With China Moon, you should expect pretty average to below average Chinese food. Quite honestly, there are only a few things I think are worth ordering. The beef lo mein is my favorite. I could not tell you what cut of meat they use(most likely whatever is cheapest), but it is very tender. The noodles are so delicious. Sometimes places put too much sesame oil in the lo mein sauce, but in this case there is a great umami flavor happening. I hate their crab Rangoon. Which make me so sad because I am a crab Rangoon fanatic. This crab Rangoon must have carrots in it to look like there is more crab, but really it's just vegetable. I don't know about you, but I don't eat Chinese food for the vegetables. The restaurant itself is sketchy and they only do takeout, but the lady who works the pickup area is very easy to talk to. Overall, China moon is cheap enough for me to get the lo mein every once in a while, but I've had better takeout in the area. read more

I was craving some Chinese food and like to think we have a pretty good variety in the fox valley and all are pretty comparable. I am not one to write negative reviews but i think people need to know my experience. I ordered the following off eat streets and yes i know some food items dont travel well but when you think of take out, thats Chinese in my mind. Beef low mein Mushroom fried rice 2 spring rolls Steamed dumplings Crab rangoons Came with a teriyaki soy based sauce for the dumplings and sweet n sour for the spring rolls -spring rolls- - Soggy, not crisp at all, but yet over cooked. The filling was not appetizing. + they did send enough sweet and sour sauce to make them atleast edible. -steamed dumplings- Now, these are my favorite to get, gyoza, steamed or fried are a staple. I also know a bit about the culture behind dumplings and that it really is an art. -these looked like balled up, crumpled soggy wet newspaper and the filling looked to be like mystery meat. The dough is very very heavy and thick and tasted slightly raw, almost like playdoh consistency -very good tasting sauce with it but i could only eat 1. -mushroom fried rice- My go to is normally white rice but i was looking for something a little more flavorful to go with the main dish. - only negative would be it has a hint taste of a unclean flat top, like it hasnt been really scrubbed for a long time. But just a smidge and most places taste that way because they make so many different things on it. +besides that, pretty good flavor, the veggies were cooked nicely, onion and mushroom had a little bite to the. And the peas and carrots didnt seem like they came from frozen but probably were, but still good. -crab rangoons- I love rangoons, who doesnt but also, i feel like every place has their own way of making them, from the filling, size, how much meat is jn them, what kind of wonton to use and if they season them, but also, it comes down to the flavor from the oil they fri them in and you can really tell if the oil has been changed recently or if they use the same vat to fry everything in Good job china moon! Decent size, not over cooked, a lot of meat, and good meat to cream cheese ratio. The wonton is light and crispy and overall delicious NOW for the piece de resistance, -beef low mein- Delicious, flavorful, the beef pieces were decent size, and were tender, not chewy. The veggies were great and the noodles were cooked to perfection. Really good low mein. I hope this helps make your decision. Even though there was a lot of negatives i would probably order again but ill pass on the dumplings and spring rolls for sure. read more

Horrible service! Called to place an order - easily the rudest phone call I've ever experienced when placing a delivery order. The lady who attempted to take the order was short with her responses, and completely disrespectful. I asked questions and got hung up on. When I called back, I said I wanted to cancel my order because she was so rude, and got hung up on again. If I could rate this place with less than 1 star - I would. Would not recommend to anyone; lots of better choices in the area - don't waste your time here! China Gate in Kimberly has far better service and speed! read more

Floors, tables, seats... all sticky Rice cookers look like "filthy" trash cans with broken lids. No air-conditioning with back door wide open welcoming flies all over the food. Was in town visiting friends and decided on dinner. Had meals delivered. Food was good tasting and good portions. The best part was the driver. He figured out where we were, even though it had been written down wrong. Then he helped us out to make sure we got our food even when he couldn't accept my card. The delivery driver hit my car! Then when confronted about it over the phone, he swore at me and hung up on me! Soooo, I drove right over to restaurant and demanded to speak to the driver with the intent to knock him out but of course he was nowhere to be found. I called the police and they were unable to locate him. When the officer questioned the owner, they denied having any contact info about their employee. And still to this day, I've never received an apology or the damage fixed. Not to mention the food was terrible. Do not order from this shit hole! read more

I have always enjoyed china moon. The owner Cindy knows our whole family, and have went to school with her daughter. They are always smiling and the food is amazing. This place is absolutely disgusting. We opened the cooler where they keep the sodas and there was a terrible fish odor that made me gag. The cooler had a hand mixer in a dish sitting in there with something in there, looked like the cooler has never been cleaned. The whole place was filthy with cobwebs and dust. 4 mats on top of each other on the floor, all filthy. Empty soda boxes just thrown in the corner. I saw one of the cooks open the freeze behind the counter and it was terrible! Probably hasn't ever been cleaned out. My husband walked toward the back by the soda machine and said it was all rusty and there was food sitting out in crock pots. My 5 year old daughter yelled out how disgusting this place is. I'm serialist surprised they're sill open with how filthy it is in there. I'm thinking the 5 star reviews are from delivery orders so these people have no idea what this place looks like. read more

My daughter and I love Chinese food and saw the good ratings on Yelp, so couldn't wait to give it a try. We were in town for a Basket Ball Tournament. Well, we got there about 11:40, and they had lunch buffet all ready to go, so we got that. I wasn't very impressed, I started with an egg roll and it didn't seem fresh, more like a leftover from the day before. One of the beef dishes was pretty good, but the rest was just very below Average! The place seemed very dirty, gave me the creeps. At noon they were bringing in food boxes with the door being opened a lot with cold air blowing through the place. After being in a gym with lots of noise, buzzers, and whistles, it would have been nice to have a break from noise, but the kitchen was having a very loud disscussion, almost sounded like an argument, that never ended through are entire lunch. I was very disappointed and wouldn't suggest going unless your ok with very below average food. Also, lunch on a Saturday, there was only one other couple eating. Pass on this place.. read more

Delicious! We enjoyed delivery of Orange Chicken, Hunan Style Pork, Eggrolls, and Crab Rangoon. The Orange Chicken was our favorite followed by *huge* Crab Rangoon's. The asian lady who answered the call was nice. The delivery was fast and the portions are great. But the food itself is eh! We ordered the lo mein which was the best dish - the only dish we ate all of it. The General Tso- not good at all. And the seafood delight dish with the lobster half was not as good as I expected it to be. Just ordered tonight for delivery. I usually always pick up my food, and have explained to them after I moved back to this area, that I am now allergic to any fungi (which means mushrooms & soy sauce in the dish I always order - which is fermented in both mold and yeast fungi). Ordered my typical chicken with mixed vegetables, no mushrooms, no rice, and in clear sauce (not brown/soy sauce). I clarified twice, because I never assume someone remembers. In the past, she was always so very nice, but tonight I will never order there again. I called after the food was delivered, when I realized it was cooked in the brown/soy sauce. She said she did not hear me say clear sauce (which I order EVERY time and clarify EVERY time)...and she said she could not deliver again tonight to my house (which is about 5 minutes away and it's 7:30 p.m. - long before their closing time). She told me to order another day and she will give me $2.00 off. I was floored at her response. When a person is allergic to something and they clarify a specific sauce, and you mess that up, you do not tell the person to just order another day. I now have to throw out the food, because it's not worth the severe rash I'll get on my eyes and throat if I eat it....and nobody else is here to eat it. COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS ! I've read in other reviews for this place in years prior, that they received bad and rude service...I was shocked....however today, this is no longer a shock to me. read more
