There are many things I do not understand in life. I do not understand why there is a Kim Kardashian. I have no clue why Justin Bieber is a thing. It baffles me that only one MLB division uses the designated hitter. Most of all, though, I am flummoxed why Chipotle is so darn popular. I am an optimist and I keep trying Chipotle thinking "I'll really like it this time! I'll like it just as much as everyone else does!" But I always come away disappointed. I have tried many different things on their menu, too, hoping this will be The One. Sadly, it never happens. You cannot drive by Chipotle in Lawrence without seeing a line. Like a serious line inside the store. People will scrounge for a parking spot and stand in line to get this food and I do not understand. At best, the food is okay. There is nothing outstanding or WOW about this place. I've had much better food at a strip mall dive. For my personal preferences, Chipotle is just uninspired. I like the rice bowls and the burritos but there is nothing memorable or outstanding. One time I was served a burrito that was way to spicy for me. I mentioned to the server and he said, "It shouldn't be spicy. We fixed it like you ordered." That was it. No offers to fix or change. The staff is friendly enough but they make you feel like a number. There seems to be very little personal connection or genuineness. The restaurant is clean and the ingredients are fresh. There is ample parking and this restaurant is easy access. The prices are reasonable for the quality. No complaints there. I guess this restaurant cannot get around having that cookie-cutter franchise feel. Chipotle just does not do it for me. read more

Service was great but the food was the worse we have ever had at this location. Being seniors on a fixed income we don't eat out as often and for two of us the cost of $28.00 for bad food is pretty maddening. The chicken in burrito bowl and the chicken burrito tasted very, very old and it was full of bone and fat. The guacamole was horrible as well with a watery texture and no salt or flavor whatsoever and then they gave us a bag of chips that only had about 10 to 12 chips in it. We ordered some food for delivery back in May 2020. The queso container lid wasn't put on right, and it spilled all over the bag. Plus, the queso was just plain bad. My kids' quesadillas were barely cooked. The cheese wasn't melted at all. I called to complain, and the shift manager said he would refund us for the queso, but he never did. I'm not writing to complain about chipotle as a restaurant, but about a menu item that they have. I have enjoyed all the food that I have ate at any chipotle until today when I tried there, much advertised, Queso Blanco. I am not a fan of powdered cheese and that is exactly what it taste like. Not only did it taste like powdered cheese, but it didn't pour smooth out of the container, it poured in clumps, but it looked as if it should have poured out smooth. This has been the only time I was dissatisfied with a menu choice at any chipotle. It wasn't expensive, but when I tasted it I felt as if I got took for at least $20 and I only paid a little over $4!! I won't order this again and will stick with my usually bowl and burrito. I will continue to make my own cheese sauce or go to Salty Iguana and get it from them as I've been doing for years!! read more

I disagree with the assertion that you have to go to Kansas City to find a decent Chipotle. Have been visiting this store since they opened, and while they had some issues at first, it seems to have smoothed out. Portions are the normal size you'd get at any Chipotle, and the staff seem to have gotten their routine under control. The only thing I dislike about this Chipotle is the parking lot- can be impossible to park during most parts of the day. read more

This particular Chipotle is new and has had a 1 out of 6 success rate at providing decent portions. In comparison to other Chipotles this is the worst one in 39 mile radius. The portion sizes are laughable and the staff seems at times completely lost. They have been open for at least a month or two now and at this point the staff should be comfortable in their positions by this point, but it seems, that this is still a huge work in progress. My girlfriend and i have gone to this one 3 times in the last month and a half crossing fingers that things would get better. and during the last visit they got one burrito to the proportions we are used to from every other Chipotle we have gone to and we had to ask them to add more in order for this to be the case. and as an added bonus they seem to have a hearing issue as well ... when i order mild salsa with my chips i would prefer not to be served blistering hot blood pressure destruction in a cup .. yeah .. they gave me hot sauce. long story short.. go to Kansas city if you want a Chipotle that can make a burrito correctly. read more

I will not return as yesterday I was charged more money for a "double" bowl because I asked for "a little more" when I was served a very small amount of "each" item I requested. At checkout i was charged over $11.00 and when I mentioned to the cashier that the price had gone up he simply responded "didn't you order a "double?"" to which I replied "I did not". (This is not the first time the servers did not explain I would be charged more money for a choice I was making) - Since there was a long line behind me I paid the xtra amount and the cashier breathed a sigh of relief - no explanation offered at all - this was the first I have heard of a "double". The portion size they want to serve you for $9 is very small indeed, certainly not worth the money - I won't pay $9 for that and was charged over $11 because I "asked the server for a little more" in my bowl. I eat chipotle minimum twice a week for the past 5 years and this is the worst one I've ever been to thus far. Portions may be exactly what they are "suppose" to be but they are not remotely close to the portions of normal chipotles anywhere. Steak was a bloody "medium rare" and it was as chewy a rubber tire. I am a big Chipotle fan, I go there all the time, and have been to them all over the U.S. and that was by far the smallest portions I have ever seen there. I got double meat and still didn't come close to filling up the bowl. Same with my brother across the table. Much smaller portion sizes than any other Chipotle I have ever seen. read more

I have always had good experiences at this chipotle. I travel between Lawrence and Orlando, compared to the Chipotle in Orlando, this one is really great. I have not tried the others in Lawrence, they could be better. But I do know that every one I have tried in Florida is awful with horrible service.
