Food is over priced. They don't stick to there posted hours. Menu prices are different from what they charge you.

Consistent, flavorful, and good portion sizes. Went for lunch and the service was pretty quick,…read morethough we went right at opening so they were still in the process of starting their day. Lunch specials are smaller portion, but good for the price (raised to $12.95 now since my last menu photo) We split a lot of dishes because we couldn't decide: Wonton soup appetizer {4.5/5}: Loved how delicate the wontons were and the clear broth was great for a cold day. Tad too salty though. Lunch special --Braised pork belly {3/5}: Very tender, but kind of monotone in flavor. Very filling! Lunch special --Hot and sour gizzards {4.5/5}: This might freak people out in terms of texture, but I LOVE this texture. Good chew and pops of heat from the peppers and acid from the pickled green beans Lunch special --Cumin dish lamb {3/5}: kind of chewy and not as much flavor as I wished, but not bad! Chicken wings {3/5}: Crunchyyyy. Battered wings, not as much flavor as their chongqing chicken which I prefer, but not bad

Outside is very much a busy shopping plaza in not the best part of town. Inside is a completely different story. Very clean and spacious, lots of booths and tables. Decorated well and a lot to see. The staff were friendly but there was a slight language barrier. We fumbled through the menu and found some bites to try. Food came out relatively quick, and that was a bit to manage because there were a lot of plates brought rather quickly. We got pics and dug in. The bites were flavored well. Nothing felt too greasy or under seasoned. The white pepper chicken was very crispy. But not a lot of chicken on each bite. The sweet and sour soup was both sweet and sour, but balanced enough that you could keep on eating it. The dumplings were fresh noodles and the filling was spiced well. The only flop was the spare ribs. Really tasty sauce, but very little meat on the bone. Had to suck on the bones to scrape enough meat off to make it a proper appetizer. It tasted good, just was not easy to eat. Price for the area was high for the neighborhood. It's got the quality and the flavor to command that price easily, but it doesn't match the stores. It's really good, but know that you're getting the real deal sichuan experience. Expect some heat, some saucy fingers, and some bones, and you'll get some really good bites

The…read morespace is simple, with small tables and picture menus covering the walls, but that just adds to its charm. Everything is made fresh to order from the thick, hand-pulled noodles, dumplings, and scallion pancakes. Ordering is quick and casual. You place your order at the back right counter when you walk in (for dine-in or takeout), and the cashier also acts as your server. If you order a noodle soup, they'll ask if you want green onions and/or cilantro. After that, just grab any open table and relax. We ordered a variety of dishes. Appetizers: Scallion pancakes: (3/5) nice crispy pancakes with scallions. Dumplings with pork and leeks: (3/5) tender dumplings filled with pork and some leeks Spicy stewed beef noodle soup: (4/5) thick hand pulled noodles in a savory broth topped with vegetables like bok choy and mushroom and some tender beef Hot and sour vermicelli soup: (4/5) very tangy savory broth with tender vermicelli noodle and ground pork. Medium spicy level Biang Biang noodles with pork: (4/5) their signature hand-pulled noodles are sautéed in a medium spicy sauce with pork. Overall this place hits the spot for an authentic Chinese meal without the glitz and glamour.

A lot of Pan-Asian places are jacks of all trade...masters of nothing. Bamboo is excellent on all fronts. Really friendly staff too that knows Mom well.

"I've got all you need Like a Ginsu knife or a bamboo…read moresteamer Late-night TV hawk-eyed screamer" (Jimmy Buffett) Three of us popped in on Christmas Day after seeing the 12:30 showing of "A Complete Unknown" in Plainville. We didn't have reservations but were easily seated in a booth in the side dining room. Bamboo's menu is very deep and boasts Chinese, Japanese, Thai, sushi, tempura, Bento boxes and more- easily 100 options. Our group decided on a miso soup ($3.50), a Hot and Sour Soup ($3.95), an order of Chicken Tempura ($21 with an included miso soup), an order of Lemongrass Tofu ($15.50), and an order of Tuna Avocado Tartar ($14.95). I had the Hot and Sour Soup and Lemongrass Tofu. I judge H&S soup by its broth, and this was excellent. Deep flavor, none of the watery blandness I see more than once in a while. And it was hot temperature wise and fairly hot spiciness wise. It was meatless, but it packed a lot of vegetables, egg threads, tofu and more. The Lemongrass Tofu included a very generous portion of fried tofu triangles served "Hot & spicy with red & green peppers, red onion & mushrooms in a spicy lemon grass sauce" and a cup of rice. I enjoyed it a lot -the veggies were plentiful, the sauce had a mild spicy burn, and the tofu was tender and delicious. Half of the portion came home with me. I did try an onion ring from my wife's tempura dish and was struck by the lack of oiliness to it. Some tempuras are served with an oil slick in the dish and pieces that glisten like a sky full of stars. The tempura onion I had was great. It was very tender with a crunchy delicious dry batter. Service was excellent, from the moment we approached the hostess station, to being walked to our table, to water glasses and refills, to ordering, to several check-backs, to delivery of our take-out boxes, to the check presentation. Shout out to our server Alyssa, she was great. We had a wonderful experience at Bamboo.
