    A peck of peaches
    Shawn V.

What a great gem. We were visiting family and they had heard of this place so we decided to take a drive. The hour drive was wonderful and scenic. When we arrived, it was lunch time so we stopped in the restaurant and got toasted ham and cheese and turkey and cheese sandwiches which were simple but perfect. We also tried the peach cider doughnuts which were really good. After lunch we got our bag so we could pick a peck of peaches and three baskets for picking blueberries. The blackberries had been picked out the previous day but from the looks of all the blackberry bushes, they would be full again in a matter of days. We started with the peaches. Talk about nice size and nicely colored peaches that smelled amazing! We quickly filled our bag with peaches and then went across the road to the blueberry fields. The blueberries were abundant both in number ready to be picked and in their huge size! Of course I had to try a few and they were very good. We quickly filled 3 overflowing baskets of blueberries. After putting our peaches and blueberries in the car, we went into the store and sampled a bunch of salsas, bbq sauce and jams. We could have bought many different jars but ultimately settled on Hot Summer Salsa and 'Moonshine BBQ' and a peach pie and apple pie. The salsa was really good - flavor and heat were perfect, which says a lot since we are from Texas. The peach and apple pies were also very tasty. The staff were also very friendly no matter what area we were in - they understand customer service very well. When we come back we will definitely visit again. We came too late for picking strawberries (season done) and a few days too late and a few too early for blackberries - which means we will need to return for them next year. Love this place! The prices are equal to or better than those at Costco and the fruit is obviously much more fresh and larger!

This place was recommended by a coworker. We wanted to try some place different from Carter Mountain. Here is what I liked: -it's smaller than Carter mountain, not overwhelming -they have lots of seating options -rules are very straightforward, pay for a bag and fill it up -in my opinion, this place is more picturesque than Carter mountain -we weren't required to by tickets in advance on a Friday afternoon -lots of parking and it was easy to locate the areas -you don't have to climb gigantic hills to get to the apples. I feel like this place is way more accessible than CM. Here is what I did not like: -the cashier overcharged me. -they weren't as welcoming Would love to go back. I would much rather go here than Carter Mountain! It's worth the drive!

I went here over the weekend with some friends. We were going to check out the small sunflower patch across the street, & as we were walking over we were very rudely stopped & reminded "this is a business not a park" so it' costs $5 just to look at the sunflowers up close & for 1 sunflower if you wanted it. Then it'd be at least $12 for up to a group of 3 & that included one small bag. Starting next weekend they're going to charge admission per person as well. It really seems they've taken the family part out of the business, & the other local orchards they own. It's a nice place to walk around though. After walking around the orchard & picking some apples, we stopped by the market part. We got a Apple cider, & peach slushie. As well as apple cider donuts. The peach one was a bit too tart, but the apple cider one was great. I also added peach & vanilla ice cream in the peach slushee, the soft serve was delicious. The cider donuts seem to be a fan favorite, they were good, but honestly nothing amazing about it in my opinion.

The day I went they weren't too crowded and it was past the peach season so I didn't get to pick any peaches here and the ice cream place was closed so no peach ice cream for me. I did buy a tasty slice of apple pie and the orchard was on the way to our cabin do I didn't go out of my way to come here. I'd stay stop here if you're nearby and don't want to trek to Carter Mountain but otherwise keep going to Carter Mountain instead.

    Orchards with beautiful fall foliage.

Apple cider donuts are a must have in the fall for me. Unfortunately, I was spoiled by the absolute best ones when I was in college so every other apple cider donut disappoints me. I wanted to stop here because of the apple cider donuts when I was here for the day. The donuts are fine but know that they are packaged and at room temperature. They had decent flavor. We also got a cup of hot cider, which was good but not all that hot, and we bought cold packaged ciders for the road, which were very tasty. They were messy to open because you really do get a bang for your buck because the ciders are filled to the brim. We also figured - why not do some apple picking? They have multiple options for the apple picking and we did the smallest one, which at first seemed disappointing due to the size of the bag and the price. We were pleasantly surprised when we wound up with about 20 apples after venturing into the orchard. If you like pink lady apples like I do, you'll be happy you picked them. I would recommend going on the early side. When we got there around 10:30, there were not many people inside or picking apples but when we left, it was starting to get a bit more crowded. I would certainly return next time I am in the area.

Fall fun all around! We had such a great time picking apples. They gave us a bag to fill up with apples, and afterwards we had cider flights and had some apple cider donuts. We sat down outside and enjoyed the view. Such a gorgeous place. We hope to make this a regular spot for every fall activity!

I love Chiles Peach Orchard for those who have never visited - you should know they have Strawberry fields as well (during proper times of year). Also you don't not have to pick Peaches or Strawberries, if you don't want too!! Chiles offers pre-picked fruits if your just craving some fresh fruit. They also offer numerous peach flavored products wine, salsa, and plethora of other things. If you'd like to sample their product - they have a menu of items you can try and I highly recommend the peach sundae.

While in Crozet, this is a great place to stop and see some beautiful Mountain View's while enjoying delicious fruits and snacks! Yes, there are peaches in the summer, but in the fall it's all about the apples and gourds!! The country store is loaded with barrels of apples if you don't want to go pick your own. I was particularly happy that they had Jonathan apples here because some of the other orchards run out of them quick! There's an apple cider donut stand, a home-made fudge counter and others treats! You'll also find baking mixes, syrups, salsas and honey. They have shelves of toys, lawn décor and gifts! Outside there's a picnic area and plenty of parking. Although this orchard doesn't seem to get as much traffic as the other ones nearer to Charlottesville, I think it's more charming and quaint. I love that it's less crowded and easier to navigate! It's become my fav fall day trip!! I'll be back before the season is over and I'll be ready for those peaches in the summer!!
