My "stay cation" week of golf and diners brought me to Harwinton and Fairview Farm. The moment you drive onto the property, you know you are in for a treat. The course is in fantastic shape and in a picturesque setting. The autumn foliage was still present and many holes were simply breathtaking. Oh but those hills! I am 64 and in good shape. I always walk and push a cart. Next time I will definitely rent an electric cart! I was nearly exhausted by the end of 18. The woman in the golf shop was super friendly and super helpful! A true people person whose love for golf and the course were obvious. One of my favorite courses in Connecticut. I will definitely be back! read more

This is an excellent place for either restaurant dining or a banquet (we've been to several). The food is excellent and the ambience is extremely pleasant. We went to lunch with two friends, one of whom is a 100 y/o WWII veteran. Dave, our server, was especially respectful when, after noticing the Veteran's hat, thanked him for his service. That meant a lot. I'd also like to mention Amy, who was very accommodating. Keith, the manager, was, as always emplary... he took the time to come to our table and speak to us. That also meant a lot! I have to say that the fish and chips are the best I have ever tasted. Crispy fish outside and tender inside... also, the fries were SO good! Crispy and seasoned just right... Played here once before in 2021 with the wife, dad and uncle. It was one of the worst rounds of my life where I could not hit the broad side of a barn, and ironically the course had a barn. Thankfully I got my swing back for a tourney we attended here in June. It was cold and rainy so we got a nice sweatshirt from the pro shop...not cheap but seemed worth it at the time. After three holes the sun came out and the sweatshirt got retired. Such is life... Course is very green and well maintained throughout. Nice hilly layout. Nothing boring to speak of. Favorite course in this area and beyond. I am "sticking some pigs" on the greens with my approach irons today. Much better overall play at day's end. Phew... BUFFET DINNER in the clubhouse not noteworthy but plenty edible. Decent beef, chicken, breaded fish (better meat option of the group), rolls, salad, veggies, chocolate mousse type cake. read more

After a round of 19 with my family we enjoyed a late lunch here! I had the Fairview Burger with sweet potato fries. Highly enjoyed the golf and the food hit the spot after a great morning. The golf course was in excellent shape and the waitress that served us our food afterwards was very cordial and accommodating. The food was tasty. One patron out of our group didn't get his food until at least 25 minutes after all of the others did. I want to emphasize that that was not the waitresses fault. What was also not good about our experience was when Keith came to our table and asked us to "keep it down" regarding the conversations among the 15 or so golfers. Mind you that we were sitting OUTSIDE on the deck/patio and nowhere near any other patrons and/or golfers. A 2nd and then 3rd waitress came by at various times to further tell us to "be quieter". Needless to say, we are considering changing our annual golf outing to a more customer/patron friendly one! read more

Played Fairview Farm Golf Course after hearing good things about it word of mouth and I can tell you that it didn't disappoint. Course conditions were excellent. Tee boxes were very nice and fairways and greens were excellent. The course is very lush and well kept. I wouldn't say the course is excessively long from the white tees (about 6200) but requires accuracy with lots of tee lined fairways. Just keep the ball in play. I though let the greens were tricky with lots of undulation but very true and putts rolled beautifully. Their golf carts are electric, comfortable and have a screen with GPS. After the round we sat outside overlooking the ninth green and had a drink and a bite to eat. The menu looked great with lots of great choices. I opted for the chicken cesar salad which was excellent. Would definitely recommend this course and looking forward to playing it again in the future! read more

Hosted a baby shower for our daughter at Fairview Farm. Working with Keith in the planning was delightful. He is so organized and pleasant. From beginning to the day of the event, every step of the way he was always available to answer any question that I had. All of the staff is so accommodating. For 20+ years our roving golf league has played and dined at the course 3-4 times a year. We have enjoyed the course and been very respectful. Tonight we were accused of tearing up greens and smashing carts and harassed for two holes before being kicked off for life. When we were approached by security we admitted that we did lightly bump the carts with NO DAMAGE. We were treated as if we were hoodlums. If you want to spend a relaxing night golfing and enjoying time with your friends you WILL DEFINITELY WANT TO FIND ANOTHER COURSE. Handled very poorly! read more

Was recently at Fairview Farm for the first time for a private event. In addition to the gorgeous view, the food was exceptional from the grilled vegetable medley and lemon chicken to the chocolate mousse cake that melts in your mouth. Wow. Where to start. I'm going to keep it brief because I don't like reading long complaints. Kitchen manager Keith has a complex. Thinks he's some sort of God. He can't even handle a room. This guy has the biggest Nepolian complex I have ever dealt with. This guy needs to find a new line of work... maybe shouldn't be working with people. Maybe should switch to sanitation specialist. That seems to suit him much better as he has zero clue on how to interact with people who are spending money in this poor establishment . read more

Had heard about this course over the years and glad I gave it a try. Course was in very good condition, nice layout and greens were in very good condition. Certainly one of the best public courses in the area. Carts have GPS which is helpful for a first timer. Food in the pub was good as well, give the Turkey Club a try and you won't be disappointed. read more

Food was good. Cart girl was fantastic but my god the course is a terrible layout. Kept very clean and well maintained but the problem with it is there course has so many blind drives and hills. Not a public course worth $80 for 18 with a cart. The scenery isn't worth the price as it's tucked in the middle of no where. If the layout was improved, would be an excellent course. read more

Played today , course in great shape as usual, it was a beautiful day, but I couldn't help notice that there was nobody there, talked to some people that played at other golf courses in the area and they were busy, I have to believe that $80 for a round of golf with a cart, for me is too much, maybe that's me but I can find five other golf courses in the area that are much cheaper? And that are as nice and as challenging, I won't be back this year unless you lower the rates, I get it, things are more expensive but there is a price point for many people who want to play there but can't afford it read more

The attitude strikes again. We called and reserved a 5:30am tee time because 6:00am was taken, more on that later. We arrive at 5:30 and are promptly and very sternly told "you will NOT be teeing off until AT LEAST 6:00am due to darkness". Unnecessary attitude once again. Why tell us to come there for 5:30 if you're just going to make us wait until 6? Oh that 6:00am tee time? Yeah, they were a two some going off the back to play 9 only. Unreal. The course itself is awesome, it really plays beautifully and the greens/fairways/tee boxes are top notch. Almost feels like a private club, but unfortunately the attitude from whoever it is working in the pro shop has to go or I won't come back nor will the rest of the foursome I played with. read more

If you're looking for a place to host an event, look no further! Keith and his staff were fantastic in every way. The venue itself is clean, attractive in its decor and beautiful grounds. We recently held a bridal shower and people raved about the quality and variety of the dishes served at the brunch. The prices were very reasonable for the great quality. It is a golf course as well which gave the guys something to do during the shower. We had access to the outdoor patio which was sectioned off from the general public, they definately pay attention to detail to make your event special. read more

This is only for the restaurant as I don't golf. Had to put together a quick reception for a death on the family. Mom always liked the food here. With the holidays coming, they were stocked up on food and put together an excellent luncheon for 60 guests. Buffet style lunch with 4 or 5 delicious entrees with salad and sides. Courteous staff and pleasant atmosphere. I would recommend this for events, but can't speak for regular dining. read more

Owner is rude and disrespectful. I had a staff member apologize to me for the way he spoke to me. I drove a golf cart slowly over a curb because I could not see a way around it and the owner yelled at me in front of 15 people in the clubhouse and in front of my son. A Fan. Beautiful tree-lined course to start with diverse flora such as soft ferns and yellow irises. Traversing from hole to hole in Electric carts is a delight without gas fumes or a noisy engine. We never play more than the first nine - all enjoyable. Be sure to scope out the view from the green on 9th hole as it is splendid. Amenities: Locker rooms with changing area and showers are not available. The bathroom is moderately large with 4 stalls and a sitting area. Not many bathrooms available holes 1-9 on the course itself. read more

I'm not a duffer, so this is just a restaurant review. Menu is very extensive. I would have enjoyed any meal listed. Prices are very reasonable. The meals we had were perfect! I always hesitate to write poor reviews. Especially when it comes to service I like to cool down before venting my frustrations. That said, here we go: I've golfed here a half dozen times over the years and have been drawn back only by this gorgeous course. I could go on and on about it's layout, design, playability, and the joy it is to play. Customer service, however, is paramount to me in every situation, and that's where this club TANKS! Over the years I've been told to speed up by a marshal where there are no other golfers around. We've been chased down by a cart boy for having a cooler that was really a camera bag. I've been told that "you can't just stop at the turn for a sandwich while golfing" . And most over, I can only compare the treatment of its patrons in the pro shop to what I assume a medium level security prisoner endures at a correctional facility. I have to guess that the woman in the mornings has some relation to upper Managment and for that, is allowed to keep her job. I consider myself a morning person but try to understand when others respond a little flat to my first AM chipper. This woman however holds the record for "mornings waking up on the wrong side of the bed" Never has one ounce of politeness, or smile, or even general decency come from her. I'm not sure what this evil world has done to her, but perhaps a different career path away from others wouldn't hurt. Now that my rant is over, I can honestly say I won't be returning. If you're into the "dicks last resort" of country clubs, this may be the place for you. For me there are plenty of other courses. read more

I have been to Fairview Farms for a number of events, receptions and dinners. The staff have always been extremely accommodating, flexible and respectful. The food is always delicious and the chef is happy to assist in the planning of the menu and create individual meals for those with dietary restrictions. Our company just hosted a retirement party and everyone was very impressed with the evening and looking forward to enjoying this venue on their own. It is beautiful to look out over the golf course as you enjoy dinner on the patio. I highly recommend Fairview Farms as a lovely place for cocktails, lunch or dinner. read more

The course is beautiful. It's well maintained, scenic and very enjoyable. I've read a couple comments about the lady in the pro shop and I couldn't agree more. Her attitude and straight up rudeness trumped our otherwise good experience. Fairview...do yourselves a favor and explain to her what decency is. Great golf with little management interest. No rangers, small group events with no local PGA pro management, excess time to play golf. Even had us mixed in to the local tournament which had no management from the local pro. No one gets a discount not even locals so suggest many other CT courses that are less expensive, friendlier, and better managed for time and pace of play. Best public course I've been on for the money. Golf moves along, the course is well maintained. The staff is helpful and friendly. I joined the men's association this year after discovering this course last year. Fair, but challenging course, tough greens, especially on the shorter par 4's so don't be fooled by the yardage.
