I've been a patron of China Cafe for years - surprised that I haven't yelp'ed it yet so I am here to right that wrong. I grew up on NYC Chinatown restaurants so I have a very specific taste that I look to be met. For a take out restaurant, China Cafe is the best I have experienced not only in my area but for most of NJ. I even had them cater my daughter's sweet 16 birthday party - the only complaint was that they way over estimated the amount of food but that was partly our mistake as we learned teenagers are not big eaters at parties. The counter staff is super pleasant and all speak English very well. Their hot and sour soup is what I measure other restaurants against and so far very few come close to theirs. I have to admit, we've had a few disappointing meals there but they are few and far between. We normally take out as the dining area is small but when it's just me and misses and it's not too busy, we'll eat in. Our other favorite spot is Noodle Gourmet near the Rutgers New Brunswick campus - I think they a broader yet different menu. But for Chinese takeout, in our book, there's none better than China Cafe. read more

Best Chinese food around this area. I like their chicken broccoli and chicken curry. Their food is clean

top class takeout. One of my favorite features is that they don't destroy the whole dish with too much sauce, they give you just the right amount. Plus, the price is very good as well. read more

this place is pretty bangin!! I am truly spoiled to live so near!! Their boneless spare ribs are amazing!! The portions are very very good for the price, especially if you dine-in. Not too large seating area but this place is a take-out heaven! read more

Food is tasty and delivery is super fast. The only thing I don't like is that their prices increase weekly and don't match their menus. Needs updating when you're going to charge more money for the food. read more

The food is good but their prices are high and they give you small portions. I've been to other places where they give you more rice with your order especially when you order the chicken wings with fried rice. These guys have gone up in price but have decreased their portions. I used to go here twice a week but now go maybe once a month or when I want something different. You get more food if you eat in. One other thing, this restaurant doesn't give out any freebies. If you order $20 or more worth of food, while some in the area will give you a free soda or even food, this place sends you on your way with zip. read more

Good food but very expensive considering it's take out. Can get just as good food at much lower cost.

This place was extremely average. I came here because another location that offered more authentic Asian food was closed and I was with coworkers on our lunch break. The food was decent. I ordered the vegetable lo-mein with the side of vegetable fried rice. I don't think that the rice had much flavor at all and I'm usually used to receiving egg in my fried rice so perhaps that was what turned me off of it. The lo-mein was okay but extremely filling and I felt very gross after leaving here. The lunch portion was huge but I would have rather paid less for a smaller portion than waste 10$ on an overly large somewhat flavorless meal. The interior was a bit awkward and was filled with grungy looking people that kept staring at me and my coworkers while we ate. The next time I spend 10-15$ on lunch I would much rather it be at a nicer location, however, I guess that's what is expected at a generic Chinese joint such as this one. read more

The food is great and the service us super quick. We usually order Mei fun(slim noodles), it's awesome.

As mentioned earlier, this place is a well oiled machine. Phone order was clearly understood and delivered within 30min! I really was excited to get the food and dive right in. First noticeable thing was that there was a lot of food, the containers are DEEP, and the food looks delicious. We had sesame chicken, chicken lo mein, chicken and broccoli, and chicken wings. We kept the order simple and we ordered our usual favorites so that we can compare to our other local spot. I can tell you enough how good these chicken wings were, they blew my mind! The lo mein was, according to my wife, 'the best she's ever had'. The chicken and broccoli tasted average, nothing spectacular but it wasn't bad either. The sesame chicken was a huge disappointment, the sauce is too thick and sticky and really makes the chicken soft rather than crispy. There was just a tiny sprinkle of sesame seeds on top as if it were put on last minute in a hurry. I was really hoping that this would be our new local Chinese food take-out place but it seems that all things considered we will continue to order from somewhere else... The food looks great but in my overall opinion, it was bland, I really wish is had more character and flavor. read more

I just got off the plane and on my way to the hotel. I found all the chain restaurants. So of course I looked on Yelp and saw all the good reviews for China Cafe. From one meal here, I can conclude they were all correct. Hot and sour soup was hot and tasty. The hot and spicy beef was excellent. If I had a complaint, it would be the luncheon special was too much food. So much for complaining about generosity. One other point: the lunch menu says that the special is served until 3 o'clock. I got here at 3:15, and there was no question that they would serve me the luncheon special. The owners and staff are all very considerate and friendly. One of the regulars pointed out that the kitchen is spotless. When I get back to town, I'll come back here again. read more

Best take out in the area. Have a few tables inside so can eat there but is primarily a take out place. Food is very tasty and flavorful, very big portions. Can see the kitchen when at counter, very very clean kitchen area. Highly recommend!! read more

Seriously, Hands down they have the best chinese food in Middlesex County. Everything there is realy good...If your ever at Woodbridge Mall forget the food court and go here my faves is the egg lo mein, broccoli in brown sauce, the chicken wings are slamming. My girl really enjoys the Pepper Steak 3x spicy. O overall the food is really good. read more

Chinese Food Heaven! Give these guys 6 stars! Great, Fresh, Awesome and CLEAN! I have eaten here since '92 and the food is always good. The Ribs, the Wings, The Dumplings, the Chow Fun, the Kung Pow, the General Tso. Hey Mark Simone come get your fresh Egg Rolls and homemade hot Chinese mustard here! They make all of the prepared stuff like Egg Rolls & "Sweet and Sour" at least two or three twice a week to keep it fresh. You have to try the owners family recipe Chinese Beef Stew Soup Noodles.. YUM! I use to eat in Chinatown 6 days a week but never again. My 5 year old takes the Sesame (w/all White Meat) Chicken to school for lunch every day and finishes his broccoli. in fact his teachers said his lunch smelled so good we had to send them a take out order. The White Rice is even special. It is a special type that tastes oh so good even plain. If you like peanuts try the "Wonton Szechuan Style".just a little spicy..... and the curry is so good that the Indian restaurant staff orders their lunch here.
