We bought some fabulous North Irish Brie style cheese, magnificent local gin and a dozen rhubarb & honey cider at the festival. There were a number of talks through the day as part of the festival and the one that we attended had a cheese-maker (blessed are the cheese-makers) a cider maker (who says he is still trying to perfect apple brandy) and a chef from the Yellow door. We made a point of making the 25 mile journey to try the food in this place today. It's unremarkably located down a nondescript side street. All three of us chose the prawn on wheaten bread and it tasted superb. We were all delighted with our food. I opted for the soup & sandwich and opted for celeriac & parsnip and it was really superb too. Service was also very good but the young chap forgot to bring me a knife & fork. When I went to pay the bill I decided to try some of the takeaway food - I opted for sausage rolls and chocolate eclairs. The sausage rolls and eclairs became supper tonight. They tasted quite good, and were a decent portion size but I'd have preferred had they been better seasoned. The eclairs tasted rotten - really shockingly bad compared to everything else. I'm leaving my review at five star as everything else was so very good but I can't figure how a place that's so good with a great chef can produce something so bad.

Out of soup and some breads at 145, no contact with any waitstaff for over 15 minutes and ignored once food arrived, not even receiving our check. I just about hit the deadline but others in the queue after me were also allowed the deal. Pretty decent of Greggs and the young servers are ace friendly. In contrast I was in a local Spar (Monaghan St Newry) recently which has a similar deal ending at 11:30am but I was denied the deal as it was a minute past the time, but facts didn't seem to matter, particularly that the server was inside a kitchen area, that the food I wanted was still in on the hot plate and I was waiting for service at 11:30. I politely left empty-handed and won't bother returning. There's a Greggs 5 minutes away from here. Anyway back to Greggs. I wanted a croissant with my cappuccino but they were all gone so I had to choose something else and ended up with a sausage roll. My first Greggs sausage roll. A meat one not the vegetarian option and it was £2.55 in total. The cappuccino is machine dispensed so it's borderline 3 star. The sausage roll had flaky water based pastry l, it was hot and full of the sort of rubbish I mostly avoid and it tasted as cheap meat and anything with 22 grams of fat - 13 grams of which are saturated - does. Hopefully next time they'll have croissants next time.

Well for me it's a friendly welcome and here it was ace happy cheerful staff. The other requirement is cleanliness as I've been in quite a few filthy Starbucks places in NI where clearing and cleaning tables is very far from a priority. Here again it was clean and tidy store. A flat white is now £3; I think a year back it was £2.6. I suspect it'll be at least £3.3 by Christmas. This Starbucks is within the Rushmere shopping centre which itself is in administration. Rushmere has lost a few key anchor businesses like Debenhams and Topshop and other stores but Primark has announced it will open there that will increase footfall. There's a relatively newly arrived chicken shack Nando's and a new Asian Eatao. They are both on the site where five guys was but I'm afraid their food was overpriced and grimly underwhelming so they didn't last - rip off merchants rarely survive here.
