This is definitely one of my favorites if not the favorite dog park in the Portland area. It's huge! Fenced all around. Places to socialize with other dogs but also enough room to roam around and walk. Make sure to bring your own water, patrons sometimes will fill the water coolers but we bring water with us too. Good dog park, large fenced areas, wood chips keep things from getting too muddy, nice walking path and there's always water bowls (not always filled or having water there but 60% of the time I'd say). There's a lot of traffic through the park so it's handy to bring some water with you if you plan to be there for a length of time. I like walking through the attached park (Pier Park) and crossing the. Ridge to the dog park for some extra steps. But there's parking next to the park if you come in from Columbia Blvd. read more

Plenty of trees, a few picnic tables, and bring your own water I think. 1 exception happened this year. The parked was locked on Thanksgiving. Beautiful views, wide open spaces, and plenty of fresh air make this park welcoming. We went a day after it rained and I wish there was more areas with mulch but hey, mud washes off right? There is a frisbee golf course across the bridge and many people were enjoying the day. We stood on the bridge and watched a train come thru and I had a moment I felt like a kid again. Took our covid pup we adopted last year to Chimney Park for the first time this weekend. We'd been waiting to go to the dog park for a while to make sure our dog was ready. After some pawsitive one-on-one experiences with friends dogs, we felt she was ready to make some new friends at the dog park. We read up on the park and sounded like just the spot to take her and it was! Lots of space, multiple double gated entrances, and trees for shade. She had so much fun we went again the next day. Everyone was super nice too. Some people generously brought extra water for everyone. I didn't notice any abandoned poops. I was really impressed overall. Word of warning, there were lots of dogs of all sizes and play styles. Make sure your dog can hang with others before taking them to the park. One lady brought her hamster sized dog and freaked out when some of the larger dogs came to say hello. She misunderstood their enthusiasm as aggression and rushed to pick up her baby each time. It was clear the dog was neither ready nor prepared for the dog park. But that didn't stop her from yelling at other dog owners to control their dogs, lol! To be clear, there were lots of small dogs having a grand old time with the bigger dogs. Tl;dr: great park, awesome dogs and people, bring extra water for everyone, have fun! read more

As a certified professional dog trainer, I have been to my fair share of dog parks. I must say that this park exceeded my expectations. There are four different points of entry, two of which are double-fenced. There are two large segments of park, divided by a small fence yet still accessible and easy to traverse from one side to another. An abundance of trees and a handful of picnic tables and benches make this an ideal location. Many people take their dogs here exclusively to play fetch, which is somewhat annoying, but the park is so large that you have room to move around them without getting run over. It has its own big parking lot, and features a bridge on the outside to the lovely Pier Park, an ON-LEASH forested park with a few walking trails. As with every dog park, folks micro-manage their dogs here, but to a lesser extent than other places. Be wary of the commercial dog walkers and pet sitters that bring literal bus-loads of dogs; just one person provides inadequate supervision for all of those dogs, and many times I have heard overwhelmed scuffles from some those same dogs across the park. read more

It were high 80s everyday and the park looked like a dry patch of land located right next to what feels like an expressway and I was filled with disappointment. This place is the bee's knees. Fo shizzle. We take our doggies here just about everyday we have off and they love it. In fact, the Husky loves it so much, she starts howling before we even get there because she knows where we're headed. :) It's a pretty big place and fenced well, so just get 'em in the park and let 'em do their thang. Unfortunately, there are a few folks who come here and keep their dogs ON leash. :( whatta bummer. The park is SO big, and there's SO much to smell and a lot of room to run, let 'em go people! I've been to the dog park off 60th and Halsey as well and don't like that place near as much. The few times I've taken my hooligans there, there were dog fights every time (mine were not involved, thankfully, but still, unsettling for those of us who love our doggies like they're our kids) They've recently plumbed a water spout for our hooligans which they really appreciate, we usually take a gallon jug of water and there are a few water dishes strategically placed at different points in the park. Looks like they're also adding ante entrances as well. Which is like a little cage to get your dogs in, and I guess take them off their leashes, and then let them in the park. I don't find that necessary, but I guess some people do. I'm one of those unruly dog owners though who never puts mine on leashes, they're very well behaved, usually come when called and aren't aggro, so, to me, I see these ante entrances as kind of a moot point, but for those leash lovers out there (and there's nothing wrong with that, just don't use 'em in the park - your doggies will thank you), will love that. read more

Having just moved to Portland, I was looking for a great off-leash park near the North Harbor area. We were staying in a hotel until our stuff arrived and our dog Sable needed somewhere to play and get some energy out. I really liked Chimney Park. It's a large park with plenty of room for dogs to run and play. The two times I went, dog owners were very attentive of their dogs and helped ensure the doggy play stayed nice. Most people also picked up after their dogs. I get upset when people don't pick up after their dogs. I like that there is a path you can walk around with your dog. Because the park is so large, it was a great place to work on recalls with my dog and help her learn to "stay close" when asked. I think Sable and I will be back soon! One thing to keep in mind is that this park gets pretty muddy when it rains, which in the winter, is a lot. Wear waterproof boots and bring a towel! read more

I drive past a handful of dog parks to get to Chimney Park, because Chimney Park is the best! There is a huge fenced in area for your dog to roam free. You can relax on one of the benches or walk the circular track in the middle without fear of your dog running into the road after a squirrel or interrupting a game of kick ball. There is an abundance of well maintained grassy space, and a water spigot. There is a even mix of big and small dogs and it is usually well populated on the weekends, so your dog will have every opportunity to smell a variety of butts. The dogs we've bumped into have all been friendly and I have yet to see any aggression take place here. Dog parents seem responsible and mindful of picking up after their pets which my shoes are thankful for. What more could you or your furry BFF ask for? read more

This dog park is great. It's over 5 acres of fenced field and there's tons of grass and trees (unlike the mulch covered dog parks i'm used to.) The parking area is nice and shady so the car stays cool while the dogs run around. My boyfriend and I took our two dogs out there this afternoon and they had a blast. The trees keep most of the park shady and cool while there is still a lot of sunny space as well. I'm all for the shared area dog parks but they just don't work for our pups, they need a bit of a boundary and this is perfect because the bounded area is huge! read more

This is hands down my favorite fenced in dog park in all of Portland. I have been a dog owner for about 15 years and feel most people are respectful and responsible dogs owners who come here. Occasionally you get the people who talk on their cell phones the whole time and then all of the sudden think they are in charge and start dictating what is okay and what is not, but they are few and far between. This park is huge! There is running water! There is tons of space for dogs to run around and if there is dog that maybe you want to get away from or your dog is the one that needs it's own space there is a lot of room for that. A rainy Easter Sunday at Chimney dog park for some out of town visitors. According to my dog lover's guide to the northwest book Chimney was a 5 star off leash dog park. I didn't get to see any others so I don't really know. What I do know is the the park was 20 minutes out of the city so not very practical for an urban carless person. It was about the same size as the smallest dog park in Seattle. When we pulled up we had about 10 minutes where the dog park was completely empty - heaven. Then a couple families came with their kids so we put our dogs on leashes. That was kind of a bummer. I'm sorry that my dog is unpredictable with kids but I'm also sorry that more people don't leave the kids at home. What I do like about the park is the wide open space. Although there are a few trees mostly dogs can just run and run and run. No bushes or benches to distract them from burning off as much energy as possible. read more

Love this park! It's the only dog park in Portland that the owners actually pay attention to their dogs! It's spacious and has lots of grass too. My dog loves playing ball and running here! The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I wish it had a designated small dog area, and I wish the fencing along the street side was higher, because any dog (even tiny ones) can jump that and it's right on a busy road. My dog is still smiling from her great time at Chimney Park! I have been looking for a great fenced in dog park since we moved here and this is the best one yet! I doubt it can get better than this. There were plenty of other dogs and their owners at the park but the fenced in area is large enough that it doesn't feel crowded. There is water and dog bowls in a few spots within the fenced in area. If you bring a ball or dog toy, expect to share it with other pups. Isn't that what a dog park is all about? I did see one dog who was leashed the entire time. I felt badly for him because he obviously wanted to get loose and play with everyone else. If you are at a fenced in dog park, why not let your best friend go off leash? Anyways, bring baggies for poop and keep the park clean. I was happy to see everyone taking responsibility for their dogs. Luckily, I brought food with us for my furry friend because after about 2 hours of running around at this park, she was hungry. Fantastic dog park. At 5.5 acres, its large enough to let your dogs really stretch their legs yet not too big that you lose sight of them if they're on the other side of the park. The park is about as far northwest as you can possibly get in PDX, a little out of the way, but it without a doubt is worth a trip once a week if you don't live in the 5Q. read more

In my attempt to find all fenced dog parks in portland, here is my review. This place is huge! It's kind of got an odd layout like they're trying to create two different areas (small/big dogs?) with a fence running through the middle but there is two openings with no optional fences to separate the two...so everyone seems to just walk around the whole park on the "track" type thing as dogs follow (or maybe we follow them) and play. This park definitely seems more like a walk type thing for person than it is for a dog to play type park. My dog spent most of her time following us/other people and didn't really play too much with other dogs cause there was so many people walking around. This isn't really a bad thing to me but I usually bring her to play and wear her out. Definitely wont deter me from coming back, but the drive is kinda ruff (get it). There is only like one bench...not that I'm feeling lazy or anything, but i guess that's for the purpose for people to watch over their dogs all around the park. I like that this park isn't super muddy like Wallace can be and its dominantly grass (yay grass!). Parking kinda sucks here but everyone seems to make it work. read more

I adopted a lab mix puppy who is very shy/nervous but seems to gain more confidence in the presence of other dogs or even cats. Dog parks have really helped bring his personality out. This park is huge and there's always a great variety of dog breeds for my dog to meet and play with. Most of the owners and dog-walkers there are really friendly and helpful to novice dog-owners. If you come here regularly enough, you will see familiar faces. I haven't seen any aggressive dogs however I have seen a few owners who were too timid to correct their dog when it was playing too rough with my dog. The dogs weren't aggressive/mean but it was clear that they could accidentally cause an injury or fight if not given leadership from their owners. My dog will play with any dog no matter how rough the other dog gets but if your dog's mouth is around my dog's leg or neck, please correct your dog with a firm/assertive voice or I will have to do it for you. I'm a new dog-owner and my puppy is only 8 months old but he has heard my "I'm not messing around voice" enough times to recognize it. I guess that could be said for any dog park though read more
