After the initial paperwork, I was immediately taken in for eye tests and then promptly seen by the doctor (Dr. Ronald Suarez, OD - who was absolutely awesome!). Out of all my years of annual eye exams, this exam was definitely the most efficient; quick yet thorough. They did not have the brand of contact I have been using for years in my new prescription's strength, so Dr. Suarez gave me a trial of a new brand to try. The new brand he gave was still slightly off on the exact prescription, so he gave me a sample pair in the strength closest to my prescription, and will give me a new sample pair after the ones for my prescription come in. (Long story short, he basically gave me two pairs of contacts to try for free with the exam). I usually take the prescription from my eye exam and buy my contacts online. However, All About Eyes had about the same price for contacts as the cheapest place I could find online (and without all the hassles of coupons and mail-in rebates). So I simply bought my contacts in-store. Plus, with the sample contact lenses they gave me, it allows me to try the new brand of contacts before opening the actual box of contacts I purchased (free exchanges for unopened boxes of contacts; no questions asked). I was then seen by Tallie W., who handled all the insurance info. She was also very courteous and helpful. Dr. Ronald Suarez and Tallie W. were great from start to finish. Overall, I was really impressed with this place. I will definitely be coming back to All About Eyes for my next annual eye exam and to order contacts.

I asked for gray lenses with a salesperson, but got green-ish lenses when I picked it up another day. A different lady named Cassandra who claimed to be the manager was there. Cassandra first tried to gaslight me into believing the green lenses are the gray ones that I asked for. I took out my original gray color lenses and showed her that it's not the same color. I nicely asked her if it's OK that they replace the lenses to the color that I wanted. She suddenly talked to me rudely. Her original word was: "I can change it for you, but I don't want to. Because no matter what color we give you, you won't be satisfied. You will just come back and ask for new colors again and again." Her bad attitude was out of nowhere. Then I explained the situation last week with the different salesperson. I asked for exactly the same color as my original lenses but with prescription. She kept repeating her passive aggressive words implying that I chose the green color myself, and was then unsatisfied and asking for change, implying that I was a dishonest customer. Cassandra then started gaslighting me by "I was there the whole time when you were working with Tony, I was sitting right next to you. I saw him showing all the lenses to you and you chose the green color." I knew it was not true, because only Tony was there when I went there last week. So I explained that "You were not there. You must have mistaken me of someone else." She started increasing her voice and be like: "No, I was sitting right next to you the whole time. IT IS YOU." I proposed looking at the camera and see if she was there. She started saying "ugh, dramatic." I got mad and asked her: "Were you calling me dramatic??" She replied: "No, I am not talking about you." I pointed out that LensCrafters has the 30 days guaranteed satisfaction, she simply replied rudely: "Yes, but you will never be satisfied. You will just come back and change colors again and again." At that point I was really mad but still trying to explain. She almost shouted: "YOU DO NOT INCREASE YOUR VOICE!!! YOU DO NOT! INCREASE YOUR VOICE" I said: "I can come back tomorrow and work with the salesperson that I talked to, but I think your attitude towards the customers should be better." She rudely replied: "You are the one increasing your voice and calling me a liar. I have been professional and nice all this time." Then she just started to file documents for other customers and ignore me. The experience with Cassandra was SO HORRIBLE. Her service was so unprofessional and rude, full of gaslighting, passive-aggressiveness, discrimination, and microaggression. She did not even listen to my when I explained. I eventually left the store feeling discriminated as an Asian customer and being accused to be a dramatic and dishonest customer.

At the start of my appointment, a technician persistently brought up Lasik surgery, despite my disinterest. When I said "No, thank you," the receptionist gave a speech about how Lasik is actually cheaper than buying contacts. Interesting take. She also told me that it's a "one-and-done" fix, and thus, much more economically efficient than contacts. I have never once in my life been harassed like this, nor recommended Lasik. Clearly Chittick has some contract with an off-facility surgery site. My recommendation: make that a little less obvious. Next, I attempted to buy contacts through them. Big mistake. Chittick charged me almost double what my old optometrist charged me. At first I thought it was an insurance issue, but then I pulled up the contacts price with NO insurance, and was baffled. Chittick inflates their contacts prices by at least 200%. You are better off ordering your contacts through 1800-contacts or a different site, as Chittick would like to squeeze many extra dollars out of your pocket. This practice is especially hurtful for graduate students. I am making only 2k/month over the summer, and with rent taking about 50% of my paycheck, I do not have time for Chittick's games.
