It's Scottish fare that has been thoroughly hipster-ized (that's a complement!), with excellent ingredients and love in equal measures. Everything is cooked JustRight™, the flavors are clear and cohesive, and there is just enough Surprise on each plate to keep you happy and excited for more. On which note, if they've got the gnocchi and/or the lamb, be sure to get them - they are *exceptional*. About the only weak link is the steak. Which isn't bad at all - it's just that you can get steak anywhere... ) The cocktails are very well done, with the menu separating them out appropriately by type/style. Never fear though, if you're not sure what you want, talk to the bartender, and they'll happy pick one, or work something specific up for you. And as for the ambience, well, what can I say. It's got a lot of wood, and is still airy without being barn-like. You feel the presence of others, but aren't overpowered by them. And the staff is always on hand, ready to help and/or leave you alone if you're having a good time. Most importantly, they don't push you out (we guilted ourselves out well past closing!) The bottom line is that if you're in Glasgow, and in the 'hood, you owe it to yourself to come here...

Chelsea Market just opened a few weeks ago, but gauging by their performance of our dinner service, you couldn't tell this was a new place. Usually kinks need to be worked out from food to service, usually followed by lots of apologies for the inevitable missteps in aforementioned food and service. Nothing of the sort happened. Everything was very well done. We walked in without a reservation to a pretty full dining room and a buzzing bar, but they were able to find us a table. We started off with pumpkin soup which had roasted pumpkin in it and pumkpin seeds, which gave it a nice roasted flavor. For dinner we had the lamb shoulder, red deer and a burger. The lamb shoulder was tasty and very tender. The red deer was excellent and my burger was also very good. The service was good as well. They were friendly and helpful throughout our visit.

Just off the main strip of the shopping district and tucked through a little alley way. Sloans is a place that everyone knows about. Somewhat of a fun beer garden vibe outside and the main bar is inside. They were carding to get inside. Table seating was first come first serve outside. Pretty much we're all taken both inside as well. The main bar area is where you can order. It was card only. We did manage to get a seating along of the booth against the corner. The vibe is pretty fun. A local pub that everyone meets and mingle. It's a full bar and I believe they also serve food. I've only entered through the little alley way but this time we left out through a door that takes you directly onto the street area. It looked like theres a hotel up the stairs in the lobby. Maybe there's a hotel or it could just leads to different businesses. It's a cool bar restaurant that's pretty much known in Glasgow. A mixed crowd that's there for all the same things, grab a pint and have a good time.

I came here with friends, after attending a film screening at GMAC (Glasgow Media Access Centre), across the road. Fortunately my friend had reserved a table for fifteen. We had three tables pushed together but it was high stools. It was quite tight and some folk couldn't use the stools, but we managed to get a normal chairs and table and we made it work. I unfortunately was driving. Boo!!! I know, right?! So I stuck with the soft drinks. Unfortunately their draft Pepsi was a bit watery but they had cans available. The cocktails looked amazing and some of my friends were really enjoying them. Definitely, next time!!! The band got themselves ready and then they had the place jumping. It already is quite a lively place, so don't come here looking for a quiet date night. The band played pop classics with a Brazilian twist. There was a small area for dancing. So this time, rather dodging it on the way out, I was one of those flang, flung persons, flinging themselves about the place. Remember, I was completely sober. Haha!! It was so much fun. Later on we had a male and a female dancer come out in full traditional Brazilian bling and feathers. It was brilliant to watch and we just joined in, dancing along with them. Overall it was a brilliant atmosphere, lively and a guaranteed fun night out. I do hope I get the chance to try the menu the next time.

Worst New Years 2023 experience ever. We didn't have any drugs on us and yet they falsely accused…read moreus, they body searched us, two people from Black, Asian, and minority ethnicity (BAME) , without have any substantial evidence. Due to our intersectional identities, we believe we were racially profiled and then searched during their Hogmanay Party- Latin Connection 2023. The body search was ineffective as we were two international students from two prominent university in Scotland and have nothing to hide. I guess we were taken aback as we did not expect to experience institutional racism and bias from a place like Boteco Glasgow. I was also touched inappropriately by the female security guard while searching .

This is a great place for drinks…read more I know other reviews show food being served...however...as of July 2025 there is no kitchen open here which serves food. However, if you wish, you may bring in takeaway food from nearby establishments. My mates and I loved this place for its simple offerings of good beer on draught, and their local whiskey selection. Everyone else was watching the football match on the tele...but we were just having fun amongst ourselves.

Traveling through Scotland we've been amazed at all the Mexican food restaurants. After a terrible plate of natchos, we've avoided them until last night. The lure of a margarita brought us in to this place that serves water out of Jose Cuervo bottles. The ambiance was lively and had the bright ceramics of our home town neighbor. Ben, our waiter, was wonderful-calmly dealing with our concerns and bringing us dishes one at a time. We started with fish tacos which were delicious and had slices of Serrano peppers. The spiciness was welcome. We had prawn tostadas that I would order again without hesitation. Quality of the prawns was excellent. The spirit of Mexican cuisine was in these dishes although they were different than the Mexican food we've had in Mexico and in San Diego. The calamari was a stretch for being Mexican but tasted great. We were disappointed to not have the margarita rims salted and the avocado was barely adequate for us but otherwise this place is great for Mexican food in Scotland.

The P & B was just down from our hotel and appeared to be just a beer bar with loud music and lots of men day drinking. We almost passed the place by - so glad we didn't. The language for Scotland is English, but we couldn't understand anything anyone was saying. So we did our best to order a meat pie and a couple of beers. The pie was amazing, as were the local beers - after 3 beers, I swear we could even understand Scottish!

You may wonder why I mention old lady bars, this is because The State reminds me of an old man's pub. The State is just off of Sauchiehall Street and just round the corner from the King's Theatre so this makes it a wee cheeky break from the pure madness of Sucksthelifeoutyou Street. The State is also good for wee gigs based downstairs in the basement. I've been to a couple of gigs and I do prefer a more intimate gig so sound was admittedly LOUD but it was good music I was listening to. *shimmy* If you want a wee change pop round to the State and I saw they also have plenty beers if you like beer. I must say, I don't often write second reviews for places, but seeing as this is The State Bar and…read moremy last review was SIX YEARS AGO I will make amends. The reason for reviewing again, is since 2009 The State has dramatically increased the variety, quantity and quality of its real ales/craft beers, offering such an excellent selection that it was crowned Glasgow CAMRA Pub of the Year 2014. This is no mean feat as there are literally thousands of pubs stretching from Oban to Rothesay, Glasgow to Strathaven, Biggar to Airdrie all included in the voting. Fan of Fyne Ales? Oakham beers? The State has at least one beer from each brewery at any one time, being a member of each brewery's "Pubs of excellence" schemes. This also means very difficult to get and one-off beers are often launched or sold exclusively here. It's just a really great pub. And it isn't expensive either. £3.50 max for a pint, including sometimes 7% beers (which I really should stay away from but it's too damn hard given how tasty they are!). If you're not sure of what beer you fancy, ask for a wee taster and the bar staff will be happy to oblige and share their recommendations. Go there now! DO IT! PS - I almost forgot... this is like the only place in the West of Scotland that shows live cricket... if that's your thing. There's also live football on the Sky Sports screens, but it doesn't attract some of your usual footy watching crowd who are just in the pub for the "bantz". The sound is never turned up that high either, but the conversation can make this a loud pub at times!
