Don't judge a book by its cover. While the place needs a little TLC, the food is excellent, and a great value for your money, and the service is pleasant. We had sweet and sour chicken, chicken egg foo yung and egg rolls. We ordered white rice instead of the fried rice each dish normally comes with, based on previous customer comment. The egg rolls were large and we were pleased they offered packets of duck sauce. Loved the sweet and sour chicken! Enough for two. We were also pleased with the mild sauce served with the egg foo Yung, and each piece (3) had plenty of chicken. I've been to China House 3 or 4 times now, trying something different each time. Without going into detail with each dish, I'll just say that the food is okay/pretty good. Each dish I've had has been relatively bland. It's worth noting that they don't take credit cards, at all. I'm not aware of many other Chinese joints in the area (I don't live in the Walkerton area), so it's nice to have it as an option. Just don't get your hopes up. read more

China House is definitely the best place to eat in Walkerton. Of course, that's not saying much - but I actually love China House! Their food is delicious and a great value. I always get the orange chicken and it's fantastic. Real orange peel and everything. Also, I'm not a tea drinker myself, but the people with whom I go to China House are, and the iced tea here is made with frozen tea as ice cubes. Very smart so it doesn't get watered down! Great food at a great price in a smaller town! I am a huge fan of the General Tso, Sesame, Sweet and Sour Chicken/Pork, and Chicken and Broccoli. The option to get Egg Rolls or Crab Ragoon with a combo is awesome! Only downfall is not being open on Monday as with most Chinese restaurants bahaha! My children enjoyed the broth from the wonton soup and the sticky rice...but that was about it. The food was very bland and the egg rolls, though they looked delicious, were over filled with cabbage and no flavor. We weren't sure about this place when we walked in because the appearance wasn't inviting. However, don't judge a book by its cover. There were 5 of us in the group. We each had something different and thought everything was delicious. With 4 appetizers, 3 combo meals, 2 regular meals, 2 extra orders of rice, and 2 orders of almond cookies the entire order was less than $50. We ate quite well for under $10 each. Amazing!
