We had Sausage Egg & Cheese on a Biscuit, City Ham, Egg & Cheese on Texas Toast, a Cinnamon Roll, and Biscuits and Gravy. The City Ham, Egg & Cheese on Texas Toast was the best sandwich! We were sad we didn't get the Sausage, Egg & Cheese on the Texas Toast as well. The Cinnamon Roll was delicious and served warm. We didn't love the Gravy on the Biscuits and Gravy. I ordered a chili cheese dog with onion, and a Chuck wagon sandwich with tater tots. The chili dog was delicious. My tots came out warm, not hot. The Chuck wagon sandwich was tender. The staff were very nice, and answered my questions. The tables there are family style so you might be eating with complete strangers, but that didn't bother me at all. The chef completely understands that chili and slaw for dogs are a completely different recipe than for sides. The chili contained finely ground meat, had the desired vinegar and mustard twang and was properly devoid of beans. The slaw was chopped super-fine and also had enough flavor and crunch to let you know it was a star ingredient. The only thing that would make it better would be to put a bit of steam on the buns before serving. Not too much to make it mushy but enough to warm the bun and soften it just a tad. The hot dogs are good, not real big but worth the price. They have slaw dogs and chilli dogs too. They have a nice selection of breakfast items along with their hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch. This place is low budget all the way. You won't spend a lot eating there and the service is very good. In the 40 minutes we were there on Saturday afternoon, the business kept on coming in. Exceptionally good Philly cheesesteak and burger, don't let the aesthetics for you. We had noted so many favorable reviews, and made it a point to visit here when we were in Ellijay nearby. Yelp said they closed at 3 o'clock, and reality on our particular visit, it was 2 o'clock, so we didn't mean to stroll in 15 minutes before closing, but were greeted warmly, regardless. The area is closed in and a heater was blowing in the corner ,it was very comfortable inside . The prices are great ! A mom with 4 children under the age of five sat next to us ... which tells you it's in a family budget. You order at the window and pickup at the window. It was a fun experience. The seating area is clean and comfortable. The food reminded me of a 1970's diner . The patty was real meat , not a huge portion. The onion rings were fantastic! .. if you are in Ellijay you will have many options! If you are wet from river rafting with children... go go go ! This place is a perfect place for that ! Read about this little "dive" and decided to check it out. It is really not a dive, sure it's not an upscale millennial magnet, it is a hot dog stand that offers seating. When I walked in, it was around lunch time and I wasn't sure I would get a seat, but I did manage to get one. The crowd was a mix of construction workers, business casuals, and a cute older couple who seemed to know everyone. They had the heater going, so it was comfortable. I knew I was in for a treat when I ordered my chili dog with sauerkraut, and they asked if I wanted the kraut grilled. Well, yes I would like that grilled. I sat close to the older couple and was soon engaged in conversation, they didn't know me and I am not from the area, but that didn't matter. A short time later my order was up. The dogs are not the thin bun sized type that seem to be so popular. No, these were good old fashioned, thick and juicy dogs, that didn't taste smoky or too salty. The chili was delicious and the grilled kraut was excellent, and quite filling. This place is easy on the wallet, service was friendly, and the inside was clean with no frills. They were so freakin good, we went and ordered 2 more. Not only did the food taste good, the owner (pretty sure she said her & her husband owned it) was so friendly!! So refreshing to talk to such kind & polite people here. They were also dog friendly which our pup appreciated :) It was also extremely affordable. I recommend getting two chili dogs (with mustard, ketchup & onions), fries and a Coke. Oh yeah Chili Dog has great chili dogs ! The chili has a great taste and the dogs are not overly salty like some places. You can always add a bit of hot sauce to taste and the buns are always super fresh. I also like their Philly cheese steak, quality slices of beef with no gristle.
