OCD Center of LA will help guide you on the path to living (and not just compulsing) again. False advertising alert. Their website says they offer sliding scale fees, but when you call, you discover they don't. Their intake coordinator has learned the sales pitch perfectly. She sells you on their senior level top therapists, and tells you none of their sliding scale therapists are available. Don't get me wrong, I think a good therapist is worth their weight in gold, but when they quoted me an astronomical price for the 80 minute intake session, and I asked if we could break it up into two sessions or do an intake with one of their less pricey therapists, she was rude enough to say "Oh no! Everyone wants our less expensive therapists. There's a 6 month waiting list". The slick sales pitch on their "high demand" senior level therapists gives you the sense this place is in it just for the money, and isn't legit. read more

First off, I am very glad Em B. below found help for her daughter here. She explains her "two year process" and how incredibly frustrating it is to get clarity and a sense of truth in this crazy profession...and it is crazy (pun intended). I got an assessment ($275) and after sitting on this process for almost 24 hours I have to share there is something very wrong. I had to fill out at least 10 pages of checklists. This is a terrible "fast food" approach. I sat alone in the waiting room frustrated after looking for a parking space and dealing with the 405. Am I to be so "centered" to go through this ridiculous amount of paperwork? Here's the problem...who really can shift into the level of awareness and vulnerability to crank through this type of paperwork? Why not ask for a current journal or some serious reflections that capture what is really going on? This is what happens when one is so locked into the training of status quo (patient walks into office, fills out paperwork, press button, wait, enter office)...no creativity or depth to think out of box. I press the white button which lights up telling I am ready and wait until 2:38 before I am greeted. First thought, "She was late." Made me feel from the get-go she is not in control. It was a mild feeling. Walk into office and she goes behind her desk with paperwork and immediately enters credit card info. Get your money first before we start. No person I ever met with did this. It was impersonal and tacky. Strike two right off the bat. The rest of the session was question, answer, repeat. She took notes and I bounced around. There was little direction. No overview of this process and what to expect during our time...if this was a song, she jumped right into the solo, skip the introduction, verses, and chorus. At the end, I am told we need another session to complete the assessment. I ask if this is part of my fee and am told it is an additional $175 for her personal fee. WHAT? REALLY? If she needed more time, that should be included in the assessment fee! Why am I penalized because she did not control the session? The first thing I asked when she was entering my credit card info was, "Is the solution for all the disorders on your website the same?" She said yes...but it isn't that robotic. That's the bottom line folks...this is cognitive behavioral therapy and the site makes it look like they have specialists dealing with each disorder...the solution is the same for all of them so a therapist can be sketchy on say scrupulosity or your specific situation and still treat you. This is why it really didn't matter what my assessment was...in the end, the treatment is all the same! I felt this was deceptive and if this is what I walked away with she did not communicate well. That is her responsibility to make sure understanding takes place and asking the right questions would make this possible rather than just ending abruptly. If you have bipolar, they do not treat this so they should take it off their site. I was told bipolar needs medication. I feel this therapist (who might be very good) did not communicate to me the competence needed for an assessment (which is a really big deal when I am trying to figure out what has been going on in my life). Looking back, age is a significant matter. I am over 50 and there are significant stages in life. If someone is younger they might not understand the "death by a 1000 paper cuts" of one's life. I recommend starting the first minute or two getting centered in a simple mediation, especially with this location which is very intense (405, Wilshire, parking). Bottom line, I walk out of office only to drive two hours in HORRID traffic clueless. I just dropped $275 being out of work for what? I emailed her and she said I am "Pure OCD" OK...I thought she needed more time to finish the assessment? I would think a personal phone call to discuss these results in order for that money. That would communicate some dignity. But I guess it really doesn't matter what your assessment is if the solution is the same. The website really is deceptive in this way because it did not match my experience with the therapist. Again, she might be very good, but it is up to her to communicate this and in my judgment, she needs to really work on how to conduct an assessment: take time to explain and connect, make the patient feel comfortable (this isn't a meeting about my taxes), demonstrate competence, lead the questioning in a manner that moves in a direction and take control of the time, have a proper conclusion. I want my money back. When I am concerned that this place has my credit card info tells me she did not communicate assurance to me. Just being honest. read more

Lisa is a disgusting person. She hates her job and is only after the money. I missed work to visit the center because it was urgent, i had an episode of trichotillomania, whis is a disorder in which u pull ur own hair out when ur stressed or have anxiety. I wanted help. I finally got a hold of Lisa, which i was told was the lady in charge for trichotillomania, only to find out she's completely bitter and rude person. She did not want to help me with a simple note that i had requested due to missed day at work from my episode of trich. She also said i interrupted the lady at the center who in fact was by herself asking me if i needed help and she told me to call Lisa. Just rude. When i spoke to Lisa on the phone and explained my episode she completely ignored me, cut me off, and said they dont take walk ins and i need to pay 120 to 200 per session. Its sad we have this disgusting human being as a coordinator for mental illness disorders.. go someowhere else!! Go to someone who genuinely cares. I hope this saves u guys time. Therapy at the OCD Center of Los Angeles with Kelley Franke completely changed my life for the better. I had postpartum OCD after giving birth to my daughter and was absolutely terrified before coming here. Kelley Franke was the kindest, most genuine, and caring therapist I have ever encountered. She made sure that I was well educated and really taught me how to teach myself when it came to OCD. She used an approach that also tackled other issues in my life so that I can better handle anything and everything. I no longer have to let my thoughts control me, I have no real trouble with OCD anymore, and I can now be the wife, daughter, friend, musician and mother I have always wanted to be. I can't recommend Kelley and the OCD Center enough! I am so glad I was able to get the help I needed and I am confident that if any issues arise in the future, I will always have resources and help here. Please get help here if you are struggling. You will acquire the tools to help yourself throughout the journey of life, and if you put in the effort, you can live a much more full, value-based, calm, and centered life! My name is Dillon Edwards, and I'm from Washington state. I've been through countless therapists, psychiatrists - you name it - and none of them have seemed to work for me throughout this 6 year "battle of the mind" I've had. So, as you can guess - I was a total skeptic when my family had me fly down here and try this place. This was my "last resort" so-to-speak. Regardless of my skepticism, I decided to come in with an open mind and I'm so incredibly happy that I did. I don't have time to be down here for the "full treatment", just one month (still down here as I'm writing this) however, I can say in the 5 visits I've already had; I've learned more about myself and my disorder than I've learned in the past 6 years of my life. My eyes have been "opened." I can't say that I'm "cured" by any means, as I still have a long ways to go in the process, and also understand this is a lifelong journey. I don't understand the previous reviews. Everyone I have dealt with here, from the people who do the intake over the phone to the amazing therapist they set us up with (Elizabeth Kassel) has been efficient, courteous and caring. My daughter has struggled for several years with stomach issues (nausea mostly) that caused her to miss lots of school and more importantly was making her life miserable, and ours very stressed over what could possibly be wrong with her. After countless doctors, therapists, acupuncturists, invasive treatments, meds, etc. I found the OCD center. It turns out that my daughter's underlying issues came from anxiety, and were manifesting as nausea. Its a long road, but finally my daughter is getting the help that she needs, and she is living her life again. I am so grateful to Elizabeth Kassel and the OCD center- its like finding a needle in a haystack to find the right therapist, and after 2 long stressful years I feel like she (and we as a family) are finally on the road back to health. read more
