The summer workers are gone, so they are left with less staff. Those that are left are not happy for whatever reason. Queuing for the Thunderbird was left up to the guests. We did a good job! The Corn Maze (is that redundant?) was fun and difficult, but a staff member helping people in the maze was grumpy. At closing time for the maze (4:30) a staff member, also unhappy, helped those still in the maze to get out. We cut through the corn, which is what the first staff member was grumpy about! Wanted a turkey bowl at Plymouth Rock Cafe. One line open and crowded. I was halfway through the line when they ran out of turkey. It would be 45 minutes before they had more. Chicken and dumplings it is, then. They were barely OK. Although it was a fresh batch, it was barely warm. The stuffing was OK. The corn had a lot of pepper on it. They never announced the situation with the turkey. Once again, we were on our own, and we did fine getting the word out. When the turkey did run out, there was 15 minutes of inactivity while the staff tried to figure out what they were doing. A few guests at the front of the line were visibly angry. It is 2023 after all. They're out of turkey? Switch gears. Life will go on. Should they have run out? Probably not. You train for that. I've never been able to get excited about Holiday World food. The drinks are still free. The fountain at Plymouth Rock Cafe was not cleaned well, and you can taste it. Blech. Parking is still free. Sunblock is still free. The park is immaculately clean. But prices have increased. The park is still four roller coasters surrounded by state-fair-type rides. There will be a new family-friendly boomerang-type roller coaster next year. You get to sit in a potato. Really.

The prices for the park during happy holiday weekends are $30 compared to the $60 normally so that was good. They are always able to answer questions and direct me towards the items I need. They have so many great cooking tools you may need. I bought a nice pizza stone for my oven and am in love with it so far. In the future, I hope to take a cooking class here. I hear that they are a lot of fun!

We arrived about 12:30 on Saturday, June 18th. Rang the bell, no answer. Tried all the doors and all were locked. Called every number listed when prompted by their phone system. Na-da. Sadly, a man come by at the same time looking for a special event tickets that were offered for Father's Day by the museum. We are disappointed that the museum didn't have any notification of this closure. We understand things happen but notice for your patrons would be appreciated.

Many of the plays they put on here are great, but I take issue with their smoking during…read moreproductions without warning or notice to audience members. It has happened three times now that my husband and I have had to leave productions due to smoke. There are no warnings about it on their webpage, nor their flyers, nor does anyone tell you about it when you call for tickets. Quite to the contrary: their programs explicitly say that smoking is not allowed in any building on the UE campus. They are willing to let people pay for tickets, take time out of their night, pay for babysitters, and turn down alternative plans only to have to leave a production 20 minutes into it with a headache. Even though we left the play once it was apparent there would be smoking all the way through, we were told there would be no refunds or credits available. I've been in many theaters all over the US- New York, San Francisco, Houston, Nashville - and not a single one has had smoking on stage. If they can figure out how to keep the dramatic effect of the play without the actual smoke, why can't Evansville? At the very least, the smoking should be advertised so that people can be in choice about whether to spend the time and money. As it stands, it seems clear that the policies are set up to hide this fact until they already have their money in hand. My husband and I have season tickets this year and will not be renewing them until this policy changes. Buyer beware - you may be walking into a smokey theater without warning if you see a play here.

I want to applaud Goebel for the work they did to provide a safe environment to the players and spectators. Masks were required for all on fields and parking lots (except for players during a game only), per the Evansville indoor and outdoor mask mandate. The staff did a great job of enforcing this and asking spectators, nicely, to comply. The bathrooms were kept cleaned and stocked with hand soap, tp, and sanitizers. The fields were clear, clean, and well-marked for all the games. The only con was that there were several deep holes around the fields that were easy to trip over and should be filled. Bleachers were marked off to keep people off of them during COVID. There are paved walkways to most of the fields, making it an easier walk especially when toting wagons, etc. Plenty of parking and easy in/out access.
