My daughter absolutely loved Mercer Labs! She had already gone on a camp trip and enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back together. I found a Groupon for around $75 total for one adult and one child, which made the experience feel much more reasonably priced. Regularly it's about $60 per person. This place is truly a sensory explosion in the best way. She enjoyed every floor and pretty much every activity. From the swings in the first room to the sand play toward the end, there was always something new for her to explore. One of her favorite parts was coloring her own creation and then having it uploaded onto the big screen. Later, we were walking through another area and she spotted her creation running around on a completely different screen, which she thought was the coolest thing ever. There are so many interactive, visual, and hands-on experiences that kept her interested the entire time. We spent a little under two hours there, which felt like plenty of time for us to enjoy everything without feeling rushed. The advertised "Ball Pond" is more of a hazard than fun I was at this unique, relatively new interactive art museum with another person around a week ago, having walked in while walking around as we were both curious. They list themselves accurately as a mix of "interactive spaces that blend light, sound, and space." Tickets were easy enough to purchase while there, and we were inside soon, with them giving us a general overview of what we would see without spoiling much. Of the 15 installations, my favorites were mostly near the beginning, which included The Map, Infinite, and Volumetric. Compared to some of the later ones, these were massive and felt more immersive. I liked the sound design, as well as the various graphics, with The Map in particular feeling all-encompassing from all the various scenes being displayed. I wasn't as big a fan of the more interactive ones, as it didn't feel like they worked particularly well. The 4DSound was unique as the audio did move around, but the booming bass drowned out most other background noise. The Cave had a nice display of fake hydrangeas around, but the monkeys reminded me too much of AI nonsense. This room also included the pricey but excellent Taste Labs, which had some nice flavored seltzers that were very overpriced but tasty. I think it was $8 or so for the lychee one. Then came the downstairs, which was my least favorite. The first more interactive exhibit allowed people to move their hands around to alter the screen, but it didn't seem to work particularly well. There was an interesting robot that excavated and danced/drew with sand where you could also make things, and there was an area for people to draw stuff as well. Last and certainly least was the Ball Pond, a giant but poorly designed ball pit. The area is dark, and it is very easy to fall inside, with the areas entering the ball pit being oddly hard. Case in point: I fell when I got out of the pit onto that hard surface, landing on my leg, which left a mark, and my left rib, which is still bothering me. Fun. Outside of the fall, I had a pretty nice time. I honestly didn't mind the price, as you can spend a good amount of time inside and they clearly put a lot of effort into this. This is not my favorite museum I've been to, but I would recommend checking it out. read more

This place was excellent for my son. It reminded be of the Teamlabs I visited in Tokyo. Each room had its own theme that was visually stunning and interactive. My son enjoyed the room with the led lights hanging from the ceiling, creating a rain of light effect. He was mesmerized by lights falling down and up and then side to side at the same time. He didn't want to leave the room and just watched in awe. The entire experience for us was about an hour. A nice break to get yourself recharged for the day. read more

Since both of us love photography (he is professional photographer and I taught photography and video to high school students), we were mesmerized by the moving images and underlying story telling. This is a place for visually stunning and immersive art. I loved Mercer Labs. There are different rooms to experience and each one is unique. I've been to other immersive art museums, but this place showcases more as they have multiple rooms and different experiences, not just visual. There is a ball pit room, rooms where the music is highlighted a bit more, a floral room, and of course the different visual art rooms. Some rooms have chairs and swings, but in others, you can simply sit on the floor and enjoy the experience. I highly recommend this place and would definitely go again. 5/25/2026 The advertising for this museum do it justice for real. Never have I been somewhere with all the scenes were highlighted. Started off ordering tickets off Groupon (thank me later), and were quickly ushered into a waiting room that looked super dope. They had light drinks for purchase while waiting and you're off. Each room holds unique visuals and you can't help to feel like a kid no matter the age. A highlight of this visit was actually how many of us adults were sitting around the coloring table. These walls give everyone the feeling to be a kid again weather coloring, enjoying the ball pit or many other interactive experiences this place has something to offer everybody. There were several very cool light exhibits, but some of the interactive exhibits fell short and weren't working as expected. I finally went to Mercer Labs after planning to go for months. I had originally reserved tickets earlier, but the weather kept me from going so I really appreciated how the front desk staff honored them when I showed up later on. During my visit, they were running the Maestros and the Machines themed experience. Overall, it was just okay. There were definitely more rooms than I had expected, which was a nice surprise, but I wouldn't say the experience was worth the price. I was lucky to get the bogo deal which made it more worth it. There were a couple of highlights like the ball pit and especially the room with the sand like mateial. Those moments really brought out the child in myself. Unfortunately, a lot of the other rooms felt underwhelming. The 4D room, didn't live up to its expectation. Another downside was the lack of staff engagement. It didn't seem like they were paying much attention or enforcing any of the rules. For example, visitors were supposed to wear shoe covers in certain areas, but many people didn't and the staff didn't seem to care at all. It was a neat experience but seemed a little expensive for how short it was. There were also kids screaming, running, and throwing things all around. In the ball pit kids were jumping and throwing the balls all around, hitting others, and no parents were correcting the behavior. Mercer Labs was unlike any museum or exhibit we've ever been to! 5 stars for the price we paid (we did this as bogo during museum week) but giving it 4 stars for what the usual price would be. The exhibits were all really cool and interesting. There were a lot of fun, trippy visuals and the music they select complements the art well. When we went on a Friday afternoon it wasn't overly busy and you were able to walk around and view things easily. I can imagine if we went at a busier time it would have been more difficult to enjoy the exhibits. The staff were there when you needed them but no one was in your face or rushing anyone at any point. There were a good amount of exhibits and we took about 90 minutes to get through everything. Located on the corner of Dey St. / Cortlandt St., it is close to trains that are around & w/ in the Oculus World Trade Center Stop - includes various NYC MTA Trains & NJ PATH Trains. The "BOSS Bottled Beyond: Where Scent Meets Art" Immersive Exhibit was there 10/4/25 & 10/5/25. This was held to celebrate the launch of the Boss Bottled Beyond fragrance. Upon check-in & walking inside Mercer Labs which is a gorgeous space, patrons were given samples of the Boss Bottled Beyond fragrance, which smells heavenly. Mercer Labs has multiple floors, sensory rooms, had various Boss themed art / immersive installations, etc. One of my favorite was the immersive section that displayed the "Boss Bottled Beyond" fragrance packaging. Viewing it along w/ numerous colorful scenes/vibrant backgrounds while simultaneously enjoying the giant swings was incredible. Swinging back & forth & taking in the immersive experience was cool. Individuals could also lie down in a room w/ giant B-Shaped cushions & calming blue lighting. There was so much to take in and Boss & Mercer Labs did a fantastic job w/ this exhibit. I enjoyed the One Piece exhibit. Although, just know the timed entry is just an illusion, at least it is on the weekends. I don't see a reason why the museum has to open at 5PM. Its not a restaurant. Anyways, if you have a 5:30 entry ticket, head over at 5. The line is long enough that you'll be on it for nearly 30 minutes, then you'll get in. One of the best art museums I have ever been to! The concept is so unique and interesting that it will leave you scratching your head as to how someone could think of this and bring it to life. There are various rooms you walk through and each room has something different going on to experience. My favorite rooms were the projections show, ball pit, light show and mirrored rooms. NYC Must-See Week from January 20-February 12, 2026 offers 2-for-1 tickets to museums & attractions across the five boroughs. Mercer Labs is participating in NYC Must-See Week. My friend and I originally booked our tickets for January 25, but due to the winter storm Mercer Labs offered additional flexibility even though they were open as scheduled for visits. We decided to reschedule for Sunday, February 8, 2026 and it was easy process. On Sunday, my friend and I arrived at Mercer Labs located on Dey St in New York, NY at 1:00pm. It is very close to World Trade Center and Freedom Tower. It is highly accessible via NYC subways (A, C, E, J, Z, R, W, 2, 3, 4, 5 trains) to Fulton Street or World Trade Center stations, as well as the PATH train. There is a waiting room when you arrive. After going through the metal detectors, tickets are scanned, and then you are in the first exhibit called The Window where a brief intro and disposable shoe covers booties were given. The Window acts as the transition space between the outside world and the world within the walls of Mercer Labs. The Map is a vast 360° world of light and sound where art comes alive. Masterpieces transform from Monet to Hokusai to visions of the future, blending past and present in a dreamlike flow. There are also 4 swings that you can sit on to enjoy the art. This was one of my favorite rooms. The 4D sound room was my probably my least favorite since it wasn't interactive. The Dragon is the world's largest volumetric lighting installation with thousands of LED neurons creating a dreamlike space where light becomes art in constant motion. This was the coolest room! The Cave was made entirely of pink hydrangeas. At the Drawing Station, characters and creatures can be colored in on the paper provided and then spawn inside the portal and come to life to live in the ecosystem. I colored in a fish and this was so cool to see it come alive and swim. Next was jumping into the ball pond. Then, in Freedom, guests can control a robotic arm playing an electric cello. In Archetype, a colossal robot recreates masterpieces in sand. There were sand for guests to play with as well. The last exhibit was Music box. Nachum's Crown Kid's are immortalized as robots turning the mechanism to activate the music box representing the intricate connection between sound and perception, the boundaries between languages become non-existent. Mercer Labs transforms the museum experience across 36,000 sq ft with 15 experimental exhibition spaces, interactive encounters, and immersive installations. Maestros and the Machines is conceived and directed by artist Roy Nachum. This is a living, breathing dialogue between past and future, reimagining what classic art can be in a world where technology is a tool for the creative process. His work -- often incorporating Braille and the iconic imagery of a child wearing a gold crown -- invites audiences to reflect on themes of humility, equality, and interconnectedness. Nachum's work is rooted in human connection, communication, equality and diversity. I really liked the meaning behind Roy Nachum's art, the crown symbolizes the blinding nature of power, success, and desire. It suggests that in the constant pursuit of achievements, people often lose sight of their true, authentic values and "important things in life". Mercer Labs is similar in some ways to Arte Museum in terms of interactive encounters and immersive installations, but both are still worth visiting. I thought this place was pretty cool--beautiful, immersive art that's both fun and interactive, with plenty of great photo ops. Watching my dinosaur that I colored come to life was the highlight! That said, there's absolutely no explanation or context behind the installations. For example, there was a sound room with pillows that left me completely puzzled. The constant mix of flashing lights, dim lights, and sudden brightness also became overwhelming and even gave me a mild headache. Definitely a lot of stimulation! Visited Mercer Labs with fairly open expectations and would rate the experience about a 3/5 overall. If you've been to the teamLab exhibits in Tokyo, this place is more in line with Borderless than Planets, but it still can't quite hold a candle to either. That said, there are definitely some visually interesting moments throughout the exhibit. There's plenty of eye candy and opportunities for photos, and certain installations are fun to walk through and observe. The lighting, reflections, and use of space are clearly designed with aesthetics in mind, and it's easy to see why this would appeal to people looking for something visually engaging. However, the experience does feel a bit limited in depth. Once you've walked through and taken it all in, there isn't much incentive to linger or revisit. In my opinion, it very much feels like a one-and-done type of attraction rather than something you'd want to return to multiple times. For the price point, I did find myself wishing there was either more content or a stronger sense of immersion. Overall, it's an interesting stop if you're nearby or already planning to explore the area, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for it. Mercer's Lab: All flash, little substance. Went here on a date with my husband after being wowed by the photos online. As someone who loves art and tech, I expected something immersive and thought-provoking but it felt more confusing than creative. One example: there was a silent room where people were just lying on the floor staring at blue lights. No explanation, no context just vibes. The whole museum has 3 floors and a basement. Walkthrough and rooms are mostly blacked out with a lot of mirrors and screens. It took us 35 minutes to walk through. My husband paid around $100 for tickets, and we both left wondering what we just experienced. It's a one and done. I'm sorry for the 2 stars it's just not for us. If you want the museum art experience with the history then take yourself to MOMA, or the Whitney, or INTER. Husband - 1 star but 0 star even better Me - 2 stars, I did liked parts of it and saw the setup and decor to be instagram worthy. But for museum experience is not for me. read more

This place was so much fun. I wanted to find an interactive museum and a friend recommended it. The tickets were expensive but there were discounts online, and everything was so beautiful and interactive that it was totally worth it. The exhibit was absolutely mesmerizing, and there were so many chances to really interact with the art and become part of it. I don't want to give anything away so won't go into details. My only complaint was that I was asked to leave the second floor because I was backtracking since there was a room I thought I'd missed. Not being able to get everything you want out of a museum with such a high ticket price is a bummer. But when I went downstairs they were much nicer and told me how to get there. read more

I visited Mercer Labs for its exhibit Maestros and the Machines by Roy Nachum. From the website: Maestros and the Machines is a living, breathing dialogue between past and future, reimagining what classic art can be in a world where technology is a tool for the creative process. I do love immersive exhibitions (Artechouse, Meow Wolf), so I was interested to see what Mercer Labs created. It started with a floor to ceiling 360 projection of what looked like a trip through human artistic endeavors up to the present day and beyond. I thought this part was beautiful but a little slow and ponderous and could have benefitted from some narration or explanatory slides. And the music was not inspiring. There were a few hanging swings and some large circular sofas -- you need to sit down because portions can be rather disorienting when there are moving projections on the walls and floors. The exhibits themselves were interesting. We were required to wear shoe coverings and there a lot of mirrored floor to ceiling rooms with led lights. A theme in Machum's art is braille, as well as children wearing gold crowns. His work explores humility and equality. A little more explanation about what we were seeing would have given us more insight. I enjoyed when we were shown technology attempting to create art, like the huge robotic arm drawing in the sand. I have a Drift at home, which is like this -- a metal ball traces patterns in the sand. The robotic arm was creating intricate delicate patterns with the tip of its shovel, then erased it like it has having an artistic tantrum. My biggest disappointment was that I think we missed several exhibits. Took a wrong turn? Missed a floor? Because we unceremoniously arrived at the gift shop. And so I felt unsettled, confused, as if there were no closure, no aha moment of what this was supposed to feel like. Isn't that what art is supposed to feel like? But I feel that, in providing a final conclusion and helping us to process meaning is what divides the Maestrisfrom the Machines. read more

Featuring 15 rooms, Mercer Labs is truly unmatched. One of the main concepts throughout the exhibit is the idea that fame creates blindness. It is a powerful message that challenges visitors to look beyond the crown and question the perception of AI and reality. This theme is clearly present in every room. At one point, my friend asked one of the staff members about the meaning behind a particular piece, and she gave us a thoughtful breakdown that really added to the experience. Every staff member we encountered was really nice. My favorite part was probably watching my coloring come to life or the concept of seeing our wishes being sent off. Either way, I would highly recommend checking this place out whether you are into art, tech, or just looking for something cool to do in NYC. read more

Only one room had interaction which was a color or animal and they scan it and it will appear on screen. We didn't rush through, but the entire walk through took about 30 minutes which was just too short for the money I paid. Where do I begin, this immersive experience is phenomenal!! I first experienced Merced Labs in October 2024 for the night time Dark Matter experience and fell in love with this "museum." Now I am back in February 2025 to see the daytime experience. ***FYI-if you are sensitive to lights flashing or get dizzy easily, you may want to reconsider or just bypass some rooms. *** From the moment I entered, the staff was informative & friendly. There's always someone around to answer questions. As I sit down to place my shoe coverings, I enjoyed the ceiling art. Going in the largest immersive art room, I first sit in the center to view every angle and then I love to sit on the swing for a different perspective. We had no idea what to expect, but were really pleasantly surprised with the place and its exhibits. We had honestly never heard of it before, however my son, who is an Artist, knew it right away. We had purchased Reach International (RIO) Adventure Bucket List cards which are basically cards that you choose what you want to do based on time of year, time of day, budget, exertion level and so on. For the past 4 months, Mercer Labs had been popping up on my Instagram feed on a regular basis. We decided to take a look. The exhibit we saw was "Limitless" and on the day we were trying to go, the tickets available were the VIP tickets. The VIP tickets cost $70 compared to the $55 regular ticket. The tickets let us cut the line, but there wasn't a line when we went despite the regular tickets being sold out. (To be fair, we've definitely seen lines there when passing by before) The VIP tickets come with some postcards, a magnet, a keychain and a bag. They also provided two mochi ( $4 each) and a drink of your choice ($7 each) for free. Cost wise, it might cover the purchase. The drinks were fine, fairly refreshing. The mochi is what you'd expect. The staff was pretty frien The exhibit itself was interesting. A majority of it were light and sound shows. There was a cool interactive exhibit where you could draw something and have it scanned to appear on a screen. For the price, I don't know if it was worth it.
