What a disappointment. Ordered hot & sour soup that was mostly hot (too much red pepper) and not very sour, egg roll which had a weird cinnamon taste that completely took over, and chicken on a stick that was more like a rubbery jerky. We also ordered Imperial chicken that had absolutely no taste and overcooked brocolli and cold sesame noodles that were completely dry with a sprinkling of peanuts on top. Favorite Chinese restaurant! I love their lunch special (from lunch to 4 pm). It's pretty cheap in my opinion for all that comes with your meal and the amount you get. It has the option of a roll or a soup and steamed or fried rice. This restaurant is my favorite place for sesame chicken, the taste is different from other Chinese restaurants which is what makes it different. I've been here several times over the years. Today was the tipping point. No the food wasn't totally nasty, or the service awful. I guess, aside from the service, you never know what you're going to get. First of all they serve a limited menu for lunch. This place isn't the Ritz but they have always been a bit more expensive than everyone else. Granted everyone else is getting expensive, too, lately. If I am paying more, I should expect more. But no. Here I get hum drum, mediocre, if that, food at an almost good restaurant price. Example: fried rice. If I ask for fried rice I'd like fried rice. Instead I get steamed rice cooked in "name your flavor" broth. Looks are deceiving but taste isn't. This has happened more than once over the past few years. The sauce or gravy tastes watered down and is runny. This also a consistency for me. I've made better kitchen experiments on my own. Just disappointing. There are few dine in Chinese places anymore. I'd like to find just one. Some of my friends love this place, but I just can't. I've honestly tried. I feel I get better product from most any of the other take out places in town. read more

We had dinner last week and were completely underwhelmed, especially after all the brouhaha about the Best Chinese Restaurant, etc. The entrees were tasty but were plumped up by totally inappropriate additions of American vegetables. So my Shrimp and Snow Peas had a lot of (small) shrimp in it but it also had a half cup or so of chopped (American) celery and a half cup of chopped carrots, along with only about five snow peas. BTW, the carrots and celery were barely warmed, not cooked, and were beyond chewy. (Was the cook in a hurry?) Likewise the other entrees were loaded with junky vegetables not included in the menu descriptions, like (canned) water chestnuts and green and red bell peppers. Note to Chef: read and follow the menu descriptions! The service was good, and perhaps too fast - take a little more time and cook the vegetables to chewable levels. The takeout trade was brisk, which meant the food on our table, which was close to the door, got cool real fast from the breeze and became rather unappetizing as a result. Also the dining room is way too small; takeout probably the better option. And oh, yes, one more thing: 86 the tired 60's jazz in the background. read more

We always get steamed rice so can't comment on the fried rice. Only complaint I like my broccoli very tender and it usually isn't tender enough, but by no means a deal breaker. We love China 10. Food was excellent and quick to come out. Service could have been better (more professional/enthusiastic). At every table, prior to sitting, one is welcomed with a bowl crispy noodles to snack on. Started with Thai Lemongrass soup and it was spicy yet delicious. Kids sweet and sour chicken was a generous portion served with white rice and the triple delight was delicious. I have seen many pictures of dishes that look amazing here but I can't seem to order anything but the sesame chicken with white meat. It is just so good that I can't order anything else! Hubby has tried beef and broccoli, Mongolian beef and Szechuan beef and has enjoyed all of them. We also have enjoyed their egg rolls, spring rolls, crab Rangoon, wontons, wonton soup and egg drop soup. When dining in the start you with crispy noodles and their duck sauce. Food was pretty decent here. It actually exceeded my expectations of a typical chinese take out restaurant. We went during lunch so they had a few nice lunch specials going on. I ordered the beef curry noodle soup which was a good portion size - was able to split that into two meals. The quality was good and the ingredients they used were fresh. Although I'm not a fan of eggrolls from chinese take out restaurants, these were actually pretty good. They have pork in it which is not usual and the outer shell was nice and crispy but not stale. When my brother and sister in law come to town from Alabama, there only one restaurant in Greenville!!! You guessed right, its China10! My brother and his wife enjoy their retirement days going to different restaurants. Those restaurants include almost every state in the United States, cruise ships and foreign lands, including Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean and Canada! When they come to town it's China 10. My wife and I have known Phillip and Lin for around 25 years. Phillip is a master chef! How he can be so consistent is unknown! Lin and their children are always very friendly and kind. This was my first and last time getting food from China 10. Here is the review of my order. I ordered spring rolls (no mustard or duck sauce provided in my to go order), fried dumplings (doughy and no flavor--ate one) and hot and sour soup (bland). My most disappointing item was the Rosemary lamb..bland, looked and tasted more like beef and vegetables. I'm pretty sure this was beef and not lamb...for almost $20 I'm very disappointed! Honestly some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. We ordered the crab rangoon, the sesame chicken, and the pork lo mein. The sesame chicken had a great meat to breading ratio and the sauce was delicious. And the broccoli that came with it was actually steamed properly! My husband's lo mein was fantastic -- huge strips of pork, and the sauce was really flavorful. Nothing was greasy (even the rangoon -- they seemed baked vs fried -- really nice texture, though I found the sweet white sauce that comes with them a bit too sweet.) My only complaint is I think the rice is a bit dry. I like my rice more moist; and rice came with the lo mein which was odd. But overall, great service, large portions, and excellent food. read more

Wow I had heard a lot of good things about this place from the locals. My wife and I waited a couple months after this new location was opened. We were greeted by an abrasive loud mouth woman. I asked to be seated at the bar. She literally tried to change my mind three times. I ended the conversation by sitting at the bar. While pulling up my stool----we saw a health/sanitation rating of 84%. We made the mistake of not leaving after seeing the rating. The food sucked. Rice was tasteless, chicken was chewy. Lemon grass soup---didn't even remotely resemble what it should have tasted like. Will never return. DragonFly much better food, much better pricing. read more
