So good! Just moved here yet I've been here 4 times already! I get the filet mignon and shrimp entree with fried rice and veggies! Also the onion soup is so delicious and always hot and comforting not to mention, they don't charge for extra white or ginger sauce! You make the sauces yourself! read more

We really like this place! The young lady that is at the register most often (an african american female) is always very pleasant and helpful. She even made sure to remember our "usual" order lol. We always order the same thing lol. The food is really, really good and it always tastes fresh. Only 2 gripes... One would be meat portion. Depending on the cook, you get a nice portion or a skimpy one. More consistency would definitely make for five stars. The other gripe would be that the other cashiers are not as personable as our usual gal. When we go there and she's not there, the experience is definitely not the same. The prices are good as well. For 2 hibachi chicken bowls I pay about $12. Fair in my opinion. We go often and will definitely recommend to others. read more

I really like this place! Although we had a little trouble ordering our food because I think our cashier was new and did not understand English, but that's okay lol! They're shop is kinda hidden so watch out, we drive right past it. It's located in a small spot on the left of Barnes and noble. The restaurant looks clean, and there are seats available. When we came in there wasn't anybody there, it was pretty slow for a Friday. I ordered the shrimp and veggies hibachi w/ fried rice. With sweet tea, this is my favorite place to stop when coming into town. The food is affordable, quick and plentiful. Hibachi expressed opened about the time when there was only one Japanese restaurant in town and that was way too pricy for a college student. The place was great, simple and in the right area (Target complex). Every time I have come to visit Greenville for the past ten years, I have stopped at Hibachi Express. When Hibachi Express opened it was the only place a poor college student could get Japanese inspired food, unless you made it yourself... and honestly we hadn't thought of that. It is just like any other hibachi but quick and without the fun knife show.... they also skip on the onion volcano... which is a shame but worth it if you are going just for the food. When I miss hibachi (cut the word express if you are trying to sound like a true Greenvillian) I miss the chicken and steak with extra mushrooms. Don't forget to add some of the signature white sauce. My husband, an ex-employee, says it is mainly mayonnaise.... but push that out of mind... it is tasty... and a ECU college standard. Staff is so unprofessional and cursed loudly behind the counter about "someone's boyfriend" for a long while the last time I visited. If I could give this a zero I would. Food tasted terrible, staff was unfriendly, and their health code was in question. We witnessed the chef placing food near the checkout counter right into the counter not in a container, and then place that in a togo order. The place is so tight that a baby fell off a table and hit its head. The fried rice was white rice with soy sauce, the steak was tasteless, tough, and overcooked. The shrimp had casing left on them, and the miso soup had no tofu and tasted like dirty bath sock water. Will not return as my whole family's stomach hurt after. read more

Tasty, inexpensive and fast. What more could you want from a Hibachi takeout place? You can walk in, order a teriyaki chicken, pay $7 and walk out in 5 minutes. Their miso soup isn't bad either. Good value and food. I highly recommend. read more

My husband and I used to come here all the time back in 2004 and 2005 when we were in college. We haven't been back to the area since then and when we got the chance to come back our first stop was hibachi express. It was still very tasty and fast but oh my gosh, it's like they haven't cleaned that place in years. Kind of gross everywhere I looked. Usually that would stop me from eating there but the nostalgia won out and I still enjoyed fried rice and broccoli! read more

This Hibachi made my boyfriend and his friend vomit immediately after they finished their food. They asked for their money back or some type of compensation for their troubles and the workers said no. We will not be going back to this establishment. read more

This was the first Japanese restaurant of any sort in Greenville and I think a lot of people feel nostalgic toward Hibachi Express for this reason. But it is not a good place to eat. It's very dirty. Just a quarter mile down Greenville Blvd is Ninja Express where you get far better quality and value. At Hbachi Express the hibachi comes with about half as much meat as Greenville's newer habachi restaurants, and only mushrooms rather than a variety of vegetables. But the price similar to theirs. It tasted fine but why would I eat at a restaurant where I get less food, worse quality, and a dirt everywhere all while paying the same price? The people behind the counter have also clearly given up. More than 10 people came in while I ate there and not once did he say a single pleasantry. He didn't even ask me if I wanted to eat in or have it to go. He just assumed incorrectly I wanted my meal to go. This is a vestige of old Greenville best forgotten. read more
