raw sesame chicken

Been going here for years and never had any complaints. Stopped by this past week for some sesame chicken. I ate a piece and thought it tasted funky but ignored it. I took a bite out of the second piece only for it to be completely raw. I now have food poisoning.

To go container witH half gone and the leftover celery!

Tried this place a couple of times, about 3 years ago when we moved to the area, and after the three strike rule, haven't been back. But everything has changed and I was out and thought , start fresh, give it a try rather than going farther for the Chinese food I have been enjoying lately. Called, ordered the chicken cashew meal, always my first order at a new Chin restaurant, got there 15 minutes later and waited another 10. They were busy, such a good sign, thinking I may have wasted a couple of good food years! Well, the meal was ok, dry, especially the rice and for fried rice, very few vegetables, almost vegetables free. Then chicken and cashew ...the chicken, I believe was coated in something, maybe cornstarch, but I'm reaching, had an unusual texture, the sauce was good, it needed more, but the problem was ratio. Typically the name of the dish will feature the main ingredient, in this case it was far far off! Prices have gone up, products are less plentiful but charge me a fair price for contents! My to go plate , I'm guessing, held maybe 3 cups of food, the rice would have been at least a cup. I took 1/2 the rice, 1/2 the chicken and cashew and put on a dinner plate. I started eating and was finding I was eating and seeing more celery than anything, ate what I wanted and then took the remaining celery and put it together....after eating a great deal... over a cup of celery! This is a classic case of filler, ruins the dish and is a killer in my opinion. Obviously, they don't need my business, they have a great location, they have done well in over passing COVId precautions, but don't play with me, give me the best of the ingredients, no fillers, no lies, chicken an chasers, fried rice with vegetables, rather would have had a smaller, good portion than a larger ruined portion.

Pork fried rice, chicken egg-foo-young and egg roll.

Nothing tastes fresh there. either it's the oil or the pans but something overrides the flavor of the ingredients.

We live…read morein The Villages, unfortunately there just aren't any authentic ethnic restaurants in The Villages. There are wanna be Chinese restaurants in The Villages but the food is Chinese-American and I would not even eat there or recommend them. Yummy House in Ocala was actually referred to us by the owner of Square 1 Burgers in The Villages, another fantastic restaurant but that's another review. Yummy House offers a variety of authentic Chinese dishes, and they also offer Dim Sum on weekends. The first time my spouse and I went there, we couldn't believe the choices. We used to always drive to Peter's Kitchen in Orlando but it was over an hour to drive there for us. Ocala was much closer and to be quite honest just as good as the restaurant in Orlando. Every dish I've ordered there has been out of this world. Which makes it so hard for me to choose my entrée. I do have a favorite server at Yummy House. His name is Ming. So, when I dine at Yummy House, I always ask to be seated at Ming's area. I also golf in Ocala which friends, about 8 to 12 of us. After golf, we normally have lunch together too. So, Yummy House is at the top of the list for us. When we do, I call the restaurant ahead to make a reservation and ask them to assign Ming to us. Ming always provides excellent service and especially with me being Asian, he kind of knows what type of dish I like and when I order a dish he will normally make suggestions to add to the dish or cook a certain way that knows I would like. He also makes suggestions to each person in our group and sometimes he'll tell them to try a dish that he's sure they've never had before. He tries to take them out of their comfort zone. They've always been happy with his suggestion. The restaurant itself reminds me of some of the Chinese restaurants I've been to that is not a fast-food restaurant. Very authentic inside. They also offer a beer called Lucky Buddha. I think everyone likes to order the beef because the bottle is in the shape of Buddha. Yesterday, we met friends at Yummy House who are visiting from Boston. Unfortunately, Ming was off and another server took care of us. He was a good server but just not like Ming who really goes out of his way to talk to you, joke and laugh. However, he was not a bad server but he was just there to provide server and do his job. So, I cannot fault him for that. So overall the entire experience yesterday was good. I highly recommend Yummy House if you are near the Ocala area and are craving for authentic Chinese food.

Ive had great experience twice before, with their General Tso chicken…read more That said, I ordered General Tso last Friday. Within a few hours I was sick to my stomach on Friday night, all day on Saturday, and 3/4 of Sunday. That said, I didnt eat any other food. I drank water only. After my dry leaves on Sunday afternoon, I experienced 3 violent vomit episodes. Immediately my nausea went away. I looked into the toilet. All I saw were the food items that made up the China Wok General Tso chicken meal. I dont think I'll eat here anymore. For everyone else, eaters beware !

On food taste, I prefer FIrst Wok down the street. It is also average but they are a bit bolder on their flavors. But for sheer value, I don't think you can beat China Wok (see pictures). When I picked up the box, it felt heavy. After loading up a plate (pictured), there was still enough for 2 more meals. Sure, a lot of fried rice, which is not the best for a diabetic like me, but also an ample amount of the chicken. As it is only marginally different from First Wok, this would be the spot if you are seeking value. Food is good, but standard. The atmosphere is like any other Chinese takeout restaurant. Minimal tables and chairs and a larger counter to order. Cooks in the back manning the woks. The daughter of the owners served me and I was very impressed to have someone I would guess around 12 handling this duty so well. I talked to the parents for a bit about how impressed I was. We homeschooled and all of my daughters got honors in college, so I can really appreciate someone who takes time to teach their children.
