Unfortunately the food has dropped in quality and predation. I had the #4 dinner for one which had very dry overcooked ribs and shrimp hat had more batter and sauce thqn shrimp. Also, the now put their takeout food in a styrofoam clam shell container. Not a hiforl pie pan with sealable lit. They also have switched to plastic bags from paper. O stop leakage and spillage. Ordered takeout from China House on a recent trip to Deerhurst Resort as we were craving Chinese food. My boyfriend and I come from downtown Toronto so our standards are fairly high for this but we were pleasantly surprised by how great the food tasted and the size of the portions. The takeout lasted us for 3 meals definitely got our money's worth! Food was well packaged and we got some fortune cookies as well. The restaurant has a wide selection and the taste is very authentic. The restaurant interior was also well maintained and there were hand sanitizers upon entry. Brought my family here twice, only because we wanted to give them another chance after the first time. The food quality is very low compared to what we are use to for a Chinese food restaurant. We ordered 3-5 dishes so we can share and they literally brought one out at a time with 2-4 minutes in-between bringing out the next dish. Completely lost for words, my 6 and 10 years old kids and wife refuse to go back. I agree with them! read more

Disappointed. Very rudimentary Chinese food. Fried rice means partially uncooked rice smothered in soy sauce. Also offers buffet. Clean restaurant. Nice interior but with better food, it can really offer great option to Huntsville. Better take 20 min trek to Bracebridge to have better food. read more

If this wasn't the only Chinese food place I would go elsewhere. Ordered at 4 got here at 7 and I'm waiting along side of 3 other vehicles for our orders. This place has never had my food on time and once had to wait hours. Simply put: if you don't have enough time to make a few orders then you need to be telling people you don't have time. It's exactly what we needed one night of our vacation: unapologetically Americanized Chinese food. Nothing wrong with that! Even though we ordered takeout just 30 minutes before they closed, the food was fresh and tasty. It's much better than Mandarin. Generous portions and fast service made for a nice evening. I don't know what the other options in Huntsville may be, but as a tourist craving Chinese food, I was quite happy. Decent food however the service for take out was sub par. The person who answered the phone for our order was less then professional and acted as if phone calls were a nuisance and annoying. I wanna give this place a zero star, but unfortunately Yelp doesn't have this choice. Today, Oct 9th, 2016. I had my dinner in this restaurant. Their food is normal. When I said I wanna pay bill, they gave me a bill with automatically added 15% tips. And their servant didn't tell me. It was noticed by myself. I know if they get a chance to explain, they probably gonna say that they had told me: it is 17.99$ per person plus tax plus tips. How's that is a kind of informing of adding 15% tips by themselves??? If I didn't find the trick, I would pay tips again by the "total amount". On the other hand, It shows PST item on the bill. I believe Ontario did not have PST since 2010, and only has HST of 13%. Under the PST item. There is a GST item, and this is the place they write tips. From my perspective, that is absolutely intentional. Normally, any restaurant would give customers bills with adding only tax rather than adding everything together (I mean tips) without informing, because how many tips I wanna give is my choice and actually my feedback to their service. They are intentionally taking money from customers that they don't deserve! Besides, the name is China house. But I didn't see any Chinese in the restaurant except customers. I went to order aeal last night as we have in past. We hadn't ordered from them much lately due to Covid but we really were looking forward to having Chinese food. I called, the female that answered the phone said she had to put me on hold for a minute but I could hear evry single word she was saying to someone else. She was to busy talking to another person about everything except ordering food. I yelled in the phone to inform her that I could hear all & that I wanted to place an order. My husband told me to hang up cuz obviously they didn't need our business if she was treating customer like that. I called back she tried to put me on hold again, I told her I wanted to speak with someone how would take my order but she became. She proceeded to put me on hold saying she was looking after a customer. I told her not to put me on hold & that if that was the way she treated her customers then she just lost a customer. We used to order from the China House all the time. I would think that with a new business owner looking for customers that their staff or owner would treat customers much better than that. If there were a rating lower than one star, that is what I would give this place. It's clean, I'll give you that, at least the front of the house is and it's probably because of the delightful wait staff. the owners are rude and might be cash skimming - you can't pay with cash unless the owner comes out from the back to process. Credit cards - the staff are allowed to process. But that's a side issue - the food is inedible. INEDIBLE! the last time we ate there, we left without finishing the food. The few times that I have done takeaway, it wasn't good at all - the girls that I work with feel the way - none of us go there anymore. NASTY! read more

Terrible - greasy, flavourless food, the only somewhat edible food was fried noodles. All meats were awful, even tofu was unedible. Also, overpriced - a meal for 4 - two adults and two young kids came up to be $50. read more
