Recently switched my son to this childcare center. It has been a great experience all around. My kiddo is well fed, coming home clean of potty accidents and honestly he is a lot happier here than at his previous daycare. I am so glad we made the move. Very kind and professional staff. Clean and the kids are happy, well cared for and get to do creative activities. I have 3 children. We've tried a variety of childcare and preschool options. Some of the negative reviews I've read site incident reports for children biting etc. This is typical toddler behavior. We've experienced it everywhere we've been. Even in elementary schools. The lighthouse staff is professionally trained, educated and continually refreshed on how to guide developing children through a variety of developmental bumps in the road. Our experience is not far off from at least 3 other family's experiences, based on what I gathered after discussing with the other parents. I will say that their Infant and Toddler Center was acceptable. The same is NOT true for the larger Children's Lighthouse building in Olathe. About a month ago, on my kid's 3rd birthday, we transitioned to the bigger building, and that's when the problems started again. Immediately, the sheer amount of time those kids were left in front of a TV stood out to me. LET me tell you, they were on it every other hour. Guys, every other hour. I'm not kidding. My kid was being taught by the TV, not his teachers. It wasn't even educational things on TV. It was spiderman and other cartoons like that. Also, during parent night, the center said that their 3s room was very structured and a lot of kids usually have a hard time with it at first. That made sense. I was happy, at first, to know that they prided themselves on structure and curriculum, but when she said structured she MEANT structure. They were never allowed to get up from the table if the teacher said it was table time. They were always forced to sit down, either on the carpet or at the table, with nothing to play with. Occasionally they would have a toy here and there but most of the time they were forced to sit and do not get up. Multiple times I saw them being forced to sit on the carpet and watch TV for a whole hour. Not allowed to get up not allowed to play. So, at the end of the day my son came home with pent-up energy, didn't want to watch TV and just wanted to run around like crazy and play. The teachers never showed any of the kids attention, so, of course, my kid always wanted all my attention when we got home. Not to mention, most of the teachers are only there because their children get free childcare so they are only there for that reason, not because they have a passion for childcare. Overall, my son's behavior has changed completely since he started, and it makes me so sad. I am extremely frustrated with the daycare. I complained five times in our VERY short period at the center. It took me complaining to the director over the different light House locations and for me to let them know that we will be taking my kid out for them to take any action. Unfortunately, it was not even close to what I was seeing in reality. I do not recommend Children's Lighthouse and parents need to know what their kids are doing all day! The director over all the lighthouses is amazing, don't get me wrong. She took action pretty fast which a lot has changed but I still will see the tv on more than I would like. At the end of the day, even if they changed some things, I still didn't feel comfortable with being my son there. I also just recently pulled up the camera and witnessed my sons teacher grabbing a kids arm yelled at him and then movies him away from the table. She also processed to do that to one more child ! I am livid!! People need to know what goes on at Childrens light house! Let's all come together and keep our kids save y'all ! read more

I am a teacher at children's lighthouse of Olathe and love working with the amazing team we have here, everyone is so good with the kids and truly loves what they do, you can see it in how happy the kids are everyday and there is so many amazing activities for the kids everyday especially around the holidays, like grinch day, and holiday pajama day, also the owner Aspen really takes care of her staff, she does things for us weekly to show her appreciation to us all like getting us meals and Christmas presents, the front staff AJ and Kayla and Kelly are amazing they helps us teachers out so much and the parents that need anything, I really love working here and also have a daughter that goes here read more

Administration doesn't take concerns seriously. They gaslight and quote policies that change on a whim. Parents are not informed of these changes until after an issue arises, and then they use these "changed policies" as some kind of backup for their incompetence. I had never ending payment issues while using my Army Childcare Aware program. The daycare does not take a proactive stance on anything. My child would get diaper rash every week. We would get it to go away over the weekend, only to have it come back during the week at daycare. They were good at the beginning of the pandemic with COVID safety standards, but once leadership changed, they decided employee comfort was more important than the children. My daughter was exposed to COVID for an entire week before they let the parents know on a Friday afternoon. They wouldn't tell me if my kid was directly exposed, stating it was a HIPPA violation to ask that (that's not even remotely how HIPPA works) talked to the boss lady and she said I COULD ask that, and informed me that my daughter was in fact exposed. They then told the parents that we must provide a negative COVID test by Monday, when no pediatrician offices are open over the weekend. They said go get it done at CVS. CVS does not test kids under 3. So we made a doctors appointment for later that week (wednesday). We obviously weren't trying to get our kid into daycare until she had a negative test, but the daycare charged us for an entire week of care anyways. They stated it was daycare policy that parents give a two week notice of absence before they would not charge for a week of care. WE DIDN'T CREATE THIS PROBLEM, their employee did, so why would you make the parents jump through all these hoops AND charge them. After all was said and done, we made the decision to pull our daughter out of the daycare and will be going somewhere else. The other place has a waiting list, but I'd rather suffer through trying to figure out how to work full time and watch my kid, than have her exposed to diseases and people who don't care about how their business practices effect families. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!! If I could give a 0 star I would. I toured the facility and everything seemed great. We started our 14 month old in the part time program and he cried at drop off the first couple weeks. I knew this was just a transition phase and he would get used to being there. But after weeks of attendance, his crying turned to screaming and running after me as I left the room. The afternoon teachers would inform me that he'd been crying and upset since they had been in there (2 plus hours) and weren't sure what was wrong. I started feeling pretty uneasy because I didn't know how much of the day he spent crying and what was making him cry and scared to be there. I then started noticing little things- every time I picked him up he was in a different classroom which I'm assuming is due to staffing issues (I understand that happens in every industry but we're talking about children along with $127 for the day for my child to attend). This leads to cross contamination of sicknesses especially with a lack of cleaning procedure the center (doesn't) takes. We were not informed of Hand, Foot, and Mouth exposure until after a sick child had gotten it, been quarantined (7-10 days), and cleared to come back to daycare then there was a sign on the door saying my child could've been exposed. I then had to figure out what to do with my son as I'm doing drop off because there had been no notification of the exposure until I showed up at daycare. Not only was he in a different classroom but it was always a different teacher keeping him in the afternoons when I would pick him up so he couldn't even get familiar with who was keeping him because it was always changing. We received a 30% price increase 6 weeks after starting the daycare. I reached out to the director for a grace period as we couldn't come up with that kind of money in a 3 week time period they gave to the parents. In which I received a response that they would waive the 2 week notice for me to find somewhere else to send my child (if you're looking for daycare you obviously know how long it takes to get into a new daycare). They sent an email saying they were looking at other daycare center rates and decided they needed to raise their prices to be closer to the other daycares in price. I asked how they planned on using that money (what I've been told is there's not even an oven, they use an air fryer to warm up food) in the facility because there's plenty of room for improvement on that and they informed me it was going to their staff. The staff I talked to either did not receive a pay increase or it was very minimal. So where it was that money going? Right into someone's bank account. I was informed by another parent after we left that a staff member has recently been fired for ABUSE of a 3 year old. PARENTS THIS IS SCARY!!!! I had an awful gut feeling every time I dropped my son off and I did not know why. We were finally able to find a different option and pulled him out of Children's Lighthouse after about 9-10 weeks of attending part time. I am learning more about how bad the center is now that we have removed our child from their care and I feel so sad and guilty that I took him in there ever. They have cameras but it costs $40 PER week on top of tuition. They do not want parents to be watching those cameras. WHY!!! This place is sketchy and I will NEVER recommend this daycare. I have talked to so many parents or people that know someone that sent their child here and had terrible experiences. I mean read the reviews. I wish I would've taken these reviews more seriously and not put my child in this position or given a single dollar to keep a center like this going. If you're looking for an amazing daycare send your child to Agape Montessori School. My older son has been attending fro a few years and it's better in every single way and it was cheaper!! They care for my child and they are so kind from the top to the bottom. I've read the positive reviews on here and I'm glad some parents have felt like they had a good experience here but look for any other option because the positive experiences seem few compared to the negative light I've had and know of. This review is already too long and I feel like I just scratched the surface of how terrible of a facility I know this place to be. I will be spreading the word to anyone and everyone just like so many other parents that have tried this daycare. Good luck in your searches! It's a hard time to find childcare. read more

It's a beautiful place. But that's about it. When I toured this place last year, I was impressed with what seemed to be a very organized and clean environment. There were no spots available for my baby then, so I went to a different daycare that was super close by and had a spot available while I waited for one to open up at this place. They spoiled me rotten at the "temporary" daycare, where my infant daughter was involved in many activities, such as sign language, yoga, had books read to her, was encouraged to explore materials and also interacted with different babies at different stages, but all under one year old. She loved the hustle-and-bustle, the teachers at the "temporary" school loved her and I trusted them. One week before I moved her to Children's Lighthouse I got an e-mail saying that my baby was going to start at the facility "right next door" - which was in a strip mall. No one ASKED if I wanted to be there, they just assigned her there. After a few e-mails back and forth, they finally asked me whether I'd like my baby to stay at the main building and I agreed, but by this time I was already somewhat leery of the place. I arrived in the morning to drop her off, told them her schedule, what she liked, left her bottles and signed up for the webcasting so I could keep an eye on things. It broke my heart to see that none of the fun activities she had at the "temporary" school happened here. She was given a couple of toys, but most of the time she was in a bouncy chair or a swing, and she was almost sitting up. So when I went to pick her up, and when I arrived she was lying on the floor bawling her eyes out while the care provider talked to another mom. That made me mad - I spent a couple of minutes trying to calm my baby down. I also got one full bottle back, which later made me realize that they were giving her the same bottle over and over again until she finished it - a BIG NO-NO, since breastmilk and formula should be discarded after 1h if it touches a baby's mouth. Don't they know this? So they kept re-heating and feeding the same bottle over and over? Also, the daily report I got was always missing things, like naps and diaper changes - it also never had any notes on what my kid was learning (unlike the report I got at the "temporary" school). On the following day, I asked the main caregiver about books, sign language, yoga and all the other activities, to which I got vague answers (oh, yeah, I can give her books). I also explained to her about diapering - I use baby powder and only use diaper cream when it seems like she has diaper rash. After watching the webcam that day I realized that I DID NOT want my baby to go there - it took me two days and that was it. So I got in touch with the "temporary" daycare to see if I could take her back and the owner actually worked something out for me, which made the "temporary" daycare go up even more in my esteem. The daily report I got was always missing things, like naps and diaper changes - it also never had any notes on what my kid was learning (unlike the report I got at the "temporary" school). My baby stayed at Children's Lighthouse for two weeks, since I had to give 2 weeks notice in order to leave. So when I went to pick my baby and her things up from Children's Lighhouse, they forgot to return the baby powder. When I went to pick it up, I asked the main care provider if she had ever used it and she said no - proof that she did not listen when I explained how we diapered our baby at home. I wish they would invest more in staff training and also learn not to just "inform" people of changes, but actually ask them what they'd like to do. read more

This has been the funnest place I have worked at by far! The kids are a blast to be with and the curriculum they use truly works. These kids are smart and understand. I love getting to watch them grow and learn. I also love finally working somewhere where my hard work is acknowledged and appreciated. It has gotten me far in a short amount of time. There is a lot of reward with this job and the environment is welcoming and great! I couldn't ask for a better company to work for. Very unprofessional staff, managers do not handle inappropriate behavior of teachers at all. The building is nice and clean but when it comes to the teachers the turnover rate is high and I have had many instances where they yelled at the children as parents were picking their kids up, I also witnessed a teacher aggressively grab a students arm. They require you to bring supplies such as toothpaste but do not actually brush the childrens teeth at all during the day. I would not reccomend this daycare for any child. This is an amazing place! The teachers are warm, caring, creative, and treat my baby with such tender loving care! Her development was of upmost concern for me when choosing a daycare at 3 months old, and Children's Lighthouse Infant and Toddler center has been more than impressive, from sign language to art projects, and socialization I couldn't imagine a better place for our little girl!! The security is top notch and I love that I can see what my baby is up to with the video monitoring! If you need a daycare, choose CLH!! read more

My two boys go to Children's Lighthouse and we absolutely love it. I can't begin to tell you how much we adore our sons' teachers. My first child started attending when the school opened, and both of our children are currently at the smaller building. My two year old has been at Children's Lighthouse since they opened and he attended a well-known, well-respected daycare before that we weren't happy with. I was honestly bothered leaving my son at his first daycare, so he began at Children's Lighthouse as soon as they opened when he was 10 months old. I've been very pleased with all of the teachers he has had, and I think the world of his teachers in the two year old room. My son is very particular and he sometimes has a difficult time socializing, but his teachers are incredibly patient and nurturing. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Ms. Amber and Ms. Andrea, and I've seen so many improvements with my son. He is learning so much! My two year old can count to fifteen-- and mumbles to 20 :) and he's known all of his colors for at least six months now and his favorite shape is an oval-- or diamond-- it depends on the day. He even told me what a hexagon is... My two year old knows what a hexagon is! Most importantly, though, his teachers really care about him. They make sure he feels secure and loved, and I can't put a price on that. My 9 month old son has been at Children's Lighthouse since he was 2.5 months old. His teachers, Ms. Devin and Ms. Gabby, are amazing. My little boy is so loved. When I take him to his classroom, he gets the biggest grin on his face when he sees Ms. Devin. That in itself says so much about the care he receives. The communication his teachers provide is exceptional, and I'm just beside myself with the artwork they send home with us. Plus, my son has been able to sign milk since he was 8 months old! I've been delighted with both infant rooms since he started. And lastly, I am so impressed with the management. Ms. Christina and Ms. Sarah both have a special place in our hearts. When I was due with my second child, we didn't have family in state to help us with our first son during delivery, but Ms. Christina worked with us and was so flexible and understanding of our situation. There's not a day that goes by that I don't look forward to seeing Ms. Christina and Ms. Sarah and chatting with them. They are like family to us. They're witnesses to both my children growing up, and they know us as a family. I can't describe that level of comfort but it means the world. read more

The only reason why I'm giving 1 star is because I have to in order to write a review. The facility is very clean, very neat, shiny and new, fun activities and cool "stuff".... But if you scratch below the surface at all you'll see that it's not that wonderful. The director is not involved when she needs to be. Office staff wanted to move our son to the 3s room to separate me and his teacher instead of trying to help our toddler with his behavior and lack of paying attention. They seem to severely lack in developmentally appropriate practices. If your child is anything other than "perfectly" behaved then buckle up for a ride with them. In 5 months time our son had 5 teachers in two rooms and they wondered why he couldn't get into a routine and "adapt", the teacher turn over is horrible. Our last teacher stepped way out of line (several times) informing us of their suspicion of our child having "signs of autism". Telling us (first time parents) that he needs to be evaluated by infant and toddler services (in front of other parents on the playground). When our child was found to have nothing "wrong" with him by infant toddler services things went from bad to worse . He was ignored for 75% of the day, because they don't know how to "deal with a child like him". He was crying everyday when we picked him him up. He had behavior problems at home and at school (now we know it's because he was ignored most of the day and needing any attention he could get). He couldn't sit through a 25 minute circle time (which is too long for a 2 1/2 year old, not age appropriate, according to our evaluator at infant toddler services and our pediatrician). We quickly removed our son when we saw he was laying on a bookshelf with his shoes off with no one watching him and when his behavior became out of control at school. This is only tip of the iceberg for all we went through. After moving him to a different school the day after we pulled him from CLH his interaction with other children, imagination, temper, sleep habits, language, everything improved in 1 week.... At school and at home. If anything I urge you to explore all your options. Don't get caught up in the glitz and the glamour, it's not all it's cracked up to be. read more

Do not take your children to the infant room. The staff is absolutely neglectful and lazy. Back at the end of May my wife and I were moving and so we wanted a daycare that was closer to home and decided on CLH as it seemed to be clean and from what we saw the staff seemed nice. However things drastically went down hill after our 6 month old started. First off our son is prone to getting ear infections and we had asked the staff to make sure he received his medicine and if they could suction out his nose because he had a bit of a cold. We told them his nose bulb was in his bag. To our surprise this wasn't happening. We were told "he spit out his medicine so we just didn't give him anymore and we don't know how much he got". When I asked why we didn't receive a call it seemed like that had never occurred to them. Also when we asked if his nose was suctioned out they said no they couldn't find his nose bulb it in his bag. I opened the bag up and it was right on top. A few more incidents occurred such as bottles not being fed to him diaper changes not being recorded and his sleep patterns not documented. However the final straw came when his grandmother came to pick him up. To provide a little background my wife and I started to become increasingly wary of the services that were being provided. We'd pick our son up and he would sleep for almost 4 hours, he always had bags under his eyes and he just seemed like he was exhausted. Weirdly whenever we came to pick him up it always seemed like a staff member was holding him. So when grandma came in to get him we found out what had really been happening. All these children were sitting on the floor playing while one employee was sitting on the ground. Behind her trying to crawl into her to get her attention was my son laying face down and screaming. His voice was horse and his face was beat red as if he'd been crying for a long time. When my mother picked him up and asked why her grandson was like this they rudely said "he's having a hard to not being held". He's six months old and no not a single other employee was engaged with a child. They then asked who she was and when she told them they had this "oh we've been caught" look on their face. Even worse when we told them we were pulling our son out they wouldn't let my wife go back to get his stuff. They went back and brought back about a third of his stuff and we had to keep telling them he was missing stuff and then they would go back and get it. It almost felt like they were trying to keep it. The staff was incredibly rude and lackadaisical. read more

The school was very clean and you could tell it was taken care of as it is brand new- which was a huge plus for me, I really like the original teacher my child was placed with, Mrs. Juile- she was AMAZING . She was helping my child to become potty trained with a strict bathroom schedule. Once the school year started in August they bumped my child up a class as the staff was stuffing the classes as full as regulations would allow, and they weren't ready. On NUMEROUS occasions my child had not only had soiled pants numerous times at pick up- but POOP crusted to her booty and pants, and when I asked the teacher she simply said" yeah, wow that's really bad teaching on my part" I could NEVER take my child anywhere following picking her up from school because she was always so filthy. Also- they claim to give a personalized sheet daily to inform you of your child's food intake, naps, moods etc. They would write one out and just make copies for everyone else- and just write each child's name on it. I'm sorry but that is just lazy. I would stay and watch after I left my child in the room- and I would see the young teachers texting on their phones during " circle time"- as im watching thru the window! For as much as you pay- nah I would prefer to pick up my child from a provider who wont allow my child to have poop dried and crusted to her butt cheeks.... read more
