I often frequent this Starbucks on a weekly basis. Staff are very friendly. However I would avoid going here at peak times (i.e. lunchtimes) as you'll be standing in a que that is just about to go out the door, then only to find that you can't find a seat.
While the place is often busy, I feel that this place lacks atmosphere and ambiance. The lights are a bit dim and furniture is basic. At least in Costa there are far more comfortable leather chairs, far more life in it and it isn't as crowded.
Which brings me to my frustration as I look around and see hipsters sitting in front of their MacBooks and people acting like Starbucks is their office. At least buy a coffee every hour you're there at least! That being said, the noise level is pretty average unless there is small children about screaming.
I love Starbucks' "Chai Tea Lattes" and coffee frappuccinos. However at least half of a frappuccino is at least ice and comes to annoyance when you finish half of the drink. I do find their that their coffee can be bitter sometimes - but generally ok. I think it depends on who makes it. However I have had a lukewarm coffee from them far too often.
I like their paninis. However I feel that their paninis, sandwiches, traybakes, etc. are too dear. Near £4.00 for a panini sitting in with an addition of a coffee costing from £2.95 for a Tall (small) upwards. Sometimes it would cost me £7-£8 altogether.
In all, they aren't bad. Friendly, some nice drinks, free WiFi and iTunes vouchers and I often bump into friends here. A bit lacking in ambiance. Nearby Costa definitely has the edge over them - a tad dearer sometimes though. read more
