O'D who has run the school the last 17 years will go down in history as one of the biggest influencers of children in the history of Tustin if he hasn't already. Because I graduated from the school and have become a success (business and family-and I'm not in jail lol) I speak and volunteer at the school once or twice a year and have for the last decade. I get to see behind the scenes, how much effort and energy these amazing teachers put in day after day to a lot of these troubled kids. And most of them graduate, it's pretty astounding. I went to this great school in 06/07(when it was behind Foothill HS) and enjoyed every minute of it…read morewhile Principal Hernandez was in charge.Principal O'Donahue took over in late 07 and ruined the school.He got rid of the good hot food we had and our Carl's Jr. chicken sandwiches.The new food options normally consisted of FROZEN chicken and old hamburgers leftovers from Foothill and the neighboring middle school.He not only was a very stubborn Principal,but he kicked me out for self defense and then when he found out I was 19 he threatened to get the Sheriffs involved since I was an adult.I told him about how I threw no punches due to the fact I was an adult(I knew the consequences) and the other kid not only hit me multiple times,but knocked out the security guard who tried to break up the fight.He knocked her out with one punch.The other guy got a suspension and I got kicked out.OD is a horrible Principle compared to Mr. Hernandez and ruined Hillview HS.I think OD used the fight as an opportunity to remove me from the school because I protested to that clown every chance I got about the bad food and poor quality in which it was served to the students. I also suspect that OD was behind the moving of the school to the new site at the Tustin Airbase.So not only did my favorite HS get demolished,but it was removed from a lovely hilly area with plenty of nice trees and scenery.Now it sits next to a bunch of homeless shelters and in the shadow of the hangers on the airbase.What better way to remind the students that we live in a Police State then to stare at those remnants of the military industrial complex everyday.OD is a puppet for the TUSD and Hernandez fought for students rights! EDIT I give the old Hillview 5 stars on Foothill BLVD...The new school on Landsdowne RD(should have its name changed to Hangerview) would receive one star!

I started off at the Edgewood campus, and…read moreboth I and my parents were very happy with Fairmont, so I went on to attend high school at the Prep Academy. I graduated this year, and I am now on my way to Stanford University on scholarship. While I understand that the successes of children rely partially on individual talents, I know I would never have gotten to where I am now without the help of Fairmont. Edgewood helped me to use the talents I have, and has taught me so much more. The support system is phenomenal; Edgewood feels like a big family. The teachers care so much about their students and are extremely dedicated to their jobs, the administration is cooperative and willing to talk if there are problems, and the school itself, while small, still has all the facilities students need. I think it is the small size of the school that contributes to its excellence, in fact. The average class size I experienced throughout my stay at Edgewood was about 20 students or so. Academic assistance was extremely accessible, and teachers were qualified. I loved my time at Fairmont. Former students will say that it was too small, or too strict, or that the uniforms sucked, or that we got too much homework, but those are the complaints of children who are still unaware of how the things they complain about were actually extremely beneficial to their development. Edgewood isn't just an academic haven, though it is known for its constant domination at academic pentathlon. The campus also provides physical education, music, art, computer, and foreign language classes as part of the curriculum, as well as study skills for the students who need it. Some of my fondest memories included being part of the class musicals we did every year, and taking voice lessons with the music teacher outside of school. That's another plus about Edgewood; if a child wants further instruction in art or music, or extra tutoring, teachers will provide these services outside of normal class time at a reasonable rate. However, for children who need help in a certain subject, teachers designate certain hours of their time before and after school as well as during lunches at times, as open to academic assistance. This means children can come visit them and receive the help they need, free of charge. Edgewood also provides after- school classes in chess, soccer, and other activities. Available sports at Edgewood are volleyball (girls), football (boys), basketball (boys and girls), and soccer (boys and girls). Most of these are split into two teams: DSL (for 5th and 6th grade) or junior high (6th, 7th, and 8th). Practices take place during PE and/or after school, and kids are never kept away from their homework too late. During sports seasons or the week of a school production sometimes students will miss class, but teachers are very understanding and will work with these students. I played each of these sports (except football) at one point, and I had little to no trouble keeping up with school. Students can also participate in school ASB either as class representatives or by running for office. Supervised school dances are planned, a ski trip is planned annually, and from grades 4 to 8, a class trip is organized. I remember going to Sacramento, Catalina Island, Astrocamp, San Francisco, and Washington DC, and having a fantastic time on each trip. Really, Edgewood is as good as it gets. I grew up and learned life skills at Fairmont, and so have my brother and sister. We are a Fairmont family, and we are very happy with what we have been provided with. I know it's hard to spend money on school when the public school system is free and often a good option, but I have to say that although there is nothing wrong with attending public school, my family will never regret sending us kids to Edgewood. It was worth it.

My son was more than 30 minutes late due to multiple reasons and she would not excuse it. This was his first tardy! She said it would be marked as an inexcusable absence. Wow! Zero kindness or empathy for daily living. This was his first tardy of the year! She was so rude. As our son, and many of his classmates, fell further and further behind in their online classes, we repeatedly reached out to the school administration, including the principal, as did the parents of our son's school friends. However, the school's administration was uniformly unresponsive to our concerns. So, we decided to take our son out of the public school system, and place him in a private school. Our son transferred to Pacific Academy during his junior year of high school. I really can't say enough good things about our experience at Pacific Academy over the past almost two years. Everyone from the principal to the teachers and administrative staff have all been amazing. They are all very passionate about their mission to educate their students, as well as to help their students grow and develop into well-rounded young men and women. The small class sizes allow for a very personalized approach to teaching, and both the teachers and the principal are very interactive and collaborative with parents. The quality of teaching in all of our son's classes has been exceptional, and all of his teachers have welcomed engagement with us. (Unlike at the public high school our son previously attended.) I would especially like to recognize the principal at Pacific Academy, Keith Corpus, and the Director of Student Affairs, Jasmine Hsu. Their dedication, compassion, and empathy towards their students, and their families, has been extraordinary. They have both also been tremendously supportive as students, parents, and teachers have all worked together to manage the enormous (and ever-changing) impact of the pandemic. Honestly, we have come to view Mr. Corpus and Ms. Hsu as if they were part of our family, and we are so grateful to them for their dedication and commitment to their students, including our son. My only regret is that we did not transfer our son to Pacific Academy sooner. We love this school, and its faculty and staff, and we are so grateful that our son has been able to attend Pacific Academy!
