So I had a minor chip in one my front teeth and just needed it evened out but they had to shoot me up with novacaine which was totally unnecessary but I went along with it in order to get my tooth evened out. It was so minute of a chip only I noticed it because, I felt it with my tongue. The next time I went was supposed to be just for a cleaning but low and behold my insurance I was told will cover full facial X-rays and gum decease diagnostics so they said they couldn't just do a cleaning without doing everything else that the insurance paid for. They did everything else and then wanted to reschedule me for my teeth cleaning which would have been an extra visit charge. I confronted them about what was going on and they said that they would remove me as a patient. I was Okay with that because, I knew that I was be charged excessively. I would rate them as a ripoff business!

Unless you've gone to school for dentistry, you really just have to trust that who you're seeing knows what they're doing. You have to ask yourself, "do I really need this procedure to be done, or is the office after some extra income". Not here!! When they said that I needed to have a filling replaced, DeBonis added a level of verification on why it needed to be replaced that I hadn't seen in other dentist offices. I could see why my own eyes the reason why. Sad to leave this practice. If they accept your insurance, you should give them a call!

Sooo, I happened upon Verona Dental Care via Facebook ads, a friend liked them, and they are just down the street from my eyecare place. I will say a first time routine dental visit was 3 months out. After getting through that hurdle, a couple days before the appointment. I got a text giving me the procedures for a new patient -- xrays, 3d scan, and gum evaluation, but no cleaning at this appointment. I do wish they had said that 3 months ago... I don't have insurance; instead i have a discount plan, which they accept. I remained concerned about costs so at every turn, before appointment, during appointment, and every procedure, I made sure to keep asking about costs. Surprisingly, my final costs were extremely low. No price gouging and no unwarranted upcharges. Procedures were xrays, 3d scan, gum evaluation as stated prior to my visit. Then, my hygienist, Hannah, had time to do the cleaning after all after one other patient. I had sealant easily applied to one tooth and flouride treatment, all of which was discussed with pricing, and I accepted. I have two fillings to be reapplied on a future visit and that is all after meeting with Dr. Gupta. I was impressed by the entire staff. I met and interacted with Cally (spelling?), Kel (spelling?) and Dinah, as well, and all were professional and very pleasant. Dr. Gupta and Hannah accessed my teeth and gums appropriately with plans for future care. The technology used is first rate. Xrays were done with a handheld thingamajig with no need for the lead apron or them to step out of the room. The gum evaluation, sorry to say, is still a poke you in the gums event. That has not changed. Oh, and bonus points -- there are free water bottles in the waiting room lobby.

The practice uses AI to analyze x ray imagery and 3D imagery of teeth- everyone knows how prone AI is to hallucinations- and relies on that for diagnosis. Practice is also prone to overtreatment of small caries that can often remineralize on their own. Glad I got a second opinion.

First, let me say the dentist did a good job. No problems in that area. The problems started with…read morethe office's draconian policies. You have to cancel an appointment A WEEK IN ADVANCE or they charge you! Who knows a week ahead of time if something is going to come up that would make you cancel an appointment? Plus they make you pay a deposit when you make an appointment and you have to prepay BEFORE the appointment starts. I've never heard of that. So, you can see where their priorities lies. I went in for an assessment and received a lengthy treatment plan. I made an appointment and it wasn't until a few days later I thought maybe they were planning to do all the work at once. I called to ask and yes, it was the case. That was too much work at once for me so I arranged to get just a few procedures at my next appointment. I wasn't given an amount I was expected to pay at the appointment. I checked the treatment plan and determined the copays would be covered by my flexcard for Medicare so was not prepared for a large expenditure. I went in for the appointment and the person at the desk was quite rude. I went to the desk and waited for her to acknowledge me but she didn't so I said my name, waited again and she didn't say anything. So I started to go and sit down. Then she said something about signing some papers so I turned around and went back to the desk. Apparently, I was supposed to pay $1200 that day before my appointment to prepay on crowns for root canals I was getting which I had not expected. As I hadn't prepared for that amount, I was taken aback and what was going through my head in that split second was what's the best way to pay this for me financially? Will they charge me a fee if I cancel? Will I lose my deposit? What cards do I have on me? Do I have time to do a transfer from savings to checking? Should I take money from my 401k? In my haste I thought I could use my flexcard and put the rest on the only credit card I had with me that would cover it, which I didn't really want to as it had a high balance already. I also have pretty rough physical issues that make just going somewhere a major chore so I didn't want to have to come back. So, I try 3 times to put my flexcard through their machine and each time it didn't work. Finally, the girl spoke up and said the last customer's card didn't work either. It wasn't till much later that I realized she probably wasn't pressing the right buttons. It was completely their fault as I checked later and the card was fine. So, I ended up putting the entire amount on my credit card. It was a lengthy procedure with alot of novacaine involved and wasn't till the next day that I felt better and thought I probably should have used another card I had that had no interest for 6 months so I called to see if they would switch my bill to the other card. Guess what? They refused. They said they paid a fee for me to use my card and they weren't going to pay a second fee. When I suggested they call the credit card company and try to get the fee waived they brushed me off. And, she said, "Well, you signed these papers" like I was disputing the amount and I thought that very rude. She also made some other rude comments. So, now, I'm stuck paying almost 30% interest every month for God knows how long until I pay off the entire balance on my card and my minimum payment has doubled. I had to go back to get my crowns but that's it. They mysteriously weren't able to take my flexcard plus sprung this large bill on me and wouldn't do anything to make it right. I'm done with them.

This man CARED about his patients!! If u had a question he would encourage u to call. He was there for his patients. He took the TIME he needed to make everyone feel COMFORTABLE. Comfortability is very big factor when it comes to dentistry. A lot of people have fears & r uncomfortable even walking in the door. So, making your patients feel comfortable is extremely important in this line of work. And Dr. Houy made u as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately Dr. Houy retired. So, I had to go w/ the other dentist. Dr. Gaga Sandu. At first I didn't get any bad vibes. Was he fast & tried to rush u out...YES! But, that was it (atp). Eventually, I had to get major dental surgery! Something that not only terrified me. But, I didn't know much about after care. I was supposed to get the surgery @ AGH & then return to Dr. Gaga Sandu after. Not only did Dr. Sandu cancel appointments w/o notifying me b4 showing up (prior to surgery). He also blatantly LIED TO ME, GASLIT me into thinking the hospitals ER offered something they didn't, & then when MISCOMMUNICATION was happening he refused to take ANY ACCOUNTABILITY & made me out to be some kinda incompetent fool!!!! I was able to get an Emergency appointment (no thanks to Dr. Sandu) & the HOSPITAL whom was ONLY SUPPOSED TO EXTRACT gave me an aftercare paper & told me to call my dentist for a follow up. Which...MADE SENSE! He is in fact my normal dentist that LITERALLY made a "plan" as far as my teeth & what needs done. So, almost a wk later they squeeze me in between appointments. This appointment was an "adjustment" & to make sure there was no infection. Which also....made sense considering it was a MAJOR DENTAL SURGERY & I needed to know the next step! I go in for my appointment & this "dentist" DR. Gaga SANDU says to me, "y r u here". I repeat what the appointment is for. ATP he is looking at me confused. Did NOTHING, told me NOTHING except "this was the hospitals responsibility but sometimes they're lazy & tell u go to the desntist". Like excuse me sir...U R THE DENTIST & this IS INFACT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR AFTERCARE! Get this, I even had to ASK him how I'm even healing! lol!!!!! THIS GUY...DR. GAGA SANDU IS A JOKE!!!! And doesn't have a CARE in the world about his PATIENTS! He sees a money sign $$$ walk in the door instead of a person. He doesn't know it yet but, he has not only lost me as a patient but, MY ENTIRE FAMILY! Which is not 1 but, 6 patients! I have plastered ALL over every social media site how horrible of a dentist he is. And will continue to preach to people NOT TO GO TO THIS GUY!!! Dr. Butler whom works for this dentistry on the other hand is a VERY NICE, POLITE woman who DOES seem to care for the patient themselves as opposed to if they have "good insurance" or how much is in their bank accounts.
