Last night we ordered two Chicken dishes and pan fried dumplings. General Tso's and Sesame. The chicken was very dry with a minimal amount of sauce on both. The dumplings should have been fried longer and the sauce was bland. Not the 4.4* we were hoping for. read more

My mom said not to drink my calories.. so I eat them instead. Food is always on point, I moved her 4 years ago and go at least once a week. They are always very friendly with a smile on their faces. I've also come in with my work buddies and ate in and it was great. I was able to go from 300 pounds down to 170 and still losing weight. This is my go to comfort food. Mr Wang is the best Chinese take out in Suffolk County and it's not even close. Every Sunday we get Sesame chicken and Egg Foo Young Dinner combo specials and it is ALWAYS delicious and served fresh with a smile. I find that most LI Chinese food is bland and mushy but that is clearly not the case here. The store is clean and they are very nice and efficient and consistent with the orders. I even bought Mr Wang T shirts for everyone! Thank you Mr Wang. You restored my faith in LI Chinese food after years of disappointment. 5 STARS. read more

Was going to be in the Oakdale area around dinner time so decided to stop at Mr. Wang, which is located in a small strip mall on Montauk Hwy across from the Oakdale train station. I ordered a spring roll, pan seared shrimp dumplings & house special mei fun I wish Chinese restaurants wouldn't cook their egg/spring rolls first and leave them sitting on the counter until the rest of the meal is done. As with most other take out places the roll was luke warm and a bit soggy, but the taste was good The dumplings were very tasty but a bit oily, next time I'll try getting them steamed. The dipping sauce is nicely acidic The mei fun, that's the one with the thin rice noodles, was ok, with a good amount of chicken, shrimp and pork plus veggies but it lacked any real flavor. Once I added some low sodium soy sauce it was much better. I might try the Singapore version since that's usually much spicier They have a very extensive menu and I will go back to try some of their other offerings, especially the Chinatown noodle soups and the drunken chicken. I recently discovered this Chinese restaurant very close to my home in Oakdale. I've been trying to find a new place to try and I'm so happy I found Mr. Wang's. The first time I went I had the drunken chicken it was a bit spicy, but delicious with a nice sauce and yummy noodles. The portion is very large, so there is plenty to share. The second time I went, I had the steamed vegetable dumplings which were really excellent and Moo Goo Gai Pan , also delicious with lots of big chunks of white meat chicken. My world has changed. So fabulous I can't believe I never knew about this place. It says Chinese Food on the sign outside but the food here is ABSOLUTELY Asian Gourmet as the menu says. We ordered at the counter and had a seat, they asked if we were staying and when the food was ready they brought it right out popping hot to our table. Service with a smile. If your go to is... sesame chicken and you're always disappointed that it's so fatty and mushy, you absolutely have to treat yourself to this perfectly cooked lightly golden crispy exterior with juicy flavorful white meat inside. I was meeting up with my friend for a nice walk at the arboretum, but she was running late. All of a sudden I got extremely hungry. I looked through my Yelp bookmarks,and saw this place was 10 mins away driving distance. I totally judge a place based on their crab rangoons ; Once, I took my first bite I wanted to shake Mr. Wang's hand. It goes down as one of the best crab rangoon and sesame chicken I've had the pleasure of ingesting . You know it's good when you are so eager to eat and forget to take your pic for Yelp!!! I decided on roasted pork with shrimp dumpling soup and an egg roll. The soup was great. Very filling and a generous portion. You get to pick what type of noodle you want with your soup. Choices are udon, egg noodle, mei fun noodle and something else. Flavor was great on the soup and not salty at all. Roasted pork was nice and tender and had good flavor. Shrimp dumplings were good as well. There were three included in the soup. Egg roll was basic, but good. I liked that the broth was packed separately when I picked up my to go order. Food is expensive. Ingredients lacking in several of the dishes. Had shrimp fried rice. Adequate amount of shrimp BUT nothing but rice, onions, and shrimp. NO egg, NO peas, NO carrots. One of the MOST basic fried rices I have ever eaten. Shrimp dumplings had a great taste but not enough filling in the dumpling. Shrimp dumpling noodle soup was tasty. At $12 could have had some more baby bok choy. Plenty of noodles. Dumplings delicious, again filling used too sparingly. Vegetable moo shu was delicious. Plenty veg. The best entree of dinner by far.
