I had a really disappointing experience at Chipotle. The brown rice was undercooked and hard, making it unpleasant to eat. The chips were also not properly cooked -- they were tough and difficult to bite instead of crispy. This reflects poor food preparation and quality control. Definitely won't be coming back here anytime soon. Hopefully the restaurant gets a proper health inspection. My wife placed a mobile order because she was really hungry and wanted one of her usual meals. I went in to pick up the order, and everything seemed normal. When we got home, she sat down at the kitchen table, opened her sofritas bowl, and to our shock, there was a live cockroach crawling inside the food. This was absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable. Finding a cockroach in a meal raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and food safety practices at this location. We immediately lost our appetite and will not be returning. Another failed attempt at getting some food at this restaurant. It's should open at 10:45, we were by the front door at 10:40. I saw employees walking around inside but nobody cared that there are people waiting. By 11:00, three people had left; another 15 minutes went by and a group of people rattled the side door. Someone finally came out to say the restaurant would be closed for another hour! Unbelievable how little they pay any attention to the customers standing by the door in the heat; a simple hand written sign taped to the door would have been great. She looked at me with a quizzical stare. She moved down to the check out. I moved with her. I asked politely more than once. She still didn't understand. So an English speaking kitchen person came out to help me. I asked again if there peppers were hot. She said not too much. But she said I had to go back in line where I just was . Anyway, the manager came out. He accused me of being disrespectful. I asked if he woukd help me? He said "NO." There were only about three employees working, and instead of trying to keep things moving or cleaning up, they were just standing around chatting. They were out of ice. No fajitas. No white rice. When I ordered online before, my bowl was literally a quarter of what it should've been. For the price you pay, that's unacceptable. I've given the Capitola Chipotle multiple chances, but my family will never return. The store is consistently dirty, and it's always a struggle to get a standard portion of protein--something that should be basic and reliable. On my most recent visit, I received just four tiny pieces of chicken on one of my tacos. When I asked about it, the "manager", James Scarpa, told me they couldn't add more or they'd get fired. I laughed, thinking it was a joke, but he doubled down and claimed that Chipotle monitors the cameras and has recently fired employees for giving out "too much" chicken. His solution? He used his fingers to move one piece of chicken from my other tacos and now I had a whopping five small pieces of chicken along with whatever he collected on his fingers. If this is truly how Chipotle corporate operates, it's incredibly petty and reflects poorly on the brand. Holding staff hostage over a few extra pieces of protein is not only demoralizing for employees but frustrating for loyal customers. But that might explain the sub 2 star rating. On the other hand, the Santa Cruz Chipotle is consistently clean and generous with portions. If you're in the area, I highly recommend going there instead. read more

I have been to this location many times and simply go back for the food and not for anything else. Most times when I walk in the door I am met by I very dirty dining room floor. Food remnants on every table as well as the floor. One time there was a serving glove on the floor in front of the register and on the dining room floor and on this same occasion there was a broom and dustpan on a handle laying flat on the floor in the center of the dining room floor. I alerted the staff and they stated they are not allowed to leave from behind the counter and can only at certain times which allows for the lobby to get dirty really quick during their peak times. And in mentioning that they couldn't leave from the counter, the times that they could leave were completely out of balance to how often they should have been out making sure the dining room floor was at least presentable and tables cleaned and ready for the next to sit at and enjoy their meal. I actually called the health department on them and received a call back saying a health official would visit the place and assess the situation. Well that health official called me back and said the day she visited wasn't as bad as what I had previously experienced but she said the kitchen passed preliminary inspection and the floor was questionable. I forget the entire rundown but she made it sound like she was more in place for the kitchen and food prep end of things not a dirty or unmaintained dining room floor. As for the staff and food, it's seems Chipotle as a whole does not train their employees how to properly make burritos. Time and time again whenever they put the red hot sauce (which is naturally runny) they just dump the scoop in one spot instead of the length of the burrito. This makes for an unpleasurable experience when I take a bite and get a mouthful or red sauce all in one bit and not much else. They do not spread the items out evenly so you overall in each bite get the same product. (Ie...one bite you get all rice and the next you get only beans and the next you only get cheese....so on and so forth), It's really never a mixture of it all which is what a burrito is suppose to be. Anyway, this franchise is filthy and I do not recommend this place if you like clean facilities and good well put together food and to be served by friendly knowledgeable staff. read more

That was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a chipotle. The food was extremely salty and somewhat dry, which is understandable because it was late in the evening when we got it around 9 PM however it seems to me that they ought to have been prepared for cooking meals that late into the evening in such a way that quality was maintained. if they are incapable of providing a consistent level of quality then they shouldn't stay open that late at night and also just prepare for the contingency that they're gonna probably have more food at the end of the day then they would if in another situation. and just get used to the fact that that's part of the cost of running a business even though that doesn't directly benefit share holders. Tonight at 6:44 I ordered a bowl and asked that the carnitas be measured. It he girl refuses! She said if I wanted more meat, which was only 2 ounces it would be extra! I said remake the bowl. Sad experience at this location. To start the quesadilla machine was broken. Apparently you need a machine to make a quesadilla correctly. Based on all the complaints about this location, we were concerned. We visited at around 8pm on Tuesday July 18. The customer tables and serving counters were clean, though the trash can near the door was full. Two people were working behind the counter, with another two visible in the back. The line moved a bit slower than when five people work the counter, but the wait was acceptable. The food was 100% up to Chipotle standards. One of the kitchen workers refilled four bins while we waited and ordered. Both of the counter workers were courteous and competent. For us, this was a great return to Chipotle, our first visit since the pandemic started. Happy customer. read more

I can see why this location gets 2-stars along with bad reviews. My granddaughter was visiting from Hawaii (No Chipotle's there) and heard wonderful things about Chipotle. I told her that the food was great and the bowls were good size. She ordered via DoorDash and when the bowl arrived, it was 1/4 the size of their normal size. I always order the veggie bowls (same as what she ordered) and it had hardly any ingredients in the bowl. The lettuce didn't even come to the top of the bowl! And trying to contact the store, is impossible-you can't get through. Very disappointed in Chipotle. I do not recommend this location at all. read more

They are ALWAYS out of multiple items, the place was a mess both in the dining room and behind the counter, and no one seems to care. Tonight the line was 10+ people deep and only one person seemed to work at a normal human pace. One guy was stone out of his mind, moving super slow motion, and put probably 2 cups of sour cream on the burrito bowl of the guy in front of me. And was just today.
