The wait was longer than expected, and the service was below average, largely because the restaurant appeared busy and understaffed. There were other frustrated patrons having a similar negative experience waiting around as well. That said, the food was so delicious that I was able to overlook the frustrating pickup experience and still give Gloria's top marks. I honestly can't recall having better pupusas anywhere. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were full, and each dish felt homemade. I'm still thinking about it days later. A genuine word of warning: if Gloria's is your first stop in Staunton, you may not feel much motivation to try anywhere else for the rest of your trip. It sets the bar that high

Didn't get an opportunity to see the indoor section of the restaurant. The server was very friendly, but they were very busy and it did affect speed of service. In terms of beverages, I ordered horchata because I always order horchata. I have yet to meet a horchata I didn't like, and this was no exception. Sweet and delicious. I ordered birria tacos and a loroco pupusa. The birria was tasty and savory, as to be expected. Like most people, I dip my tacos in the broth because it's delicious. The loroco pupusa was really cheesy, which is a plus for me. All in all, this was a great place and I look forward to going back to try other items on their menu.

Chef Pat, where do I start. I have not been to the Caribbean as yet, but all I want to say is you…read morehave truly blown me away. After a very long hike in the morning, the wife and I decided to pick up something for lunch. And while looking for something new in the area, the wife decided to give this place a shot. We stopped by the place which is tucked in between some other warehouse stores, in the corner, not on the main road. We decided to order our food and Chef Pat was so kind and professional, he stopped by our car in the parking lot as we were struggling to find the place. The food we ordered is in the pictures, jerk chicken, Ackee & Saltfish, Mango Rum Cake, conch fritters, plantains and some beans and rice. We were running late, so the chef said they will deliver the food to our place. When the food was delivered to us, there was some miscommunication between what was ordered vs. delivered. However, when we called them, they apologized for the mistake and took care of it right away. After all this, I was, tbh, a little upset. And we sat down to open our delivery boxes since we were super hungry. As the lids opened, the aroma of the food filled the area. My frown turned into a smile right away. Now, I was getting excited to try the food, everything was packed very nicely for delivery, & was still nice and warm. Once we started tasting the dishes, I was floored. I have to say, by far, very very far, this is the best Caribbean food I have had in the US, thus far. The jerk chicken is cooked to perfection, I believe the chef mentioned they make it fresh everyday. The plantains were just so amazing, caramelized to perfection. The conch fritters were a perfect accompaniment with a sweet and spicy sauce. What truly left me speechless was the ackee and Saltfish, I cannot even begin to describe how good that dish was. I am a fan of Caribbean food now, if it's this good! To finish off, we split the Mango Rum Cake, where all we kept saying, after every bite was "yummm", as we kept closing our eyes to experience that perfect finishing touch to our meal. The food was cooked with a lot of skill, care and tons of love. The staff is coming up to speed and being trained, but the attitude of the chef is super professional and customer care oriented. A Hell Yeah 5 Star Review! Will keep going here, for sure. Wish you much success...!!!

Island Food To Go is an operation ran by Chef Pat, and you can really taste the authenticity in his food. You pre-order via calling the number or directly texting the number that is provided and then you can pick up the food curb-side, or you can have it delivered to your home. The jerk chicken was mind-blowingly good; the jerk marinade was so well-balanced and it had just the right amount of heat for my taste. The salt-fish and ackee dish was so delicious! Combine that with the red beans and rice and you have a comforting and delicious meal that is soul-satisfying. With each entree you have a choice of either white rice, yellow rice or red beans and rice. The mango rum cake we ordered was moist, buttery and perfectly baked. I can't wait to order their caribbean spice cake next time. There was a massive mix-up in terms of what was charged and what was actually delivered when the delivery driver delivered our food, but the business owner was quick to rectify the driver's mistake. They are still fairly new and fine-tuning their logistics, but with their level of professionalism and superior quality of food, I see this place becoming a big success. Can't wait to order my next meal from them!

It wasn't very busy there were two other tables sitting when we walked in. When we got to the counter a lady took our order, she was dressed nice so we assumed she was a manager. After writing everything down she asked us to sit and wait. We were waiting for what seemed like long enough that our food should be ready and the manager looking lady start walking our direction with a bag. I looked at her and she "this is mine, I'm a customer, I was just helping out. They're still working on your food." Then she left with her food. It was really weird. Since we ordered, two more tables had filled and the first two had eaten and left. One of the new tables received their food and we continued to wait for a bit. There were only two people working there and the last that was bringing food out and packing to go orders seemed busy so we didn't want to bother her. When I checked the time we had been sitting there for an hour. We asked about the order and were told that the empanadas took some time and they had a cook not show up and if I changed my order it would be faster. (I ordered the carne asada.) I was actually craving it so I declined to do so. She said it would be 20 more minutes for the food and we asked her to cancel the order. We had plans that evening that we were now pushing to be late for. So we sat there for an hour and never got to eat. We left feeling hungry and frustrated. I worked in restaurants for a long time, I understand that staffing can be tough some days and isn't always in your control. What you can control is telling people when they order that the food could take up to an hour and a half so they can make a decision on whether that works for them or not. That's a substantial amount of time to expect someone to wait. We also would have appreciated some sort of check in with information. What's taking so long, how much longer is it expected to be and so on. I hope to get to try the food of we're back in the area, but for this visit it was very disappointing.
