I thought it was just my experience, then I came on Yelp and noticed so many reviews with experiences just like mine. I unfortunately agree with the other messages. I came inside with my two kids, and the employee is too busy talking to one of her friends across the counter. Didn't even acknowledge me for a long time. Does this lady not know that parents are willing to spend so much money just for their children? We are the ideal customers, but we're getting ignored? If I were the owner reading this review, I would really consider changing staff or doing some hospitality trainings. The place has a lot of potential but it's getting squandered by the staff's inability to be hospitable. I truly hope they can turn things around! read more

Very small and cute kids store. The 2 women working were kind and pleasant, greeting us, and checking on us multiple times to see if we needed anything. There was a good selection of clothing, toys, and books. There was a bunch of really cute outfits and pajamas. A little pricey for us at the moment, but I wouldn't say it's overpriced. Every time I go here, I hope things have changed, but I always leave feeling disappointed. They have great inventory and great brands, so it's great in a pinch when you want something from smaller brands. However, in the probably 10 times I've been to this store in the past 5 years, I've just been so off put by the owner. I learned early on not to take my kids -- despite it being a kids store -- because she will hover around you telling your kids not to touch anything even if they are well behaved. But even if you go in without kids, she barks at you for so many things. It becomes such a stressful shopping experience that most of the time I leave without anything. I'm someone who spends a lot of money on my kids clothes, and would typically spend large amounts of money at a store like this if I felt more welcome, rather than feeling on edge the whole time! I spent money there today because I needed a gift, but I'm kicking myself for not just ordering online. I love small businesses and always prefer to support them, but this one is just so painful to support solely because of the customer service. Now looking at the other reviews, I'm seeing that this is a very common theme here unfortunately, which is such a bummer since cute stores like this could thrive in areas like this! read more

A friend bought a cute outfit for my 8 month old grandson and told me I should check it out. I finally did and I was impressed with the selection and variety this boutique has. I was greeted by the sweet owner and she helped me find what I was looking for. I would have been in and out in ten minutes but I was in there for almost one hour chit-chatting with the owner and a employee. They are so sweet and down to earth. I felt like family when I left. DO NOT COME HERE EVER. The WORST staff that's not supposed to work at the kids store! We were trying to choose plush toy for our 2 year girl, it was her BIRTHDAY by the way. And she dropped a couple of toys on the floor. So one of the staff member (very unfriendly woman) asked not to throw them on the floor because IT IS DIRTY.... Why don't you care about your floors in your store and not about kids/babies that I personally hope will keep doing that all the time. HORRIBLE HOSPITALITY !!! Walked in with my daughters today as well as my sister. FIRSTLY, we were greeted with an ugly smug face of BOTHERED, like we were in the wrong place. As my youngest made her way towards the toddler purses the older lady with the tight high bun and glasses just kept looking at us not letting us look comfortably like if we were going to take something. SECONDLY, she asked us if we were done like she wanted us to get out of there. So we then we're rushing my daughter to find something so we can pay and leave. Thankfully there was another lady in there who helped us and was being sweet but when she went to ring us up my card was just doing what cards do not cooperating SO, the OLD LADY with the glasses stands over the nice lady and is questioning how we're using our card and showing us like we're dumb. It was not me, it was the card reader. We finally paid for the little item of slime and left. We were NOT happy with our experience here and it's sad because it is a very lovely boutique, but some people don't have the face Or attitude for customer service !!! read more

Me and family went to visit California back in October. We walked into Lollipop Boutique because my daughter saw Jellycats through their window display. My daughter really wanted a Jellycat and I told her later. 2 months later those jellycats are hard to find but I remembered this boutique. I called them and asked them if they'd be willing to send me a picture of what they have. Fran sends me a picture and let's me know I can purchase over the phone and she'll hold them for me. Adding a star. I had the best time in here yesterday! Lucky I had plenty of quarters in my parking meter out front, because the proprietors & I chatted for at least half an hour. I found kindred spirits. I also found a Mimi & Maggie embroidered coat sweater....on sale. The summer inventory will be coming in soon so perfect timing. I hope it fits the recipient. I actually wish it was MY size. I haven't wrapped it yet because I want to enjoy admiring it for a while longer. This is such a cute children boutique store...I am in love with Lollipop! I stopped in for the first time yesterday, and "Oooo'ed and Awww'ed" at every little thing. So many adorable dresses for little girls...toys...games...swim wear...jewelry...you name it! They do have a little boys section too! I will definitely come back to buy some more items. Perfect place if you're attending a baby shower or children birthday party, and need a last minute gift! Since all my friends are either expecting a little one or have one already...I can't wait to spoil these brats with clothes from here. Lollipop is very pricey...but it's ok, kids are worth it. PS. It's difficult owning, managing, and working a shop during a pandemic. It's also difficult when people linger and litter in front of your shop when all you're trying to do is conduct business and do your job during these stressful and unnerving times as a business owner. I applaud Lollipop for all their hard work. They are the only children's boutique in the Riviera Village and they have a great eye for all things kids, whether it's clothes, books, stuffed animals, etc. Be sensitive to not only business owners during this time, but to everyone in general. 2020 has really been a year of events and you don't know what people are going through during this difficult and uncertain time. I love shopping in the village and sharing the small town experience with family that visits from out of town. Unfortunately, this shop has forgotten how to be friendly. My sister, visiting from out of town, asked simple questions about clothing and was met with unfriendliness and a snotty attitude. She was about to buy a cute beach ball cap for her son and he needed to use a restroom (typical of a 4 year old) and when she asked if the store had a restroom she was told a firm "No". Not a reply letting her know where the nearest restroom might be. Im sad to say I won't be patronizing this store any longer. Sad, since I live only blocks away. I have been going to Lollipop (and the store that was here previously) for years. It's family owned and locally grown. The clothes and accessories are unique. For special gifts and special occasions, this is a great store. There's always something beachy, too. I have relatives & friends who live in the 909 and the Valley, so I love to send their kids things that are surf and sand-related. Lollipop also carries some classic, investment brands... coats and hats and dresses that will be treasured and stored and shared for years. I'm surprised to see reviews giving the service low ratings because I'm always greeted and helped, or left alone if I'm just looking. I'd urge first-time shoppers not to take anything personally then... go get some great gifts and get on with life. read more

I was so excited to check out this boutique after my friends raved about their cute threads. I had my son with me and was ready to buy him an outfit for Mother's Day. From the moment I walked in, to the time I left, I was not greeted once. No smile, no hello, not a glance in my or my son's direction. Clearly I should have read the reviews first before I went into the store... I found this place on Instagram and was stoked to see that it was only a couple of miles down the street from me. I am a huge proponent of supporting local businesses and enjoy buying my 6 month old son cute, one-of-a-kind pieces from local boutiques. We happened to walk by this store after breakfast and I was excited to finally get the chance to check this place out. But when I walked in, I was not even acknowledged by the salesperson behind the counter. I circled the store and then was making my way toward the back when my husband and son walked in a few minutes behind me. They were greeted when they walked in. Later, an older mom with her kids walked in behind me and were greeted. The mother was apparently looking for a baby gift and was offered assistance to help look for it. Not once was I asked if I needed help, if I was looking for anything special . . . not even a smile in my direction. At first I shrugged it off and chalked it up to perhaps the saleswoman not having a good day. But she acknowledged my husband and the other mother who walked in behind us. After we left, my husband even asked whether I was helped and he too noticed that I was being completely ignored. When I walked in, I had every intention of purchasing some clothing or a new toy or two for my son, but I refuse to give my business to places where I'm not appreciated as a customer. Local businesses survive solely because of their customer service. What a shame that this is how the salespeople at Lollipop treat (at least some of) their customers. Apparently they pick and choose who they would like to offer help to and I clearly didn't make the cut. Bottom line: I do not plan to ever return and would not recommend Lollipop to any other of my South Bay mom friends. read more

For their collection I will rate them 4 stars, but the shopping experice got them 2. Like other review about the service, I didn't feel welcomed at the store which is weird considering it is a little pricy boutique where sells children clothing. I normally wouldn't buy things from a store with bad service but my son got his spare clothing wet at the beach so I had no choice. The older white lady ( owner maybe?) tried to appear elegant but ended up arrogant. I really dislike places that close way before the advertised closing time. This place says they close at 4 and EVERY time I tried coming (total of 3x), not even close to 4, they were closed. These two stars are primarily for the service I received today. I walked by this place a week ago when it was closed, and was excited to go in a shop for my son and nieces. When I went in with my mother and son, the older woman at the register looked up and then at my child, then looked away annoyed. We were not greeted even though we smiled when we walked in to acknowledge her. I have worked at a retail store so I know the do's and don't's of a sales associate - although it seems like common sense to greet somebody walking into your store, right? They reminded me of most children's boutiques - Melissa and Doug products, Bla Bla dolls, and classic children books. They had really cute clothes as well. But at the end of the day, who wants to give money to a company who makes you feel completely unwelcome? Not me. It's a shame because they had really cute products, but sadly I have zero desire to go in or recommend it to anyone in the South Bay. After reading other reviews on here, however I don't think anyone is getting the hint. read more

Having lived in the South Bay my whole life I'm am so please that this charm of a boutique is here in the Village. They have one of a kind clothes. Absolutely adorable and beautiful for every age. Having two nephews and a neice this is my go to for every occasion. All I have to do is call Veronica when Im out of town or find myself busy and she will take pictures of what I'm looking for in the right sizes and gift wraps them for me. The only thing I need to do is pick up which is always a pleasure since everything in there is so adorable!!!! This boutique is perfect if your looking for one of a kind clothes! A must in my book!
