We absolutely love LCYC!…read more My son started in the Two's program and is now in the Three's classroom, and we've had such a wonderful experience every step of the way. The staff is incredible--many even have their own children enrolled or previously enrolled, which really shows how much they believe in the program. LCYC truly feels like a community of parents and teachers working together to help the kids learn and grow. The smaller class sizes make such a difference and really allow for personalized attention. My son has become so much more independent, and he's thriving academically and socially. It's been amazing watching the relationships he's built with both the staff and the other children. We couldn't be happier, and I highly recommend LCYC to any parent looking for a nurturing, high-quality early learning environment.

It's important for me to know that my son isn't just another number on their roster. My son has really enjoyed LcYC the last two years and we are very happy with the program and curriculum. Next year my Daughter will be attending as well and u can't wait for her to learn and grow with the great teachers and staff that LCYc has. The new director Mrs Rana has also done a lot of great things with the school and I know from other parents comments that they are very happy with the new direction the school is taking with her in charge.

Once Ms. Sahshi came on board, things went to an even better place. She is such a great director. My son loved his teachers: Ms. Fereshteh and Ms. Erica. There's another teacher he absolutely adores, but I forgot her name. I watch them clean the toys daily. They take the kids out and they get plenty of exercise. The teachers really treat the kids like their own. It's a personal experience. I've also had parties their and the school is very accommodating. All the teachers really teach the kids. My son was so far advanced when he entered Pre-K because of his teachers at Childway.

It's wonderful to see the strong bonds between our daughter and her teachers. My daughter loves GLC so much that she tries to negotiate with me to stay longer every day. There's a lot of parent involvement, too, which gives you this instant community. There are play groups on the weekend once a month, and you have the opportunity to attend many fun family events. We highly recommend GLC!

It is a wonderful environment for children: nurturing, fun, and educational -- they did a great job of preparing my older son for kindergarten. It is also convenient for parents; they basically only close for federal holidays and follow the UMD status for snow days. It is a not for profit organization, with a board comprised of volunteer parents, which keeps tuition rates reasonable.

We had our daughter in this facility for about 2 months, owing to a brief period in which both of…read moreus parents had to work. The manager has a pleasant and optimistic demeanor, as does the assistant manager. We liked the information sheet idea, so we could clearly communicate the daily situation. The staff usually just put "She had a wonderful day! :-) " however, and it was hard to understand exactly what transpired, or why every day was so wonderful (like N. Korea!). Although well appointed with colorful and safe play furniture, the facility is badly in need of a deep cleaning. As you enter, the vestibule walls are smeared with what seems like years of residue from very young hands. The entry system is confusing and arbitrary: we were given a code to use until our personal code was ready, but we were never given the 2nd code, so we continued using the first one. There were supposed to be sign in sheets for each parent, but it took two weeks for that to be prepared. The sign-in system is entirely voluntary, which seems to be a liability issue for both parent and school! Often, upon entry, there was no one manning the front office. The staff was highly fluid even in the two months and our baby had no fewer than 5 different staff during that time, most of which seemed to be transferred or quit shortly after they worked in the place. A few annoying things we disliked included that staff often peeked out of the front window to see what parent was about to enter. Also, the infant room was divided into two sides, and our baby was often not visible through the room window. Infants were allowed to crawl away from the carpeted areas and on to the linoleum floor and this was not safe, nor were the three wooden rocking chairs, which were a danger to falling toddlers. Finally, it took a good month for our account to be set up so we could pay on line; this seemed to be a company-wide issue, however.

The teachers are well qualified and Mrs. Gee, the director, is very involved in the enrichment of the staff, parents, and children alike. There was one experience that will never leave me that demonstrated the value of such a wonderful place like the Greenbelt Children's Center-one afternoon I had gone to pick up my sons and found that the children were next door in a recreational room at a concert that had been arranged by the staff. I went in the room and found Mrs.G on the floor with my son and her arm around him, comforting him after a long day. I could see from several feet away that she truly has a passion for what she does and she greatly cares for the children. The center enforces healthy meals and snacks, ensures proper hand-washing of the children constantly to prevent the spread of germs, and the security protocol implemented is comforting, knowing that my children are safe when I leave them in their care. The kids loved having swimming 3 times a week and swimming lessons as an option. My only concern was the price, especially when I had to pay double the tuition for 2, however you can't put a price on a quality facility like GCC. I love GCC and hope that I will be able to afford several more summers there for my children. The experience was unforgettable.
