The only good part of this place is the breakfast drive thru. It is good and the service is very good... that being said the menu choices on the board daily have gone way downhill. It is not worth the money I could get better food options from chain restaurants sadly. The burger that has been hyped up is not even as good as Wendys and the service there is pretty rough. Not far from the interstate so I made the detour to try this place out. It was a mid-January Saturday morning and the place was packed, so I sat at the small bar since I was dining alone. It wasn't a long wait and the friendly staff took my order and asked all the right questions on how I wanted my eggs cooked. I had the "special" from the blackboard which was two eggs cooked to order, sausage patties, and a biscuit with sausage gravy. All those items were good quality, properly cooked, and tasted good. I had a 9 hour drive ahead of me this morning and decided to try this place at the start of my trip. I was incredibly disappointed with one of the two biscuits that my boyfriend and i ordered for breakfast. I obviously cannot be sure how/if this was missed when the food was being prepared but i couldn't believe that a whole clump of gray hair made it into the biscuit! We were already back on the road and a ways away by the time we noticed and unfortunately couldn't go back to show them and get a refund but I hope this establishment can reach out and make things right. The prices were extremely affordable despite the current state of things and their google rating was great so I was expecting much better care being taken when preparing the food since many other patrons spoke of good experiences. Great down home Southern cooking. They have a full menu and and array of three daily specials and it is recommended you get there early because this place gets very busy and the specials sell out fast!!! No matter how busy they are, they never fail to deliver on great table service either. Call in, walk in, dine in, or drive thru. Nothing fancy just plain good. read more

Fries were basic crinkle Staff was mixed one was very nice, 2 made me feel very out of place... like I was annoying them. I've visited Big John's Treat Shoppe several times and each visit has been consistently enjoyable. The staff are always friendly, even during busy times when there's never been a long wait. I've also used the drive-thru to order a cheeseburger, and the service was quick. Their prices are fair, portions generous, and the food consistently tastes great. My favorite thing about this restaurant are the employees. They are always so kind and helpful. The food isn't a 5 star restaurant, but it definitely holds title for one of the best southern home cooking places in Calhoun. It's a good place to stop at and always recognize the food will be good. Went here to pick up pancakes for the kids. The person who took the order was polite and helpful. I like how they had drive-through pick-up orders. We only order kids' pancakes and side bacon. Pancakes were nothing special. Bacon was cold and just too thin. read more

You wouldn't expect this place to be so good given its location, but that's wrong. It is really good. The ingredients seem to be fresh, and the service is great. Excellent service. So far everything I've had here is good. Burgers are some of the best in the area, slaw dog is good, slaw could be a little creamier. Friendly service. They do close a little earlier but a great little local place. Very reasonably priced and they have daily specials. One of the few places you still get a meat and veggies without it being an all you can eat buffet trough. read more
