My second favorite kids consignment store in LA. This one is the best if you've got to trek down from north LA because the other one is in Torrance. Great clothing finds for when you get sick of the same Gap, Carters, Old Navy stuff. Great place to try out the various sleep sacks or overpriced baby stuff at discounted prices in order to find the one that works for your babe. Books, toys, clothes are oftentimes just under what the price would be if you bought new. I really don't understand all the negative reviews on here. My experience is for both a seller and a buyer. I went in with a bunch my my children's clothes with both kiddos on tow. I was promptly greated and they took my clothes right away to sort through. The owner was very nice and told me that we could either look around, or that the kids could play with the toys around the corner while we waited. I decided to look around since they were going to give store credit for the clothes. They had a huge selection of clothes, toys, shoes, jackets and even baby gear/strollers/bouncers. When she was done looking through my things, I was offered a price. She let me look to see what she was keeping and what she was leaving (due to minor stains that I didn't see at home). I thought the price she offered me was fair so I accepted. I bought some really cute dresses for my daughter that look brand new that I can't wait for her to wear, a fun push car for my son and I still have over $100 credit left for next time I come in! Hate to say this but I wish I could give this place zero stars. I actually sell a lot on Mercari and purchase items from Mercari. I came to check out this place becuase my mom has been bugging me to check it out to trade clothes for my newborn daughter. From the moment before even walking in people were extremely rude. On the entrance from the front there's a small gate with a lock.There was a young woman at the entrance fixing clothes and I kindly asked her if I am supposed to go from the entrance from the front or back because I had never been there before. Condescendingly she said "either one". I'm already in the front so I'm not sure why she couldn't just say this way is fine? But wtv i try to check out the place before I go ask about the trade off for baby clothes. Honestly I could sell a lot of clothes for better pricer and have seen better prices from other sellers from Mercari minus the bad attitude keeping the brands on mind. Also at the Qbargain stores you can get the stuff for the kids snow gloves at a better price same quality and better prices BRAND NEW. I finally go ask about the trade off my mom had mention. I let a older blonde lady with short hair and glasses know "my mom said there's was a trade off for old clothes I have of my baby". This lady had the audacity to say as if I'm at target "we don't accept old clothes only clothes in EXCELLENT condition" looking at me down and up. I'm Mexican and brown so I honestly felt this lady thought I'm bringing clothes from goodwill I bought for my baby. And that I needed and appointment for that. Yea right, all my babies clothes is brand new from target/kolhls or the mall like the children's place. I made sure I let her know my babies clothes was new she outgrew them that's why I said my daughters old clothes. Talk about feeling racist vibes from the whole store and especially the old hag. At this point I rather donate my daughters close to my nearest shelter or church or sell it on Mercari. The newborn section isn't huge Very friendly clerk who found what we were looking for in the back room. Prices are very fair and way better than buying something full price at the store. It's hard to maneuver around the store with a stroller because of all the clothing racks being so close together. Parking is limited in the back of the store and the spaces are angled strangely. Never buying or selling from this place ever again . The worse experience i have ever encountered. I had booked my appointment to sell cloths two weeks prior. I had previously booked the appointment a few months before and the experience was great. This time, the owner absolutely blew it . I arrive with my bag of CLEAN cloths, the first comment the owner makes "is the cloths clean" - I then answered YES. ALL THE CLOTHS IN THIS BAG IS CLEAN. Her follow up question is " do you have anything better than GAP" - I chuckled, answered her " of course; this clean bag of cloths is all Nordstrom cloths " so yes better than GAP. She then says " I've been swamped with so much stuff, I don't have the time to look through the bag nor am I interested in purchasing any infant cloths" . Not to mention, I drove all the way from Long Beach, and no where in the website or appointment reminder said she wasn't interested in purchasing infant cloths . This was such a waste of time . Lastly, she approached my 2 year old daughter asking if she was going to clean up the mess she made which was a few toys she was playing with. Overall, NEVER EVER AGAIN . I will NOT recommend this place to ANYONE . You don't treat your customers like this . I should have checked that this place has very bad reviews, the people who work at this store has zero, zero respect for people and people's time specially because most of the costumers are busy moms. I always bought everything new for my children (I have an 8yo, 2yo boys and 10 month old girl) and I always donates their clothes but my 2yo boy wears size 4 and my 10months old is wearing size 2-3T so they didn't wear most of they any clothes and everything looks so gorgeous, I have now three kids so I thought about trying a resale store, this one is 25mins away from my house so I called before. The lady who answered said that they don't do appointments but I could come at anytime, 2pm is always a great time and that she will be happy to see my things for an exchange. I go there, the place is so dark, not a pleasant shopping experience and the same lady says: I have too many baby clothes (I told her I was bringing baby clothes and some toys) and you have 3 people ahead of you. So rude, 50 minutes of my busy time (I have 3 kids and a company) in the garbage. So so horrible and rude. I'm all for going green, repurposing, reusing and recycling when I can. That is why I love the concept and when it comes to children's clothing and accessories, it's perfect. They buy/sell an assortment of baby items including clothing, strollers, cribs, accessories, toys, dance wear, shoes, carriers, bedding, jumpers, etc. it's really hit or miss what they will buy though. It's a real bummer when you take the time to sort the good stuff to sell to them and they only buy a few items for a very minimal amount. But in the end, if you're taking it to sell that means you don't need/use it anymore so why not?! Parking is challenging. You can park on the curb but Sepulveda moves very fast. They have a very small lot in back but it's usually full. Service is just average. read more

I came to this location to sell used toys. I arrived early in the am with 2 trader joe canvas size bags filled with baby toys. They have a seperate room from the actual store to conduct selling business and a sign in sheet. I waited a little under 10 min to be assisted since there was another customer ahead of me. Once called, they took my bags and began to individually look at the toys. That process took about 10 to 15 min. In the mean time, I browsed in the store. Nothing in particular caught my eye to take home. Out of the 2 bags full of toys they only kept about 4 toys (everything previously purchased from target and in great, barely used condition a wooden truck set $17, elmo with three hats:$15, never used only took it out the box and stored it, smh, a mini piano $12, a telephone on wheels $9.99. About $54 value) Their cash value of those items equaled $16 and some change or store credit around $20 something. So less than half of the value of what I paid for the items. Considering they are used items pay out was ok, but I was expexting more. Guess you have to keep in mind they would need to make a profit off these items. Next time I'd rather just donate the items to friends or sell them online at the price I feel they are worth. Everyone was friendly and informative in the store. Store was clean, organized and items clearly priced and labled accoring to gender and age/size. Tip: Make sure you have all pieces to items that you would like to sell. They will not accept them at all. I had a few other toys that were in great condition, but I didn't bother to go deep sea diving to find the other pieces lol read more

The woman asked me to sign in, place my bags at the entrance of the store. I didn't think anything wrong at the time. Typically consignment stores will ask you to do that however once they call your name they are suppose go through the clothes with you and give you the price they are willing to pay for each item and then you can decide if you agree . She didn't do that. When she called my name she had already sorted all my stuff into one of her bins along with other stuff that was already there. Came here to check out some outdoor toys and items for my kids. The store is a little overpacked with items but they have done a good job of separating by age, gender and even seasonal items. I wasn't looking for clothes but seemed they had a large selection and everything was in decent shape. The selection of toys was more limited. The prices were not as big of a deal as I was expecting. Also the procedure for selling (consigning) your items was a bit complicated. They don't take all items and if they do you get 30-50% of what they sell the item for and the price they list the item depends on what it costs retail and how many similar items they have in store at that time. I might check this store out ever now and again but I doubt I'll be a regular customer. Perhaps if I was looking at the clothes, I would feel differently. Whenever, I go in to sale- I feel more like I am being interrogated for a murder...."when was the last time this was used?" " where were you the night it was used?" "can someone testify to your wherabouts the last time it was used?" Conversely, I had accumulated a full stamp card to get 20% off my next purchase, along with almost $80 in credit. I happily marched in the Torrance location today and found a double Maclaren which was perfect for my twins! The lady at the front desk informed me I could not use the stamp card on strollers, only on resale clothing (really?? aren't strollers resale items too?) Then she looked at my credits and said I could not use at the torrance location because they were MB. I promptly left and called the MB location and the owner told me that although I could use my store credit there- I couldn't use it on "consignment items," which includes strollers. Isn't everything there a consignment item??!! I told her that I wish they would have told me that when I was given the option to decide between cash and store credit. Nowhere on the card does it mention certain items are excluded. Looking at their reviews, it appears I am not the only one that has experienced the rude and subpar customer service (or lack thereof). I usually go to the one in Torrance, but I decided to go to this one being that its closer to my house. When I 1st arrived I was told that they would need the whole hour to go thru my bags, & I had no problem seeing that I did have several bags. 1st-the selection of clothes was ehh to say the least. I never seen a store sell very worn out clothes or as they call it "play wear" idk about yall but when clothes get to that point its time for them to go #IJS 2nd- Mind you Im pregnant & there was no where to sit, it was hot & I was miserable, But I didnt complain. I just continued to look thru their clothes. & I was able to find a few pcs for my newborn. 3rd- Im not going to lie the mother or "owner" mad me feel very uncomfortable when I asked for help. & darn near forgot about me several times. Last, but not least when they finally finished going thru my clothes, they gave me the option of $99 cash or $149 store credit, which was fine by me. The clothes were not too worn, & clean. I felt as if she was kind of pushing me to get the store credit, but they didnt have enough items that made me feel I could have spent that amount there, so I opted for the cash. But I had to totally LOL when I saw the worker leave the store with her kids, holding a pair of the pajamas that I had just sold them. lol I guess they get 1st dibs at all the goodies that come in =D So all in all I will be taking the 405 to go to my normal Childrens Orchard. So many clothes, accessories, shoes, mobiles, high chairs, etc...!! Everything is recycled, but is in EXCELLENT shape. I even saw some items with price tags still attached!! If you sell items here be sure to look at what they take and how much they are offering before accepting their payment. I brought a large box of clothes, shoes & accessories today. Baby Gap, Petit Bateau, Keens, Michael Kors, Janie & Jack, Flowers by Zoe, Ralp Lauren, high end outfits from Neiman Marcus and lots of hats, hair accessories and other accessories. I was offered $25 and took it as the box still seemed to be full so I figured they had only taken a few items. When I returned home I realized that they had taken most of what I brought and only the larger sized clothing was left and at least 75 items were kept. That means I was only payed $0.33 per item. I am EXTREMELY upset, mostly at myself for trusting this store and relying on common decency and integrity of people. I feel like I was robbed by taking my items there and trusting them to be honest and fair. I should have been more mindful of the bad reviews and NOT brought my items to resell at this store. I would rather have donated these items and felt good about them going to those in need instead of feeling violated and like I wasted several hours of my life for this unscrupulous business to profit. read more

I love getting my kids clothes and shoes here. I've also found some scores on gear. They have plenty of deals and events especially for their VIP (easy sign up by cell # and decent program incentives). I like shopping here because, besides the fantastic selection and quality of the used shoes and clothes, the store is neat, organized and staff is friendly. I've been going to Children's Orchard to both shop and sell for several years now. Yes, what they offer you for your used baby and kid stuff is pretty measly. I mean, it's low enough to ALMOST be insulting, but not quite. That being said, no one is forcing your to take the money. If you really don't like what they're offering you, then just take your stuff and go! The reason I keep bringing my old stuff back there is because they have convenient and consistent walk-in buying hours, and because otherwise, that unused stuff would just clutter up my home. Their merchandise is hit-or-miss. Like any secondhand store, the key is having plenty of time to dig through all the crap in order to find the good stuff. I have found plenty of great deals on cute clothes here - brand-name items by Diesel, Lucky, and the like. Unfortunately, there is also a lot of sub-par stuff on display, too - clothing with stains, grubby, frayed diaper bags, tattered books, filthy shoes. Even so, I've never gone to Children's Orchard without making a purchase, so there's just enough here to keep my business. At the end of the day, Children's Orchard is pretty good as far as kids consignment stores go. As long as you remember that that's what it is and don't go in there expecting a department store/shopping mall experience, you won't be entirely disappointed. read more
