I stumbled across Hunter. The course is in excellent shape. The fairways were maybe a little soft from the rain but thick and lush. Some of the greens were faster than others, but that's golf. Unfortunately, I played about as poorly as I have in the year since I took the game back up, but I can hardly blame that on Hunter. Westwoods is consistently one of the most crowded courses in central CT. Perhaps it is the…read moremunicipal greens fees or the ease of the course but I've never played 9 holes in 2 hours or less. The course is in okay shape, nothing to write home about. It seems pretty obvious to me that they did not have enough land to make an 18 hole course but more than enough for 9 so they just made the course 70% par 3's. As such the 18 hole course has a par in the low 60's. Despite the low par I suppose it is target golf. The course is somewhat tight on some of the longer holes. If your irons are off do not expect to score here. The management is pretty friendly--recently I struck up a conversation with the pro while paying and later on in the day he stopped to give me a few free pointers. If you're in a hurry then skip it but if you haven't played in a while and want to feel good about your score then it's not a bad option. Pretty cheap too!

The course is in fantastic shape and in a picturesque setting. The autumn foliage was still present and many holes were simply breathtaking. Oh but those hills! I am 64 and in good shape. I always walk and push a cart. Next time I will definitely rent an electric cart! I was nearly exhausted by the end of 18. The woman in the golf shop was super friendly and super helpful! A true people person whose love for golf and the course were obvious. One of my favorite courses in Connecticut. I will definitely be back!

We went to lunch with two friends, one of whom is a 100 y/o WWII veteran. Dave, our server, was especially respectful when, after noticing the Veteran's hat, thanked him for his service. That meant a lot. I'd also like to mention Amy, who was very accommodating. Keith, the manager, was, as always emplary... he took the time to come to our table and speak to us. That also meant a lot! I have to say that the fish and chips are the best I have ever tasted. Crispy fish outside and tender inside... also, the fries were SO good! Crispy and seasoned just right... I say the fish and chips would make Gordon Ramsay proud! I highly recommend this establishment!

It made the experience so much more fun, and we learned along the way. Very intimate setting with only two greens. You could rent out one for up to six players for $50 each hour, or both for a bigger party! They have many options - you could strictly do the driving range or choose from courses with varying difficulty levels. After each swing, it lets you know your stats. They also have clubs available if you do not have your own. With two televisions inside, you do not have to worry about missing any of the sports games either. I also loved that it was bring your own food and drink. There are so many great restaurants within walking distance that offer take out - we ordered some apps from 75 Center (I recommend).

This was one of the smaller indoor golf facilities I've been to, but it felt cozier and less intimidating because of it. My fiancé and I are beginners, and his mom plays more often, but we all had fun! There were plenty of different courses to pick from that are fitting for a range of skill levels. I really appreciated that they provided takeout menus from nearby restaurants and provided a nice area where you can spread out some food, sit, and relax. We were able to rent their golf clubs for free, and the hour and a half rental time was perfect for the 3 of us. This was a great winter activity, and we'll be keeping it in mind for the summer too if we want to stay out of the heat!

They have an interesting concept - 8 bays for state-of-the-art video golf, and a sports bar vibe with pretty good food, Happy Hour prices, and big screen TVs all over. We took advantage of their Happy Hour when we saw all of their appetizers and draft beers were half price after 4 pm. Our two Shocktops were a paltry $3.50 apiece for a very generous pour. We went with ten chicken wings (Garlic Parmesan) for $7.48 and a cheese quesadilla with chicken for $7.98. Where everyone looked out for one another, and treated eachother well. This is certainly no longer the vibe, the staff is very unfriendly and lack common golf knowledge. Every morning my email is getting blasted with a new set of niche rules, everywhere you look, there is a sign explaining new rules and things to consider. This is a community of people who have been golfing here for 15+ years, it would be nice to get treated as such, rather than having every move watched and reviewed by these new corporate policies.
