    General Tsou's Chicken lunch special
    Carmen H.

We were impressed with our experience. We came for lunch on Sunday and the lunch prices were only $5.75 and included fried rice and an egg roll. The variety of choices was really good too. They also give you complimentary fried wontons before your food comes out. When our food arrived, we saw that the portions were very large. I had to get a to go box because it was so much food! The food itself was really yummy and my husband said it was his favorite takeout in the area! I might have to agree with him!

Like all of the other Chinese restaurants I've been to in Auburn, the fried rice here is strange and glows like gold. The lunch special is worth the value. The egg roll has only cabbage inside of it with a tiny piece of meat here and there. Complimentary appetizers consist of won ton chips. I ordered the shrimp with mixed vegetables which was cooked in brown sauce and was pretty decent. My friend ordered the sweet and sour chicken expecting to find the dark red-looking texture we remembered. Instead, the chicken had more breading than a bakery and the sweet and sour sauce wasn't cooked it with it. It's a side item. According to my friend, the hot and sour soup was good.

This is the worst place ever. The lady seems nice at first but she is rude. The food was nasty. I will never return ever.

As I walked in, it was just like I remembered it, minus the plastic thing separating you from the cashier. It is still a little quiet place with tables and chairs if you're wanting to dine-in. I was greeted by the young man who was serving the tables and was asked whether I wanted to dine in or out. He was really nice. I went with old faithful and decided upon the Mongolian beef and lo mien, while I got my friend honey chicken and shrimp fried rice. I've never purchased fried rice from here, so I wasn't aware that you had to buy the shrimp separately to go into the rice. Shocker. However I still purchased them. I was told 20mins. So I walked over to Kroger to grab a few things. After about 19mins I went back inside and my food wasn't ready, which was fine. So I sat inside until it was. About 35/40mins later my food had finally come out of the kitchen. I was excited because it smelled AMAZING!! When I got it to the house it was stiiiilllll hot. I grabbed an egg roll and it was the best balance between crunchy and soft and fullll of meat and veggies. My Mongolian beef on the other hand was dried out. It was as if it had been sitting for that 40mins rather than being cooked. I only ate a small portion of lo mein, as it was also not good. It did not have any flavor to it at all. Even after adding salt and soy sauce it wasn't up to par. My friend however gave his food a 5/10. Needless to say, things have changed over the years and I was highly disappointed.

Ming House, Ming House…read more.. What started with a missed-left-turn going Southbound on South College turned into a voyage, crossing a sea of flavor poured into this Earth by the Ming House cooks whose names I am not worthy of uttering. Upon my arrival, I was greeted and kindly seated by the employees. The booth cushion, soft yet firm, immediately evokes memories of my father's arms carrying me as a child. I must snap out of it though, because those days are behind me and now I'm at Ming House, reading a menu which is stupendously diverse for a Chinese restaurant in Auburn, Alabama. On the menu I'm seeing a host of Chinese favorites, some Japanese, and even Vietnamese. Though I'm no simpleton; I think to myself, 'impossible'. However, after being presented the beef Phö I ordered as a test (a cry for normalcy? for life to return to its mediocre state?) I am left speechless. Like the scene in Ratatouille, I am sent back to my childhood- no, my grandfather's childhood, his memory of tasting Phö for the first time- and then back to reality. Incredible execution of this dish. The steak skewer appetizer I ordered, albeit a little pricey, was absolutely banging too. After reading my words, it should be inexorable that you will go to Ming House the next time you crave Chinese Cuisine.
