Yes they have some nice things but if you're black don't shop here. They are so racist that they can't hide it. I've been there 3 X's and they create a problem for me each time. Especially the special daughter. She doesn't want to serve me so she comes up with a reason to run to the back. Once the owner mother asked me "Did you pay for that? While I was just still shopping. I've been wanting to visit this place for years and when I finally was able to get a chance to go I left so disappointed. We came today which seemed to be a busy day for them, the person in the back of the store going through items was super uninviting not sure her role but she kept coming out from the back checking in on us and we felt so uncomfortable we bought a few items and left. The staff were friendly, but I was frustrated with the resale process. Their advertising promotes cash for recycling children's clothing, which is why I decided to bring in about 60 pieces of name-brand athletic attire in excellent condition. Instead of cash, I was only offered about $1 per item in store credit. In store credit! While I understand resale shops need to price items competitively, I believe Children's Orchard should stand by what they advertise and provide clearer, more consistent evaluations. Families who choose to recycle high-quality clothing deserve compensation that reflects both the condition and the brand. Friendly service is important, but trust in the resale process is just as critical. read more

Service when taking items for "buying" is great, fairly good prices for what you'd get any where else and INSTANTLY (same day). I've been to this store five times, and it's absolutely not worth it. Almost everything is $5 or more which is a joke considering I've brought bags upon bags of brand name, barely worn clothing and only received a total of $40 in store credit. Trying to get cash, WHICH THEY ADVERTISE, is like pulling teeth. The selling process is a nightmare. No appointments. You just have to put your name on a list and wait. I've had to stand there for over an hour before. What parents have that kind of time? It takes so long to check out because they're using a register that looks like it's from the 90's. The young woman who works there is always fumbling and confused. The older woman with white hair is downright rude. The unpleasant experience is simply not worth the few dollars you might get back. I'd rather donate my children's clothes to an organization that cares. I can buy a $5 shirt at Target. read more

Visited the store with such high hopes only to be met with such disappointment. I was looking at the Halloween costumes while my three kids were looking at the toys. Then comes the manager with such a horrible attitude completely pushing her way through my three little kids to put away all the toys they were touching. My husband called her attention telling her what she did was rude and all she could say was that she's a "pick-up monster" and that "she didn't see us there". Before us there were other little ones touching all the toys and they were never bothered by the "pick-up monster". The so called mess My kids made, was made by the previous little ones. safe To say the manager does not like anyone who is not white. Super friendly staff. I am really new to this type of selling and am feeling a bit regretful. I have had a few days to process and I could have thought it out better. Selling online is the better way and it takes more time. I had impeccable brand new items with tags. Now that I have had the time to think about it they were giving maybe a 1.00 or less with items that had tags on them. I did not bring in used items like the people in line with me, I wish they would have given me a break down. I has the inventory that I sold to them online and now I realize that i was duped. I was naive. It is my fault really. This is not a place I would return to in the future. I definitely contributed to their profits for the year so I guess that is a good thing on my part. When you walk through the door, you see a lot of high-quality cool stuff, but keep in mind you're not in a thrift shop, you're in a consignment store. So forget about finding goodwill pricing here, as everything here is priced at full retail, perhaps in some cases more. With that said, what you will find here is some really high-quality very good merchandise. There's a little bit of everything possible to be found, and it's ever changing. If you look, you can find some really good deals, they even have built in depreciation prices, i.e. the longer an item sits, the price comes down. If you're in Manhattan Beach, you've passed them plenty of times. They often display merchandise outside. Located very close to Manhattan Village, they are in a great location. Convenient parking around back. Worth a look, you never know what you'll find! read more

Im new to thrifting for kids stuff so I wish I would have read the reviews before I came here and spent money. This place reminds me why I prefer thrifting online. The ladies here kept telling us they were very busy but still found the time to hover so much and wouldn't leave me alone. One lady didn't seem to like that I didn't really want her help and wanted to browse myself, that when she saw me in the girls section (I had come in with my toddler boy) she condescendingly came over to say "well ok do you even know how the store is laid out, the boys section is over there." I should have just left at that point cause I really wanna be left alone in a store or like in my everyday life in general haha. I wasn't even there for the clothes I was there for the books but was just casually looking at the toys they had all over the store. But no I stayed and bought some books and some toys my son liked, as another lady hovered and tried to upsell me. The prices there for the toys and clothes were super high as well, the book prices were OK but not great. will not be coming back. If your trying to resale any cloth don't come to this place. They ripped you off and then resale the same item for 10x what they give you for it. I recently went in with brand cloth n in great condition (some even new)worth almost at least $80 and I was offered $16.46 in store credit! I went back this week to try to use my $16.46 store credit and I saw one of my items selling for $12.99! This place takes advantage of people with they're ridiculous overpriced items. I'm never coming to this place to resale or even buy. You're better off donating cloth to a church or something. read more

I buy and sell here. I buy more than sell bc they give you ridiculously low offers for good stuff. The owners need a course in customer service. Carol and her daughters (Cindy and carrie) are incredibly short and rude. They're friendly enough with people they know well but since I'm here only 1-2 times a month I'm not here often enough for them to remember and they're so unwelcoming. They take forever and a half to buy and are annoyed when you stand there. I was told it would take 5 minutes to be seen but it took 1:15. Set the expectations for people when they're selling bc saying it'll only take 5 minutes and then having to wait an incredibly long time. They give incredibly poor offers for good items and don't actually show you how much they're pricing the items for. So she told me my items were valued at $37 but she took quite a bit of stuff and didn't show me how much she actually is going to sell the items for. I had expensive name brand stuff which is hard to believe they're only going to sell for $37 given that some of the same brands go for $10-16 per item and she took about 15 items. I feel totally swindled. I will never sell their again. I would even be okay with the value if I wasn't treated like total garbage. Take a course in basic customer service. read more

This place needs help with their online sales. Whatever their system is, it's not working. I bought a listed item on their website, paid and even got a confirmation email. However, this afternoon received a text saying that the item was no longer available and they'd refund my money and give a $5 store credit. Unfortunately, this is not satisfactory for me. I'd much rather receive the item that I purchased. They either didn't take the item off the floor and someone in store bought it OR they resold it for more on eBay. Either way, bad business. Suggestion: items posted on your website should be kept in the back room to avoid in store shoppers from purchasing simultaneously as online shoppers. read more

My second favorite kids consignment store in LA. This one is the best if you've got to trek down from north LA because the other one is in Torrance. Great clothing finds for when you get sick of the same Gap, Carters, Old Navy stuff. Great place to try out the various sleep sacks or overpriced baby stuff at discounted prices in order to find the one that works for your babe. Books, toys, clothes are oftentimes just under what the price would be if you bought new. Still, I enjoy seeing the diversity of selection and not contributing to amazon's price gauging for the same 20 childhood books every parent buys.... read more

I really don't understand all the negative reviews on here. My experience is for both a seller and a buyer. I went in with a bunch my my children's clothes with both kiddos on tow. I was promptly greated and they took my clothes right away to sort through. The owner was very nice and told me that we could either look around, or that the kids could play with the toys around the corner while we waited. I decided to look around since they were going to give store credit for the clothes. They had a huge selection of clothes, toys, shoes, jackets and even baby gear/strollers/bouncers. When she was done looking through my things, I was offered a price. She let me look to see what she was keeping and what she was leaving (due to minor stains that I didn't see at home). I thought the price she offered me was fair so I accepted. I bought some really cute dresses for my daughter that look brand new that I can't wait for her to wear, a fun push car for my son and I still have over $100 credit left for next time I come in! I'm so happy I found this place! It's so much easier than selling online. No boxes, shipping and trips to the post office. Yay! read more
