My husband and I have been patient's of doctor Jason Wang's for years now. At first, I was skeptical but made an appointment. Doctor Wang is an oriental medical doctor with decades of experience. He has helped me decrease the number and severity of my migraines and back and neck pain. My husband goes in limping, barely able to walk, and walks out feeling brand new with a remarkable reduction in his pain. He has helped us both feel so much better after a Carr accident. I am not one who typically writes reviews on YELP, as I mostly read reviews of local businesses recommended by others. This is how I found Dr. Wang and Dr. Fan at the Chinese Acupuncture Center. In spite of hearing many speak of how much relief they found with acupuncture treatments, I was a bit nervous. My anxiety level was high, but so was my pain. I felt older than my 60 plus years. As an alternative to invasive back surgery or risky mood altering steroid injections, I decided to try a more traditional Asian approach. From the moment I entered the office, I felt like the doctors really wanted to help me gain relief from lower lumbar compression that left me unable to move without extreme discomfort. My tension eased as they worked with me. Seeing that I was at serious risk for Type-2 diabetes, Dr. Wang gave me sensible advice about lifestyle changes, exercise, diet, and strategies for gently decompressing nerves. He did not promise a magical cure, but he felt certain I could experience relief from the pain through acupuncture. Both doctors very gently worked on various inflamed nerves on my lower spine, hip and knee. Acupuncture, massage, and warm herbs brought much relief for the first time in years. As a result of seeing the doctors, I have begun to lose weight, walk with less pain, and experience more energy. Age related stiffness may be inevitable, but it does not have to be debilitating. After a month and a half of treatment, I must say I am pleasantly surprised to find I am relying less on a cane while experiencing an improved range of movement. A wonderful outcome. One of the lovely side effects of pregnancy is sciatica - severe nerve pain in my hip and side - and I got it during my third trimester after an easy and active time thus far. It was nearly unbearable, having to hold on to things to walk on my right side and crying out in pain to get out of bed. (And it came out of nowhere!) At a routine ultrasound appointment, my tech heard my complaints and immediately wrote down Dr. Wang's information. In fact she knew the number and address by heart because she's recommended SO many people to him over the years! She told me about how he's helped her with everything from migraines to sleep problems to even a disc rupture, in which she believes he *prevented* her from having to get major surgery. A little wary of acupuncture, I asked a million questions - will it hurt? Is it expensive? Does it work right away? etc. She told me how Dr. Wang doesn't make false promises but over time his work heals much faster than without. She told me that acupuncture hurts "10,000 times less than a toe stub" (um, wow). He accepts walk-ins and books out only a few days. And, she told me he takes insurance! Armed with this information (admittedly after a few Google searches on acupuncture), I called and made an appointment. Here is the brass tax: Big office building on Union; super easy to find; office is on ground floor. You check in with the receptionist (I'm gathering it's his wife?) and she sets you up in a private room. Everything is clean and simple. The amenities could be nicer - for example they use towels instead of blankets or hospital sheets, etc. - but the room is really comfortable. Assistant is super sweet and cute. She and Dr. Wang, after a brief discussion of your pain, help you to lay down. If I at 37 weeks pregnant can feel comfortable laying there, with needles in the bare body, ANYONE can! Haha. Speaking of the needles, my ultrasound tech was right - I didn't even feel them going in and it's totally fine. (I wore my normal clothes throughout the procedure, just pulling certain sections down.) Then, you just relax for an hour (and he doesn't cheat you on time!!) - listen to the silence, make plans in your head, take a nap. Next was the surprising bit to me. Apparently because of my sciatica and walking lopsided (well.. plus carrying a big ole baby), my hips had displaced and one leg was longer than the other. Dr. Wang then comes in and does 5 or so minutes of massage and pushing on your joints. It feels miraculous. He charged me only my co-pay and my insurance took care of the rest! Hallelujah. After only 2 visits, I highly, HIGHLY recommend Dr. Wang for sciatica (even for those like me who have never done it before!) or for whatever needs you may have. He has helped me immensely. I felt the difference the very next morning after appointment #1, and after appointment #2 just a few days later it started improving with great speed - I could literally feel my hips and legs walk back into place. Before my baby was born, I was walking completely normally with no pain. Thank you Dr. Wang and your team. This "professional" called me about an appointment that I wasn't informed about (referred by the VA and scheduled without my knowledge), and was completely disrespectful on the call. This person didn't mention where he was calling from and only said "so are you coming?" - I had to ask who this person was, and was then told about the appointment. After I was informed, I attempted to apologize for not being at the appointment and to reschedule, but this person just decided to hang up on me without any option to reschedule. I called back to confront this person...I've dealt with terrible front-office staff before, so I wanted to make sure I had an opportunity to reschedule as my consult for acupuncture was made back in August...come to find out, this was the actual acupuncturist! No reception staff, no courtesy or understanding about missed appointments, no respect for his patients. I informed my referring provider to never refer me to this "professional" again, and I'm certain there will be no further consults sent to this completely unprofessional acupuncturist, and I would advise anyone that is considering this "professional" to keep looking...I'm sure you'll find better. read more

I have suffered from chronic neck pain the last few years, and in one session, my pain levels went from a 10/10 to a 2/10. I still feel a bit stiff bu there isn't pain!!! It is INSANE! (I have done narcotics, chiropractic adjustments, graston therapy, etc) I am going to go in for a maintenance session to make sure this is as great as it seems, but its been about 3 weeks and everything is still good. I found this location because upstairs is where I go for my chiropractor visits. The owner of Chinese acupuncture center actually owns the entire building. My first session here was about an hour long. The owner treated my upper back with two cupping techniques that lasted maybe 5-10 minutes. He then began the procedure and applied 1-6 needles into my upper back as I explained to him where most of my discomfort and pain was coming from. He didn't apply the needle too far into my skin, maybe a few cm at most. Then he hooked up wires from a machine that would transmit a pulsating pulse to the individual needles. (Supposedly claim from the owner would relax the muscle tissues and loosen the kinks/knots). He was kind to ask if I needed to go up or down for the pulsating level depending on my pain tolerance. The process lasted maybe 30 mins with a massage thrown in. He massages your traps very aggressive. After the procedure was done. He applied tiger oil all over my back and put on ceramic wrap and told me to keep it on until I go to bed. The next couple days, I felt no changes in pain and discomfort. The overall experience was okay if you never been to an acupuncture place before. However, I noticed no difference in my muscles. Maybe it would be more effective if I continued to go. But for the price of $80 out of pocket I would suggest going to a massage parlor for better bang of your bucks. read more

I started with Dr. Wang when my doctor sent me for severe back pain. I had gone as far as I could with traditional medicine short of surgery, and nothing was helping. I had pain all the time and it was interfering with home life, work, everything. Not only did he take away my back pain, but I have been free of it for years and years since then, with only a minor relapse which he fixed easily. I was very, very skeptical of non-traditional medicine, so I can tell you there was no placebo effect going on with me!!! Since then he has helped me with arthritis in my hands and knees and many other problems, plus he has helped my husband and many friends I sent to him. One had been severely injured from a fall from a ladder and was living in constant pain, unable to sleep, to work, anything. He is now back to normal. One thing I would mention also is that when Dr Wang cannot help, he is honest and lets you know. He is not out to drain anyone's bank account; he is a sincere, caring, and immensely skilled healer. He also is flexible, and can adjust treatment if you have special needs. He also takes the time to listen and consider what you are telling him. This is not the "in and out" you get in your GP's office. The other thing many people worry about is the needles. I can tell you not to worry! They are so tiny and thin, you don't feel them, and in fact I often fall asleep during treatment because I feel so relaxed! In the last years of my mother's life I hired an acupuncturist where she was living (California, so not Dr Wang), and for the first few times we kept them out of her sight.....she never felt the needles, but her pain was reduced and she seemed much more relaxed and happy. Acupuncture, done by a skilled practitioner, can be a godsend to those of us with chronic pain....it's worth a trip to see Dr Wang. There are other acupuncturists practicing much closer to me, but he's the best, and worth the trip. read more

I am so grateful to Dr. Wang's Center. I have been treated for breathing issues, sciatica, neck and back issues and gout. An appt is for one hour! Incredible in this day and age of get the patient in and out for the most amount of money. Dr. Wang does not let me go until I am 100% better at that time. For example, I came in with breathing issue, I received spine adjustment, acupuncture, massage, heated vessel - I am not sure what that is called - it works, and Chinese herb patch. Or I came in with pain in my right leg and could not put full weight on it. I was treated with acupuncture, massage, spinal adjustment and I left there able to walk normal. A couple of months ago I developed gout in my left toe. I tried hyperbaric oxygen treatment and on the 3rd day went to Dr. Wang because the pain was so intense and I had to walk on my heel. I could not even bear to touch my toe, could not bend it and the swelling was spreading to half of my foot. I received acupuncture and a Chinese patch that within one hour I was pain free. Pain free and I could walk normally. He also suggested I take black cherry supplement. Dr. Wang and his wife are amazing doctors.
