Every time I drive past this store there is a line in the drive-thru. A long line and I know why. It is simply delicious. Raising Cane's is one of my guilty pleasures. I don't go here often even though it is in walking distance of my house but when I do, I make myself so happy. Cane's has a limited menu. Basically they have chicken fingers, a sandwich, cole slaw, french fries and bread. You can get the items in different sizes and they have always been great about substitutions. Not fond of cole slaw so they always spot me extra Cane sauce and they don't make it a big deal. Cane's food is never frozen but prepared fresh and I can believe that because of the taste. There is nothing skimpy about the taste of their food. The only thing I don't understand about Canes is their reward or loyalty system. I've used my card there for a decade without the single reward. No one can seem to explain it to me, either. It will remain a mystery. lol This establishment is always busy. Very busy. A busy restaurant days a lot about a restaurant, though. The lady at the counter was nice enough to upgrade the drink which I appreciated. The chicken was fresh I literally had to eat 2-3 mins for the he chicken to be cool enough to eat. On a Sunday when chic-fil-a is closed and you don't want over seasoned fries or super buttery toast you come here. The crinkle-cut fries are lightly salted, the chicken is made to order, the house sauce has the right amount of flavor, the toast is thick and could be toasted a little more but still great! I chose lemonade as my drink and it's split down the middle sweet and sour makes it very refreshing. I was greeted when I walked in the door. As always I washed my hands after ordering, the bathroom was clean and very modern...almost futuristic! Everything was up when I was finished and still piping hot after I chose a place to sit and enjoy it. Great place for a quick and filling meal and family friendly. However, in this instance I was patient, happy and content knowing they were actually making the tenders from scratch not frying frozen ones. Where else can you find that in a fast-food chain (except maybe across the street at Slim Chickens, which is also becoming a fast-growing chain)? Be forewarned, I've been to more than 60 Cane's across. Cane's is one of the top fast food chicken tenders in the country. The chain is fairly new here, but has been around in the South for a while (they are popping up all over KC). As long as you dig chicken tenders this spot will become a standby. What's so good about Canes? And, why is it so much better than places like KFC, Church's and Popeyes? Canes dishes out hand breaded chicken tenders, average fries and yummy sweet tea/lemonade. They've mastered consistency. Whether you arrive at 11 am or 11pm the tenders always taste the same and no matter what day it is the lemonade is hand squeezed daily. Fresh, quality white meat is always the norm. There's no gristle, dark meat or lukewarm chicken. We come for value, flavor and good service - and get it every time. A few things to remember about Cane's (from a Cane's expert): *The fresh squeezed lemonade is hand squeezed daily and brings a perfect blend or lemon/sugar cane and that favorite shaved ice. OK, I consider myself a fairly kind person and I'm a fair woman. I understand that bad days happen, sometimes we wake up on the wrong side of the bed or just some days things just never go the way we plan and I usually understand it. But then there are times when you have to address issues that just cannot be overlooked as a simple mistake. Now I have been to raising canes a few times. During the pandemic they were one of the essential places that were open when many restaurants were closed and because of this they received A good review from me in the past. And this alone was the reason I decided to stop in several days ago. My complaint is not with the food itself, my complaint is with dishonesty. When I placed my order through the drive-through, I ordered a three finger combo with a sweet tea. The order came to seven dollars and some change. I get around to the window to pay and what bothered me more than anything was the girl who took my debit card failed to say the amount that I was being charged she just took the card, which is usually a red flag . Now I do have one fault, and that was I didn't look at the receipt when she gave it to me but in the next few minutes that's really not necessary because she handed me 4 drinks and I immediately said "whoa, I didn't order this" and she bluntly said "well what did you order? " And I said a three finger combo with a sweet tea. Apparently the guy who took my order at the speaker thought that I said 3 finger combo's with sweet tea. I immediately informed her that I only ordered one three finger combo and a sweet tea and that I needed to be refunded the money that they charged me which was $27.33. Immediately she walks away from the window and speaks with her coworkers. A few minutes later a light-skinned black guy comes to the window and I guess he's the manager he asked for the receipt that she had given me . I gave him the receipt he did some work on the register and then he tells me that he only charged me for the three finger combo and that he refunded me the $19.95 that I was overcharged. And I'm thinking OK everything's cool. But it's been a week and two days since I've been to raising canes and I checked my bank account today and saw that the refund was never given. They were paid the whole $27.33. So it looks like I will have to go to war with raising canes to get the money that was taken strictly due to their fault and because of this I will no longer give them my business. It has nothing to do with the food. the food has always been good and like I said I'm pretty understanding when mistakes are made but when I see the mistakes are not corrected, it says a lot about the standards and honesty of those the establishment hired to represent them.... So it looks as though I will be "raising Cane "until I get my money back!!!! read more

Fantastic helpful friendly staff that are serving up some great fast food very quickly at a good price

Canes is a great addition to the fast food scene in Lawrence for chicken lovers. Their "never frozen" chicken strips are moist and large, the Texas toast is toasted on the outside and so soft on the inside and the sweet-tart lemonade is the perfect way to offset the pepper dipping sauce. As some other reviewers have noted, they do one thing--chicken strips-- and do they well. You can get combos of 3,4 or 6 fingers with sides and a drink or a chicken strip sandwich with sides and a drink. You can also get additional strips and substitute the sides to create your perfect chicken meal. Staff were friendly, even though they were being bombarded by many eager patrons. The space is also clean and decorated to celebrate local high schools and KU. I will be a regular for sure. read more

To my disappointment I was unfortunately not too impressed with Canes. It could have been due to the fact I had such HIGH expectations however for my first time going wasnt too impressed. The service was nice and friendly. The chicken however in size wise was pretty measly, it did have some nice juiciness and tenderness too it and tasted even better dipped in the cane sauce but that was about it. Ive had similar fried chicken from grocery stores or just like from your basic restaurant. It was still good chicken compared to other fast food joints but still I was as impressed as I hoped to be :( The "toast" was like bread not really crispy enough and the fries were so SOGGY it just really was a let down unfortunately because I had been looking forward to trying out Canes for so long. The lady would not take the substitutions in our order that we've always ordered at this Cane's and others without any issues. I was so looking forward to trying this place! I was a bit disappointed. I will say that the restaurant is very clean and the staff courteous and efficient, so bravo to them on that (especially during opening week)! The chicken is... Well, bland. The strips are very juicy and there is a lot of chicken, but the batter is flavorless. The fries were also bland. The coleslaw was ok, a bit too much mayonnaise for me, but still ok. I probably won't go back unless someone invites me. I didn't hate it, but for me it wasn't worth the price. If you only serve one thing, chicken strips, I would expect them to be "out of this world" delicious. These unfortunately were not. I think the one thing I would have to say to management is that the music in the lobby is way too loud. Like hard to have a conversation loud. I wish them well, but this will be tough with Popeyes opening across the street! read more

She was very rude had no manners. She didn't even talk to me when I talked to her. When I said thank you she just closed the window in my face. She asked me if I wanted ketchup, I said yes please and then she didn't even give me any. I worked fast food for a little while and being said someones main job working fast food is to be polite and make sure your customers feel welcomed and she did not make me or my family feel that way. Delicious!!! My brother and I split the 6 piece chicken finger meal with the fries and coleslaw ($10) and it was plenty of food. We each got our own lemonade which the cashier said was made fresh daily. The chicken fingers are batterer to perfection and aren't greasy at all. Had a good meal. The customer service was excellent. I was checked in on several times throughout my meal. The manager came by as well. I would have loved to give it four stars, but I do have one complaint. I ordered a 1/2 tea & 1/2 lemonade. When I went to get a refill, they told me I'd have to pay for another lemonade.
