    Smokehouse combo
    Brenda M.

I honestly had not come in to Chili's because of the reviews. I'm glad I finally made it in. We came in on a Sunday afternoon. The place is pretty big lots of boths tables and a decent size bar area.We were sat immediately and within a few minutes the waiter came to take our drink order. When the drinks were brought to our table, he took out an appetizer order we had the trio. It comes with lots of chips, super mild salsa, amazing guacamole, and great queso. A few moments later, he took our order , and we split the ultimate smokehouse combo. The ribs were good, the honey Chipotle tenders were delicious, the sauce had a really good flavor, and the jalapeño cheddar sausage was ok. The fries were hot and crispy. The corn was really, really good. The garlic bread was basic. It's what you expect from any American casual dining restaurant.

My order is wrong! Mushroom Swiss burger and they forgot the mushrooms! I ordered no seasoning salt in the fries and they are Covered.

The order is completely wrong. Paid for something I am not getting. Missing ingredients and added some I requested off.

The triple dipper may be the best thing invented. The service is always very good, and I love the whole entire vibe!!

They're rated really high -- actually one of the highest-rated restaurants in Fort Collins -- and from a food perspective I don't really understand why. Sliders with sweet potato fries -- fine, nothing extraordinary. Potato éclairs -- . It was really just mashed potatoes with some topping on it. I honestly didn't even finish it. Mountain oysters -- huge letdown. They came out so overcooked they were basically crunchier than potato chips, with the batter crumbling off. I've never had them before, so I didn't get a good representation of how they're supposed to be -- these were just super-cooked batter. On the space: we ended up sitting in three different spots to eat. We went outside by the street first -- super loud, and people were smoking, so we headed back in. The open spot inside was right under the AC and about forty degrees, so we moved to the back area. The back was fine -- covered -- but pretty dirty, with mop buckets and clutter sitting around. The one drink I had was a good value since we were there at happy hour -- some kind of fruity whiskey drink. It was fine, but nothing I'd seek out again. I hate to give such a friendly place a bad review. It'd be a really great spot if you're a college student who wants some cheap bites and a drink -- but honestly it's just bar food, and the ceiling is probably a 4 on a really good day. I wouldn't get excited to head down there, and parking is a bit of a hassle too. Would recommend only if you're after very cheap eats in that area -- check them out for happy hour. But I would not return.

Fresh, quality ingredients, nothing too fancy, just incredible cooking technique for a reasonable "nice dinner" price. The ambiance is small and humble, but still feels like a nice night out. The Lamb Merguez Meatballs were the standout. Spiced, saucy, topped with something cool and creamy, blew my tastebuds away. The Halibut Ceviche was very good and big enough to share with the table. The Regional Salad held its own as a side. Beer, wine, and full bar are all well stocked, and the bar itself was packed with what looked like regulars catching up. Service was friendly from the door to the table. No complaints there. Heads up on the noise. For the first 15 minutes we couldn't hear the couple sitting across from us. Once the party behind us cleared out, it dropped to a normal restaurant volume, but if you're picky about hearing your dinner conversation, ask for a table away from the bar side. Not cheap, but it never claimed to be. You're paying for local sourcing and a place people actually want to hang out at. Go for the meatballs and the ceviche. Come early or sit on the patio if you want to talk. Come hungry and thirsty if you just want to be in the mix.

We started with a beer for my husband and a mocktail for me. The mocktail (blueberry lemonade) was simply not worth the $7 price tag. Mostly ice - filled to the literal rim of the glass. So full when I took one of my first sips, ice fell to the floor. There was just a splash of ginger beer; it could've used more but, alas, no room with all that ice! When I mentioned it to the server, she explained that's how they make them. She offered to bring me another, but it seemed clear she meant I'd be paying for it. No thank you. Next, my food. I tried the salmon burger (new to the menu, I'm told) which is actually a salmon croquette on a bun with some lettuce and vinaigrette. It's HUGE and not in a good way. The first few bites were okay, and I thought the heavily breaded effect was due to biting into the edge. As I continued eating, though, most bites felt like a mouthful of bread. I can only hope there was minced salmon in it, but the ratio was so heavy on breadcrumbs that I couldn't detect it. Not the slightest hint of pink on the inside either. I ate about 1/2, my hungry hub finished it. The flaws of the salmon burger didn't seem worth pointing out to the server after the response I got with the drink. Later, as we walked around downtown, I felt like I had a lead sandwich in my stomach. My husband had a better experience than I. His bison burger came out great. No complaints. Unfortunately for me, I think I'll just have to order very specific things when coming here now. Austin's has sentimental value for me - it's the first place we dined after moving here 27 years ago. Because of that, I keep giving them second chances after they fall short. I just wish they'd return to the days of "you can't go wrong", everything is awesome.

Saturday evening 7:30 found us in a Moot House booth. For a start we ordered the beet salad. Menu says roasted beets but we think these tasted boiled or steamed. That said, they were perfectly cooked, adorning a mixed green salad. I probably would call this a mixed green salad with beets, rather than a beet salad. Greens made up 80% of it. Still a decent salad. For mains, I ordered their Fish and Chips (2 and 3-piece available) and she ordered the Parmesan Sea Bass. The fish and chips were great, crisp, not greasy, and the shoestring fries were fantastic. Sea bass was tasty, Parmesan crusted and pan seared with charred lemon and capers on it. Yum! In prior visits we've had their wedge salad, Brussels sprouts, Reuben, Caesar salad and a few other items. Some better than others (loved the Brussels!) but all were above average for the price. I have a feeling that this is a place where people go for drinks as most of the tables around us had cocktails but I can't speak to those. We did notice several mocktails on the menu which is always great! Wheelchair accessibility: there is some lot and street parking with accessible spaces close by. The front door is heavy and so you'll probably need somebody to help you open it, and the spaces between the tables can be a little tight although there is both seating on the patio and inside that would be accessible for wheelchair users. The bathroom door isn't too heavy and there is a large accessible stall.
