We have wanted to come here on trips to visit our daughter at KU for the past 3 years but never made it until today. To say our expectations were met and then some is an understatement. Everything we had was 10/10. Shrimp Po Boy sandwiches were full of shrimp, fresh veggies and great sauce. The bread made it perfect. Hush puppies were outstanding and huge. Had a dozen for the table and couldn't finish them. They were sweet and had a nice amount of corn had a little Cajun kick as well. Cole slaw was crazy good (really nice fresh veggie mix and not too mayo-y), red beans and rice (with added andouille sausage for just a buck extra) was off the charts good (it's one of my favorite sides and this was far and away the best I've ever had). I don't like any poutine but the kids who enjoy it really liked theirs (a side that was enough for 3). Friendly staff and quick service and a cool vibe for the place. Order the shrimp po'boy and gumbo. For the price I paid I thought it was a bit too expensive for the amount of food you get. You don't get a side or drink for what they charge. Really enjoyed eating here. Had family in town and they really wanted to try this place. We got there right when it opened on a Tuesday and by 11:30 there was a couple people there. I tried the muffaletta quarter which was really good! The focaccia was nice and crunchy and there was a decent amount of meat involved. Also tried they're hush puppies which is fried cornbread (it had corn and onion inside). I enjoyed and they were very decent sized. The small option would be good for one person but I was sharing. The staff was very kind and were constantly checking in on you, cleaning up, and taking empty plates back. It's really well decorated too! They had some good sounding desserts I was unable to try this time around but I do plan on coming back to try them out! read more

I was stuck out in Lawrence all day and had to find a place to eat. I found this wonderful little restaurant that offered so many things on the menu that I love. Unfortunately, I wasn't very hungry so I stuck with two sides. They were a meal in itself! I couldn't finish the poutine after the thick gumbo. I wish I had enough room to try their deviled eggs. We enjoyed dinner here before heading to the Lied Center for a show. We were visiting from Kansas City. My wife and I ordered the half Muffuletta sandwich. It was lovely. It was a bit thicker and saltier than the original from Central Grocery in New Orleans. It was nice. We also had the Cajun Gumbo. It was pretty tasty. The place is mostly self service. They give you a number for the table. They bring your food to the table, but that's it. You will get your own drinks, silverware and condiments from various stations around the restaurant. Overall really solid. Grilled Chicken Po'Boy was solid, couldve used a bigger piece of chicken that covered all the bread, but it's a really solid price. Also love the sauce bar that i can dose out as i please. The fries were good, enjoyed them with the po'boy sauce. Deviled egg was a 1/2 a Deviled egg which bugged me based on semantics, dont say it's "an egg" when it's half of one. We decided to visit Terrebonne at their new location and we weren't disappointed. The new location has a large indoor dining space and even seating outside. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. There is also a sauce station so you can add hot sauce, ranch, honey mustard, and even their Po'Boy sauce. The staff were all friendly. They have quite a few beers on tap and even coffee. I went with a seltzer. Food wise we ordered a fried shrimp Po'Boy, hush puppies, and fries. First, the portions are generous. The hush puppies are huge. We debated ordering the small-3 to an order or the larger 6 piece, but stuck with the smaller size and were happy about that decision. They have real pieces of corn in them and they pair great with some hot sauce. The order of fries was also quite large, definitely shareable. They have a few different options but we stuck with just regular fries with Cajun seasoning. They were golden, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. The shrimp Po'Boy was also good. You get about 8 pieces of shrimp per sandwich so it's not huge but it's good sized. The lettuce and tomatoes were super fresh. And the baguette was lightly toasted and buttery. I have been eating Terrebonne since they opened on Vermont, even through covid when they only offered carry out! This place is truly a piece of the south in the Midwest and I am SO GLAD the owner chose Kansas to set up shop. I have NEVER had a bad meal from here and my taste buds have had the pleasure to experience the fried chicken po boy, fried shrimp po boy, Philly cheesesteak, Cajun Cuban, turkey club, deviled eggs, lemon crème bars, but the dish that keeps me coming back is the Jambalaya! The jambalaya comes with two huge spicy hush puppies and is jam packed with big pieces of shrimp, chicken, ham and andouille sausage over a bed of white rice. I have had this dish over 75x and I kid you not it taste even better every time!!! All of the flavor that is packed into this bowl makes my mouth water just typing about it. It is the perfect way to warm up during these cold winter months. I truly feel horrible for not posting this review years ago, but late is better than never! They just extended their hours to be open later and I truly believe you will not be disappointed with anything you choose. Terrebonne's consistency is unmatched and so are the prices. Imma be real honest with you folx, this did not live up to the hype. I selected the grilled shrimp po' boy and a side of the tried and true red beans and rice (Funny G. knows what I'm talking about). People, the sandwich was fine. It didn't knock my sox off let alone my shoes but I was led to believe these po' boys are packing or zomething. I urge you to up your bread game. I ain't got no patience for all these restaurants that give ya the plain white bread and then throw in the metaphorical paper towel. Red B & R played it so straight I thought they were gonna get married at 23 and adopt a golden retriever. Service was pretty freakin friendly and my food was ready with the zuickness but during my deliberation on a side dish the cashier started talking to the other cashier and I was all like dang if I picked a side right now you might not catch it and that would be lost revenue. Beautiful space with great high quality food and good service. I got the classic fried shrimp Po boy ($9). It was delicious, fresh and not overly greasy for a fried food. The bread was perfect, had a great crunch to it without being too hard or thick. They have a station with a ton of sauces, hot sauces, mustard and ketchup. Small but good beer selection, a ton of voodoo chips options and deserts. The small front patio faces Mass and they have public wifi. Prices are really reasonable for the portion and quality you get. This place is different than your standard restaurant in Lawrence. The flavors are very unique and very good. You order at the counter, they give you a number, and then bring your meal out to you. I had the Muffaletta. Some 'muff bread is too hard to eat. Some use too much olive mix. This was dang near perfect. No flavors overpower any other. Just wonderful. Even though I'm not REALLY a dessert person, I also had the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding. It was SOOO good. Just wonderfully dense and the perfect amount of sweet. My friend had the gumbo and the loaded tots. I sample both and they were both excellent. I would go back anytime! read more

This is an interesting local place on Mass street. We visited on a week day and it was raining very heavy with a short walk. The food was good. The hushpuppies were amazing, and the red beans and rice with sausage was delicious. The fish & chips was missing some needed seasoning, but good. You order at the counter (not my favorite, but was efficient). It's not a fancy place and there were quite a few loud children running around, but expected in this type of restaurant which is not full service. It did get very busy around noon. Terrebonne is one of our favorite casual eating places in Lawrence. In the summer we love the po'boys. But in the colder months we usually choose the gumbo or jambalaya. Last night we stopped in for jambalaya. As always it was great, with just the right amount of heat and generous portions of shrimp and chicken. It comes with two hush puppies, which are some of the best I've had. We tried the poutine fries for the first time and loved them. They came out hot and the amount of gravy and cheese was just right, not overwhelming. My husband decided to skip the jambalaya this time and tried their fish and chips special with a side of cole slaw. He enjoyed it all. The filets were thick and fried up really crisp. This place never disappoints. Always good quality and the service is friendly. I especially love their new location on Mass St. Spacious with plenty of seating and entrances in both the back and front so you can park in the rear parking lot. read more

Wow ! The new space is awesome. Plenty of space to dine in, but as always people's love their food and it was busy when we dined at 2:30p for a late lunch. In case you were wondering there are tables for two, four and even six! We 'might' miss the other space for the outdoor aspect as we generally had our golden with us. If you've been to 'Nawlins you'll recognize a menu of Po' boy, Muffaletta sandwiches, Gumbo, Red Beans & Rice to name a few of the usuals, but also plenty of other menu items. I don't usually like fried and sandwiches, but I always get their Fried Shrimp Po' boy and my husband generally gets a bowl of gumbo with a side of red beans & rice. We even got to try the Fried Okra and they give you a lot! I forgot to take pics, but I'm sure there are plenty. Oh yes, the tables by the window are great for Mass Street people watching. This was my second visit and things just did not go as well as the first. I am probably partially to blame for that. My normal policy on Italian Beef sandwiches is never to order one anywhere south of Chicago. So WHY would I try one at a place that specializes in more Cajun influenced fare? Anyway, it was terrible. Dry, thick cut beef, wayyyy too acid giardiniera. Also got their jambalaya to take home for later and it was average at best. Very watery, spice was very timid. Generous amounts of chicken, shrimp and sausage, but overall not great. The only thing making this a 3 star review was the strength of the hush puppies. They were exceptional by any standard. Not done with these guys yet as I enjoyed my PoBoy last trip. But definitely learning what NOT to order. read more
