I would say this is one of the better ones I've tried. Tonight was steamed shrimp & chicken with brown rice and garlic sauce on the side and it was pretty amazing. I was very happy with the quality of the chicken & shrimp. It was flavorful and tender. I would definitely order this again. Loved sharing fried noodles with my hubby. We accompanied them with a side of our own sweet and sour. They are light and crispy and o so yummy. My honey ordered the chicken chow main and also very much enjoyed. If you order from them ask for only plastic bag because they have roaches like most Chinese food places do but twice Iv seen roaches in my house and I never had a roach problem all the years living in my house but when someone mentioned did I order Chinese food and then fallowed asking how it was delivered it all clicked together .. other then that the food is amazing but u also need to make sure u record when u order with them because if they mess up they will fight with u saying its how u ordered it and never fix the issue without dealing with a hassle read more

I had no idea what to expect as I was trying to find a new Chinese restaurant. I found this establishment on the way to a friend's house, so I decided to try it since new owners had taken over. The location doesn't look much from the outside. Very small inside with no seating, but the food was delicious. I believe these are new owners as the previous owners; I was not a fan of them. The food wasn't that great. However, these news owners are excellent. The food I ordered was probably the best I've eaten around the area. I look forward to trying other items on the menu, but with confidence, the boneless ribs platter with fried rice was excellent. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. I'll start by saying my husband found it to be relatively easy to convey his order on the phone. Good sign. We received a flyer in the mail and decided to give them a try. Flyer had a coupon offering a free meal if you spend over $50 (we always do). The free meal included pork, chicken, beef, veggies and rice. Perfect for my son to bring to work. So don't forget to take advantage of that offer. Other free offers are available depending on what you spend. Son said the egg drop and wonton soup was the best he's had in a while. Steamed dumplings were tasty as well as the lo mein. Husband had Three Stars In Garlic ( chicken, beef, pork) $11.95. Really liked it and generous portion. I had Hunan Chicken $10.45 which I enjoyed and had enough to save for tomorrow's lunch. The family that owns it was very nice and the children are polite and mature. So sweet. Ordered 50$ of Chinese food. I asked for my rice separated from the combo because I have a picky toddler. They wanted to charge me 2.50$ to do this.. I was upset but accepted it. Then I pick up the food and I received one of my meals separated.. and then this.. I went back to explain the situation and they basically told me they can't do anything and that they did it the correct way.... The food is pretty horrible, at least from where I am sitting... which happens to be in front of a combination platter. The fried rice is beyond old, it's lifeless, and dry as if it was sitting in a garbage can for a month. It taste like sand even with an infusion of condiments provided. It can even get temperature, I microwaved it for 3 minutes and the rice still isn't remotely warm. My egg roll is also lifeless and greasy. Now maybe I'm just used to a finer, more authentic Chinese food experience being that I often visit Chinatown and Flushing, Queens. But China Wok here in Holtsville, this is NOT it! And by "it" I mean hot, delicious, fine, or authentic! You'd be better off with a bag of potato chips!! read more

Where do I begin? I ordered from China Wok on Friday the 29th. They are 4-miles from my house and with the 4-star rating on Yelp, I was excited they delivered to my location. After-all, we're all in search of decent Chinese delivery, right? I ordered Plain Fried Rice, Shrimp with Garlic Sauce, Chicken with Broccoli, some White Rice, and an Egg Roll. When the delivery arrived, I noticed oil at the bottom of the bag. That's generally a bad sign. I didn't say anything to the driver about it, he actually mentioned it to me and said "don't worry about that, one of the containers is probably full, so a little sauce came out.". He asked me if I wanted to go inspect everything to make sure it was good. I figured that was a great sign, gave him a $7.00 tip instead of $5.00, and couldn't wait to open everything up! He was very friendly, so all good there! My lord, the absolute worse Chinese food I've ever had in my life. This happens often when you try a new Chinese takeout, the food stinks, but you can eat it most of the time, you just say "I'll never order from this place again.". Not this stuff, it wasn't edible. Here's what stinks for someone like me. I am a type-1 diabetic and I stay away from carbohydrates. I generally treat myself once or twice a week. Prior to opening the food, I took my 10-units of insulin to handle the rice and whatnot. Generally that's safe because if the food stinks, I can always just eat the white rice to cover the insulin. Not in this case! The Fried Rice had this awful taste and odor to it, I can't even describe it. Bad eggs? Rice can't actually go bad, can it? I took a bite and just dumped it in the trash. My daughter couldn't even look at the Chicken with Broccoli. I don't want to say what I think the chicken was. I know that's a common joke but I am not even kidding, it wasn't chicken. The White Rice smelled just like the Fried Rice did. No way in the world was I going to eat shrimp from a place that can't even prepare rice, not a chance. I opened the lid, looked at the shrimp, and tossed it in the garbage. I was so disappointed, I didn't even recycle the plastic containers. I generally rinse them out and recycle, but I didn't even want this crap down my drain, and in my cesspool. Between tip and food, ~$45.00 down-the-drain. Considering some of the other reviews on here, maybe it was just a bad night for China Wok, who knows. Try it for yourself, maybe you'll have better luck. They really deserve 0 stars ! Customer service is very important for any business no matter how big or small. The place already looks run down and raggedy on top of that the absolute worst customer service I've ever had ! We've order from here at least over 15 times so we are return customers. I usually pick up my order but I have had delivery a few times. Today I got home late so I ordered delivery. Let's not forget it's 1 million other Chinese restaurants to order from and I will never ever order from here again. The driver who delivered was racist, disgusting and rude, he had to audacity to come back and knock on my door after seeing the tip I left and asked why he wasn't getting a bigger tip Lol so I asked if he wanted me to take the tip back. Now If I was a white customer would he come back to my door yelling about a bigger tip ? I mean you only drive the food 3 mins you want a $10 tip ? Of course I called the restaurant and complained and the manager saw nothing wrong with his drivers rude attitude. The manager was also very rude and nasty he didn't see an issue with his driver being racist or rude ! He asked how much the tip was ? Ive been a manger for years and the customer is always right ! The sauce was really thick and the meat ended up being soggy, probably because too much sauce. The egg drop soup was also a strangely thick. Overall not bad. I ordered General Tso's chicken and sesame beef. Both were very good. A nice surprise was found when I opened the to go bag, a small container of pineapple ! The order took about 15 mins. The restaurant is very small with two tables inside and I've outside. The front area was dingy like most small Chinese restaurants. I was searching for months for a good Chinese place. Having found this gem that's close to our house we will never go to another place again. My husband and I and even our neighbors all love this place. They are very consistent with there caliber of food. We never get bland or strange consistencies of meat whether chewy or too soft Besides always getting great food from this place what really stands out is their customer service. Twice now we have gotten wrong food in a delivery. That may seem like a lot however we order almost every week or every other week so I do not think the rate is that high. They will always come back with the food. Tonight I complained because the delivery guy did not have any change and he walked away with a $10 tip. Is an extra $5 going to break the bank? Obviously not if I'm ordering takeout. It was the principal however because the boy didn't offer any change he just turned away with the money, saying he had no change ONLY after I asked. I called China Wok to see if it was true. They said it was. 10 minutes later the Chinese man comes to my door with $5. Spareribs , large order, very generous, and they were good. Not the best, but ok. Also an order of shrimp toast was not good at all. EDIT: So, while I was away on vacation my boyfriends family had ordered from this restaurant (it's his dads favorite which is why my review below was made because we couldn't understand why the worker on the phone wasn't very helpful in our situation when my boyfriends father always orders from them.) When they ordered while I was away, the owner of the restaurant came to deliver their food and offered a very sincere apology and stated he had spoke with the workers on that night in regards to what happened and after seeing my review. I honestly didn't want to delete my review ONLY because if there are any customers with an allergy or any restrictions at all, I want them to make sure they triple check what they're ordering; but I did take out a few sentences and decided to write an edit on top of the old review. Because the owner apologized and even came here on his own to deliver their meal shows me he is a very great person and cares about his business and his customers. Because of that I have changed my review (I do not want him to lose any business especially after being closed for so long due to the pandemic and because he can't always control how his workers are - which I understand.) I would really like to thank the owner for understanding our frustrations, it's very hard to eat out when you're restricted and I truly appreciate him taking the time and speaking to my boyfriend and his family. OLD REVIEW: I have never gone to a Chinese restaurant that puts meat in EVERYTHING they make. I have ordered spring rolls and hot and sour soup from plenty of restaurants and they never have meat just automatically made into it. Sweet and sour soup I have gotten from multiple restaurants only have tofu in it, this place has beef already made in the soup. So anyone with allergies BEWARE. Also, since when does vegetable spring rolls have shrimp and meat in them? Never. But hey, there's do. So again, allergies beware. We called stating I have an allergy and three of the workers who were talking while we were listening to the call clearly didn't care and all we were told was "next time tell us".. yes. Granted I should've told them but when I always order the same thing from every Chinese restaurant I didn't expect to get meat in theirs.
