Go elsewhere if you can! Dr. Safajou was condescending and passed judgment on me as a patient. I went in for a problem visit to request labs and imaging. While she did order the labs (at my explicit request) and imaging, she chose to lecture me about "unnecessary hormone replacement therapy" (which I never requested nor expressed an interest in). As with many other reviews here on Yelp, as well as on Google and Healthgrades, I had a very negative experience with Dr. Chista Safajou. She spent approximately 5 minutes with me, barely made eye contact, was extremely impatient and seemed angry. Her practice later notified me that a summary of my visit had been posted, but it contained nothing of any substance. read more

You will spend minimum 2-3 hours. Dr. Safajou unfortunately lacks bedside manner which is a pretty essential trait to have as an OBGYN.

First time ever going to an OBGYN and it was a terrible experience. She was about 15 minutes late and clearly didn't care about anyone's time but hers. It was her and this Marist intern? Dr.Safajou asked me if this was a routine check up, but I said no since it was my first time. She then proceeded to ask me if this was my first visit about four times. Not only did I tell her that it was my first visit, she had checked it out on the laptop when she came into the room. The Marist woman and I just looked at each other with a "is she being serious right now?" face. I was asking a bunch of questions and it seemed as if she was annoyed that I didn't know and talked down to me like I was a child. She asked me what I was there for, I told her I think have fibroids. She asks how do I know. Well, I don't know, but I can make an educated guess on that I have them since my mother, grandma, AND great grandmother had them, with a bunch of other ovarian issues. But yeah I don't know 100%...that's why I'm here. She proceeds to ask again, "yes, but how do you really know? Do you just think that?". Well I have nearly all the symptoms and I just told her my family history of it. Was being super demeaning. She ended up being in the room for a total of 10 minutes and left the Marist woman in there if I had any questions. Marist lady was super nice and understanding and explained things to me in a much easier way. I had gotten a test done and was told I'd hear the results I within that week (I went June 24th). It's now August 3rd and I know NOTHING. Maybe that's a labcorp issue, but the doctor shouldn't tell you that they're going to call you and not do it. I also had a telehealth scheduled for July 31st and they called me on July 18th to tell me she has to reschedule...okay now it's for August 14th, let's hope she doesn't cancel this time. I ask the people on the phone how I can get my information and they say it's not on the portal and they can't email me anything and that I'll have to wait until the telehealth visit with the doctor. Honestly just waiting for the results and will be canceling the next appointment I have with her in October. If I could give zero stars, I would. read more

Although I realize that sometimes things happen out of your control & that appts may have to be rescheduled, I find it incredibly rude & unacceptable to cancel 3 hours prior to an appt & not to have spots to fit people back in who have been waiting. I have been on top of my appts for the past 10 years since I had cervical adenocarcinoma & I do not like to go more than 1 year between my next exam bc I want to stay on top of my health. I have been seeing Dr El Kareh, who is an amazing doctor, but it is very difficult to get appts with her, so I wanted to try to see someone new. I should have listened to the reviews online that told me her office does not respect appts & peoples time. I received MULTIPLE email & text reminders about my appt, early checkin, requests to complete paperwork, etc, to just have my appt canceled the morning of with no appt offered for 1-2 months is ridiculous. I took off work for this appt, but had I canceled the day of, I probably would have been charged! So I guess her time is more valuable than her patients. When I asked to be fit in, her staff told me that it would be impossible bc she works through her lunch. Dr. El Kareh has never once canceled on me over the past 5 years. When she's had to go to the hospital, I may have to wait, but she always makes time to see me bc she cares. When I said I waited 4 months to see Safajou, her staff callously replied that I can just go see someone else. I called El Karehs office & they got me in today with Dr. Madoff. That's the difference between an empathetic doctor & 1 who is not. 1 star is too much... wish I could leave 0! read more

Dr. Safajou has been my gyn for a number of years. Due to a history of medical issues, she has been proactive with my health insurance company in providing me with a breast MRI. I previously had one a number of years ago & she insisted I receive another one. Well, when the insurance co denied me, Dr. Safajou went the extra mile dealing with them directly many times & with a peer review & it was finally approved. The results of the test showed a separate, serious incidental finding which was caught early. She literally saved my life. I am so blessed and grateful she is my Dr. Sure, you have to wait extra time in the waiting room. Call ahead & see if she's running late. At least you have the time. During a time when extra care and special measures were needed Dr. Safajou gave exceptional care. I was in advanced maternal age when I became pregnant and gave birth to my 1st and only child. Dr. Safajou was extremely direct about my needs and made sure to explain the the events as they unfolded. I had several medical situations occur during my pregnancy due to my age and instead of letting me follow the routine schedule, Dr. Safajou had me visit more frequent and closely monitored my care. She didn't just say she was vested in my care... she showed it! On 10/19/20 I had a safe delivery of a healthy baby with Dr. Safajou by my side. I don't know about anyone else but having the comfort of seeing the same doctor made a huge difference. read more

Dr. Safajou was my doctor for my first pregnancy, and she is absolutely amazing. Her staff and office go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and welcome. It also worked so well for me because the specialist is at the same location and coincided with the office. I am so happy to have had this office during my first pregnancy. Although there were some wait times but it's well worth it.. who doesn't wait at an awesome doctors office? This office exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be recommending to all friends and family. read more

If I could give zero stars I would after waiting in one of her room on for over 40 minutes she came in on a rush i was 7 weeks pregnant she did a Pap smear on me and less than 24 hours after she did my Pap smear I started to have a miscarriage I would never go back there it was my first pregnancy appointment she didn't do any blood work any ultrasound ntn only the pap smear which was the cause of my miscarriage read more

I had a very similar experience to another reviewer. I sat on the examination table for over an hour waiting for the doctor. When she finally did get to see me she seemed rushed and very cold. No apologies were given for the tardiness and she didn't seem to give much acknowledgment to any of the issues that I wanted addressed. I will not be returning to her offices. read more

She is a very good Dr. However I feel its very disrespectful to your patients to keep them waiting every appointment 1-2 hours. That is not an emergency , that is your mode of business. I suggest revamping your scheduling methods. read more

Upon first meeting Dr safajou seemed caring and through. I couldn't have been more wrong. I sought out an appointment with her as a second opinion due to my extensive history. Unfortunately her medical opinion was no help. I ended up back in the hospital the same day .I was admitted, picc line inserted and treated for several weeks of IV antibiotics. Once Dr safajou found out I had been admitted under the original service of my initial GYN she called me while I was in the hospital. She was very rude and battered me with questions and hassled me for not calling the office. The only question she wanted an answer to was why her service was not contacted. Her concerns were not for my condition. As a lay in the hospital bed unsure of what was going on in my body, while visiting with my 8 year old , Dr safajou scolded me . How dare she! She only cared about being able to bill my insurance company . She should be ashamed. I would never recommend this doctor! read more

Dr. Safajou is a wonderful person & Doctor. Very attentive and has a great bedside manner. She delivered my daughter via c section perfectly. My experience with her was as flawless as that situation can possibly be. She's now at Caremount in Poughkeepsie. Haven't been there yet but I'm hoping scheduling is just as easy as it was when she was in private practice. read more

While Dr. Safajou appears to be very competent, I had a terrible experience at her practice. I was sitting in one of the procedure rooms, undressed from the waist down with only a covered sheet on me, waiting for a procedure to be done. I was in that room for over an hour. Not even once did the nurse or doctor enter the room to tell me why I was waiting so long. I finally got dressed and left the room. I called out to the nurse once in the hallway and when she finally came out of a room, told me that complications had arisen on several patients. That is the stock response they give to patients, likely because they overbook as many people as they can for the same appointment time. This was the response that they gave me for my previous appointment. The least the nurse or office personnel could have done would have been to advise me that the doctor was delayed and to ask me if I wanted to reschedule. They did not I would not recommend this practice. read more
