I had my Chimney swept and cleaned by another company. They told me by cleaning it it would stop the smoke that was entering the house. Not true it began to smoke in side the house immediately. They also inspected the chimney and said the crown was cracked and several bricks were damaged and lose. The company only did inspections not repairs. I contacted Chris from Chimney Cricket and told him my problems. Chris told me to send him pictures. I did and he gave me a quote which I thought was fair and set an appointment. Chris showed up early and immediately began the repairs. He also added a smoke guard in the fire place. All the repairs were done properly and clean. We found our chimney in need of repair while checking on the progress of the roofing crew that was replacing our roof. They did an inspection on the house I was purchasing and said it needed $1400.00 worth of work and did show photos of what needed to be done. The Seller had ordered the inspection. After close of escrow I left THREE messages to please call as I wanted to schedule the work, not one phone call was returned. Chris is the MAN! After nearly being scammed by a hokey company who mailed us a coupon offer I received a referral from our contractor's AC guy. Moving forward I will return to word-of-mouth quality referrals versus being lazy and dialing a coupon company of which I know nothing about. I spoke with Chris a few times and asked if he could do our dryer vent cleaning (garage) and "sniff" the ducts in our condo to see if we were due for a full cleaning or not. Over the phone he had educated me that depending on a consumer's usage it needs cleaning every 1-3 years. We are just over the hill from a beach community so were cooler but still have plenty of warm days where the AC is needed. Chris and his guy came out on a Saturday and cleaned out what little was in our dryer. We had new pipe installed for our dryer venting when we moved in last summer. Our contractor showed us the equivalent of about 20 wool sweaters in our old pipe. Can you say fire hazard??? Our pipe is in the garage and quite long so they lint disperses easily to the outside. As a result, it appears we will not need to clean this as often as I thought. Chris went OVER AND BEYOND the call of duty to insure we were pleased and eliminate potential safety hazards linked to our dryer and venting pipe. As well he explained "what" he was doing and "why" and shared some humorous stories (unless you were the party in question) of vent related situations he's encountered on jobs.
